I am having a baby girl in just a few months and am having a hard time deciding on a name for
her .
I have Charleston Kay (nickname Charlie)
Aria lynn
Spencer Reid

Any input or suggestions ?! I'm going crazy not having a name for her !! My poor baby girl !

Re: Input on baby name for my little girl

  • Loading the player...
  • Not Charleston or spencer... If the fact that aria is going to be the #1 used girl name of 2015 then go with aria. It's definitely pretty, it's just very very over-used
  • Are you from the US? Aria isn't that common at all in the UK, to my knowledge. It reminds me of Arya from Game of Thrones, but she's pretty cool tbh... And the name is nice. Agree with everyone else, the other two are not to my taste ;)
  • Definitely Aria. Charleston is the Capitol of WV lol. Spencer Reid is the delightfully nerdy guy from criminal minds.
  • I generally dislike the name Aria, as I feel it's totally overused. That said, if it's between Charleston, Aria, and Spencer, I'd go with Aria.

  • Spencer is actually one of the pretty little liars names ( TV Show) so I think it works for a girl, maybe a different middle name. But i always liked Aria to!
  • I really like Charleston (with Charloe as the nickname), but definitely no to Spencer Reid for all the reasons listed above. I like that Charleston is different, and not nearly as popular as Aria. Plus, I think a little girl going by Charlie is both adorable and fierce at the exact same time.
  • Aria is one of my fave hotels in Vegas. Had no idea it could be a legit name for a kid.
  • Aria for sure. Charleston is just ugh no. And Spencer would be maybe kind of okay if it was paired with a very feminine name, but no way with Reid.

  • Since Aria is the only girl name on that list, I vote for that. I've heard of Spencer on PLL (and Aria for that matter too), but Charleston is seriously terrible especially on a little girl. Also, Reid is adorable... for a boy. Just say no!

While NMS Aria is actually a really common girls name. It was the #31 most common name in 2014.

  • I love Aria Lynn!
  • Aria Lynn is cute! Or Spencer lynn maybe? Which name is your favorite?
  • I don't know I like Charlie for a girl ( and it's after my grandpa) but I love unique names obviously . Kay or Reid is in the name because of my husband mother who passed away her name was Freida Kay (take f and a off equals Reid ) just trying to incorporate her and Lynn is my mothers middle name

Go with Kay. Reid is a stretch and it's all boy. Maybe Charlotte Kay?

Frieda and Kay are both far more unique and underused to your other options.
  • Please pick aria
  • I personally hate Aria and like Charlie and Spencer for girls just fine. I'm not sure if it's any sort of legitimate spelling but I know a girl dog named Charlee and I love that.

I feel like Aria sounds like a made up name even though according to the other posters it's actually very popular.

It's a type of song, making it a musical name like Lyric, Melody or the modern usage of Cadence. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aria
you beat me to it. However, it's super common nowadays and overused in my opinion.

Obviously what matters is what name you like best, but I wouldn't call Charlie or Reid unique at all. I'd call them super-trendy. Lots of parents are using them. Freida is much more unique. Not a lot of parents using it.

I think somebody said essentially this. But yeah. When I see a kid named Reid, i think "Yup. Another parent who named their kid Reid" versus Freida. I only have ever met one in my life.
  • Aria.  I agree with others, this is wildly popular now, but of the 3 it is the best name IMO.  Have you considered alternatives? Arabella, Ariana, maybe Charlotte, Charlene, Charlize? Anything BUT Spencer. I hate the name Spencer for a man, for a girl it's 1000x worse.

This! What about Charlotte (another southern city), and you can still NN Charlie if you want!
  • If I had to pick from this list-- I prefer Aria. I don't really care for anything else here though. I recoil in horror at Spencer for a girl. :o

I love all the first names! Aria was our choice for a girl name, but we're having a boy. I've never heard of Spencer for a girl before but I actually really like it. I've always loved the name Charlie for a girl. I'm not too hot on Charlston, but love the nickname. I suppose my vote would have to be for Aria though.
  • I am preg with a boy... But for a girl I like Edan and Madison
  • I like spencer Reid. I'm also a HUGE criminal minds fan, but spencer for a girl is adorable in my opinion!

I don't get it, if her name was Freida why would you drop two letters (turning it into a boy's name) and then turn around and give it to your little girl? Why not just use Freida?

Out of your options Aria Lynn is best. Frieda Lynn and Aria Kay are pretty too. There is nothing unique about nicknaming your daughter Charlie, it's the newest trend. And Spencer Reid is totally boyish.
