Thoughts on Mayan middle name

I we have a girl this time around my husband wants to use a traditional Mayan name (he's from Guatemala). The one we have both liked the most is Itzel.

What do you think of Itzel as a middle name? First names we are considering are Anna, Emma, Lydia, Christa and Christine. Those aren't set in stone though. Would love opinions and suggestions!

Re: Thoughts on Mayan middle name

  • I like it in the middle and think Christine flows best

  • Sounds fine to me. I wouldn't side eye it at all given your husband's heritage. I do think you should avoid any FNs that end in a vowel sound though since the MN starts with a vowel.
  • I like it. I like Anna and Emma with it.
  • I think it's fine as a mn. I like mns with significance.
  • I like it for a middle name, nice way to honor your husband's heritage. Agree that Christine flows with it best.

  • I think it is fine. Out of your list I like Lydia. I think the first name should be 3 syllables or longer, but typically you don't say fn and mn together often so anything would be beautiful.
  • I like it as a mn, given the relevance to your family.
