Baby Names

Baby Boy Name

My husband and I have a list of boy names that we like but we are having a really hard time finding something we love. We both have huge families and prefer not to duplicate at least on the kids names that will be around the same age as our kids, so that limits us. I like traditional names (many of which are taken by family members) that are not too popular. We find out in about a week if we are having a boy or a girl, so I'm not too worried yet but would like to have an idea of a boy's name even if the ultrasound tells us it is a girl just in case (I have had a couple of friends that thought they were having girls until the got to the hospital and found out it was a boy, surprise!). We are pretty set on our girl name Willa Elizabeth. We also like the names Jane, Lydia, Cecilia, and Clara. For a boy we have a list of names we like but are very open to suggestions:

Benjamin (love this, but I'm not sure if this is too popular?)
Clayton
Dean
Griffin
Lincoln
Leo (my husband doesn't love this one, but I do)
Reid

Thank you for your help!

Re: Baby Boy Name

  • Love Dean and Reid and neither are popular yet they are very recognizable. Benjamin is great but a bit to popular for me especially with other Ben type names trending like Bennett, Bentley etc. Clayton and Lincoln are trendy as well. I like Leo but if your husband isn't sold if scratch it. Griffin is ok.

  • I feel Benjamin is classic enough that it's nor too popular, just popular.

    I like Dean best otherwise.
  • Ben, Leo, and Reid are my favorites from your list.
  • Benjamin is classic, imo. It will always be slightly popular because it's a good strong name. Although, I do agree that with other Ben type names trending right now it may seem more popular.

Reid or Dean would be my next choices from your list.

  • Leo and Reid are my favorites. Both were on my short list. They're classic, but not as common as names like Benjamin, William, Andrew. I also suggest Grant.
  • Reid is my favourite. Love it! Dean comes second and I also don't mind Clayton.

Agree about Benjamin. It was one of our favourites but we decided against it because of the popularity of Ben names right now. I think there will he a lot of little Ben's running around.

The others are not my style.
  • I like Leo!
How against it is your DH?
Maybe he will grow to love it!
  • Dean, Leo or Reid
  • Benjamin or Leo

  • I like Reid (prefer Reed) and Leo from your list. Benjamin is very popular.

Clayton reads as very country to me, unlike a name like Leo which has universal appeal.

  • I loved Clayton for my DS until I realized it might be shortened to Clay. I didn't like Clay, so we didn't go with that name.

Benjamin was one of my favorites and I love Ben too. That's my favorite on your list. I like them all though.
  • Dean or Reid!

  • The only two that I really don't like are Dean and Clayton, as someone else mentioned they both seem too country to me.

    Leo is my favorite.

  • Clayton, Leo, and Benjamin were on our boy list but we are having a girl.  Griffin with a NN "Finn" is my ultimate favorite boy name but DH wouldn't go for it.
  • Thanks everyone for your help! I think we have narrowed our list to Reid, Benjamin, and Dean but still keeping an eye out for something else we love. I'm still working on Leo too!
