If we have a girl, my boyfriend really wants to name her Lucca. It's traditionally a boys name in Italy, and it means "bringer of light." We both like the middle name Rae. He's in love with it, and I like the name too, but I wonder if it's too untraditional?
Re: Lucca?
Lucca Rae sounds trendy and reads straight from a teenager's "what I want to name my kid someday" list.

If you do use Luca, please spell it Lucca. The extra c doesn't make it feminine, but made up.
What about Lucy?
I don't think it's untraditional. I think it's a hack job. Sorry to be harsh but these are beautiful, classic names that are being sawed apart for the sake of being unique. I think it will reflect poorly on you and your partner.
I agree with the previous posters, that Lucia Rae is so much cooler!
