Just got back from my 31 week appt. They found bacteria in my pee, my midwife told me to stop taking so many tums as they can cause small kidney stones that scratch the urinary track and create a uti. Apparently you shouldn't be taking more than 4 tums a day. It doesn't hurt when I pee yet, but I'm still drinking cranberry juice just in case. Have you guys ever tried cranberry juice? NOT cranberry juice cocktail, cranberry juice? It's terrible. SO GROSS. Also, I'm not totally convinced that cranberry juice actually helps flush out uti bacteria, but I guess if it's good enough for my midwife it's good enough for me.
There are cranberry pills, which are more potent than just the juice. You might try those if your midwife gives you the thumbs up.
@Winniethepoohpants take the pills. It's higher concentrate and will help prevent bacteria from colonizing without the detriment of the sugar in the juice, which you'd also have to drink so much of. Increase water, avoid sugar. If the bacteria get established enough there's no way around antibiotics, but prior to that the cranberry really does mitigate it and give your immune system time to restore the correct balance.
Applied Behavioral Analysis. It is a treatment technique that has been really successful in helping people with autism. Its also really useful for other diagnosis and really for all types of behavior modification but the clinic I will be working for only accepts clients with an autism diagnosis because most insurance companies will only cover this type of therapy for that currently. Hopefully that will be changing soon. I'm so excited to be working in this field. Going to be very challenging but I know it will be worth it!
@lunagrl79 - Congratulations! As PP have said, it is such a rewarding (even if challenging at time) field to be in. I still live for the little victories and it makes everything else worth it. I hope you LOVE it and am so happy you were able to find something you're excited about!
Emztron500 - mine was at 11. Rant away - it sucked!!!!! Any chance you can take the afternoon to sleep and/or do absolutely nothing? I was wrecked after my test, even after I ate. I had a massive headache and needed to sleep. (not to add to the awfulness - just to prepare you for a possibly crappy day).
Yeah I feel like shit and just want to go to sleep. But I'm self-employed and am sort of freaking out about all my lost productivity this morning so I feel like I better hunker down and get some work done so I can get some $$$. Boooo.
On another note, huge congrats @lunagrl79 that's awesome!!
On an unrelated note: It is National Beer Day. I'm headed to a sports bar after work with a bunch of co-workers (H included) so that they can enjoy some delicious brews and I can enjoy some delicious soft pretzels with cheese. This is what makes me excited these days... I feel lame.

Soft pretzels are always a good reason to be excited.
Ok. Seriously why is it so difficult to tell the difference between "ticker change" and "check in"?!. if I wanted to know what random day in your "week" you are, I would read the daily check in! Idk why that annoys me so muc
@ahernandez16 she is legitimately psycho. I hope for everyone's sake, she is not actually pregnant. I can't help but look forward to the next installment of this saga

@Emztron500 ugh, so sorry you can't just laze around until you feel better. You totally deserve it.
@lunagrl79 HOORAY! And you absolutely hit the nail on the head when you said that your training in ABA will be super useful for parenting (and also for all other relationships, including romantic ones down the line!)--you will seriously be so glad to have these skills. Go principles of reinforcement!!!! Go functions of behavior!!!!! Also, your vocabulary is about to get a nice boost. You'll be impressing people left and right with some of your fancy behavioral terminology in no time.
So update. My friend who was told she has pcos, does in fact, not have it or anything else wrong with her! Unfortunately, her H has weak swimmers. They are looking into treatment, but she found out yesterday that even with a referral, their insurance has covered zero of their tests. So they don't know what they are going to do now, his treatment might not be covered.
Also, 2 friends have named their DDs the middle name we were considering in the last week...
What I don't get is why the admins even looked at the thread, there's so many on here they can't possibly read them all and it didn't have the hallmarks of any really good drama (ie TONS of new comments on an otherwise normal thread title or a blatant TOU violating name). My guess is someone reported something which made them hone in on the thread and shut it down... Lame.
i am hungry and i have a cadbury creme egg in my desk drawer... my glucose test is tomorrow at 9am... does anyone think eating this now will have any effect? Because i really want WINE tonight (due to a work situation) but obviously that isn't an option, so the cadbury egg is really all I have...
