I am so glad I reached out to y'all before bed last night. I slept a full 8 hours. Actually maybe a bit more. Waking up to all your good vibes and replies really helps. Thank you so much. 

I kind of feel like a baby, being so whiny, cause I know things could be worse. I am so grateful for this board. I do have family here to help me. And I'm working on rebuilding things with my mom, but I have an aunt I'm really close with. 

 I had a feeling last night was just a false alarm so I texted them both but kept them on stand by but I won't be going alone again if anything like that happens. Just made me so sad. 

So today in gonna try to get a little more done, maybe start packing, luckily won't be bad since I just moved in this place a month ago. Also trying to focus on keeping the negatives out of my head.

No it wasn't you. You actually called the person out. It was the comment about Hershel. Which that happened forever ago so that was kind of ok. Just thought it was weird to complain about spoilers then proceed to specifically say what was spoiled. Then I thought there was another one about Beth but I couldn't find it. The Beth thing just happened like towards the end of the last season I seen so that's when I got nervous. I'm not sure if they gave specifics or not because my memory sucks and I couldn't find it again. I'm not upset by any means, just stopped reading that thread because I don't wanna take any chances.

You're not whiny--you've been through the ringer, and still likely have some tough days ahead of you. Sure, there's pretty much always someone else in the world having a tougher time, but that doesn't invalidate what you're going through. Not saying I know exactly what you're going through, but I have made the same justification to myself of "it could always be worse" when dealing with something hard. It's good to use that for perspective, but also remember what you're going through matters. It's ok to cut yourself some slack. Good to hear you slept well. Keep on keepin' on, lady!

@DeePaddy - THANK you for asking that! I've had the most difficult time figuring out the conversion! And I've had a lot of people ask for months and had to do the blank stare... so thank you @Kballew10 for the easy to decipher chart!

@lunagrl79 - I'm SO glad to hear you were able to get some sleep. Keep moving forward (I'm a child and love animated movies, so that's a reference to "Meet the Robinson's" if you haven't seen it  ), I'm so inspired by your strength and determination!

On a personal note...I failed my 1 hour glucose test, boo! My number was 165, has anyone else had a number that high and found out that it was a false positive after the 3 hour test? I'm trying to not get emotional but after the huge scare earlier on and thinking we were going to lose him, I've already had to try and keep my nerves under control and I'm just struggling to maintain composure after that (thanks to just naturally bad anxiety already). Obviously not the end of the world, and we'll deal with it if it wasn't a false positive but just struggling to not get down about it!

Ok ladies maybe I should know this because I'm like 7 months pregnant... but help a first timer out... what does the % effaced mean? My cousin just texted me (due in 3 weeks) that she's 2 cm dialated & 60% effaced...

% effaced refers to how thin or thick your cervix is.  The more effaced it is, the thinner it is.  However, similar to dilation, it doesn't really tell you anything about how soon labor will start.

This. There are some factors that can skew these numbers a bit too. Like having kid previously. I could get a check now and likely would already be at 2 cm dilated since I've already had kids. I try to avoid checks at the end of pregnancy so as not to get my hopes up and try to read into the numbers. It's hard not to though Last pregnancy I didn't have her check me till 38 weeks. I was proud of my will power!

Thanks ladies! Her identical twin sister just had her baby 2 weeks early so everyone is on watch for her to go early as well Appreciate the education! I was afraid to google it at work for fear of pictures etc...

Yep, with my second I was 0cm and 0% on tuesday. I had him Friday night.  The longer you can go without checks, the better bc they can cause bleeding, and (rarely) water to break if you are carrying low. Plus like @fishwife799 said, it only gets your hopes up/down. Everyone is different

Here's my responses to everything:

Spoilers suck. But The Walking Dead also sucks. 

Peeps milk is a crime against humanity. That shouldn't be allowed to exist.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream is the best thing. Except for mint chocolate chip frozen custard, that is better. I am jealous of everyone who is eating these things.

A trip to Hawaii sounds so amazing right now. Enjoy on behalf of all of us @NicknShan

You are amazing @lunagrl79 and you're going to get through this very tough time and be better for it. But don't invite your ex's family to the shower. That sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen.

Routine third trimester cervical checks are silly unless preterm labour is suspected for some reason. I didn't have any checks with my first until I was in labour. And at that point I was less than 1cm dilated but still delivered within 2 days of slow-ass labour. This time I have no idea what's going on down there but thankfully my midwife isn't too keen on shoving her hand up my business to investigate.

It is real life. I didn't think so at first but I saw some in my local grocery store. I wanted to puke just looking at it. My friend posted a meme about it the other day that was funny though. It said "peeps milk.... for the people who are too lazy to chew marshmallows"

How thinned out your cervix is. I was 3cm and 90% effaced at 35 weeks with DS and he still had to be induced. It doesn't mean a whole lot unfortunately.

On the other hand, with my first pregnancy I was 3-4 cm dilated at my 36 week appt and he came at 38 weeks.  I liked being checked because I had been really crampy (no contractions) and it was helpful for me to know that the cramping was being productive even though it wasn't really a timeable contraction thing.

No one ever asks me about IP anymore... it's sad really. I was a neuroscientist for about 10 years before I graduated from law school and now I do nothing related to hard science.

We are considering having me be SAHM after this guy is born and I want to pull my hair out thinking of how much I've lost my career already and why my ego is so tied to that... you know?
