Fit Mama CheckIn 12/21

Hi all!!! Our fit check in got quiet for a minute and I've been noticing it pick up again so let's start a new one :)

My workouts have been pretty normal still. I've been doing a lot of lifting as usual, but keeping weight a little lower with higher reps. I'm going to buy the Jessie's Girls Prenatal Edition by Jessie Hilgenberg. I highly suggest her if you are into fitness and lifting!

No aversions or cravings here. Mostly I'll see something on tv or pass it driving and want it, but that's pretty normal for me! A small aversion to eggs which I normally just replace with cottage cheese!

I have noticed my heart rate goes up quicker. According to Fitbit my resting heart rate is 73-77 now, up from my normal 60-68. Even the stairs to the weight area wind me at the gym these days. Definitely taking longer rests.

Exhaustion has definitely hit me. We usually get up at 4:30 AM for our workouts. If I can't get up, hubby has been pretty understanding. I'll usually just leave work earlier that day (If I don't have extra grading or teach after school), and we will go in the evening even though it's way busier at that time.

We are going to still hit gym Christmas Eve morning before going to my dads and then again Christmas Day before we go to his family's house. We will be in a hotel with a gym and will pick some healthy food to store in the fridge. Though I will indulge in blueberry pie and all Christmas dinner goodies

Can't wait to hear from all of you!

What have your workouts looked like lately?

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines?

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now?

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise?

How do you plan to stay on track theough holidays?

Edited to add holidays question!

Re: Fit Mama CheckIn 12/21

  • Posted earlier in the other thread, but in the interest of bumping this one... :)

What have your workouts looked like lately?
Sparse.  I only had a chance to run once last week due to some stuff... But looking forward to getting my routine back!

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines?
    None yet...

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now?
Didn't last week. Didn't with my last pregnancy, just a little sore hip.

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise?
NA... Last time I pushed through and felt a million times better.

How do you plan to stay on track through holidays?
Actually having time to get out and run/do yoga videos/eat healthy makes me excited.  I also found out that our cruise ship has a track. So I am way excited about it!

  • What have your workouts looked like lately? I've been running. Nothing over 5 miles. I have been pretty good about getting up early and going with my running friends. They know I'm pregnant so understand I'm a little more apprehensive, but it sure helps having them as accountability partners!

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines? Nothing yet, other than my boobs are getting ridiculous and are testing the limits of my current sports bras.

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now? Headache after. Thinking I need to up my hydration. I already drink a ton of water, but clearly need more.

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise? Exhaustion is the current culprit. I am not letting myself sleep through my alarm. If I don't get the morning workout in, it won't happen.

How do you plan to stay on track through holidays? I will make my husband do some workouts with me. And it will be a good way to get out and escape some of the family craziness since I will be living it up at my in-laws for 5 days.

  • @texasmama2014 a cruise?! Oooo! I've been looking up prenatal yoga classes in my area which I'm super excited for since my gym doesn't offer it.

@LWC1112 I like what you said about not letting yourself sleep through your alarm. I need to be better at that. My husband doesn't usually sleep well so most days he's basically useless with the accountability thing
  • @saam0815 I've looked into Jessie's girls but didn't know she had a prenatal edition! I might have to look into that!

What have your workouts looked like?
Still been pretty consistent. Up @ 5:15 and still lifting. I've had one rough day where my hb was out of control, and I had to stop but it's been good since then! Hoping to get to the gym tomorrow if my son lets me leave him in the child care area so I can get some cardio in as well as lifting.

    Anything hurting your healthy habits?
YES! My eating is so bad right now. Basically the only thing that eases my anxiety is processed carbs. I haven't eaten processed carbs in so long... So this is new for me and I'm still adjusting!

Are you noticing any physiological responses to working out?
Yep... Headaches after. But I'm ok with that. If I learned anything with my son it's that it's worth it later on to work hard now!

How am I staying on track fitness wise with nausea and fatigue?
Basically it is what it is. Do the best I can and be consistent. Mornings are best for me with fatigue and my "morning" sickness usually doesn't hit till around 11 am. So getting up before my son is my best bet!

How do you plan on staying on track thought the holiday?
Same as I do now! Beach body DVDs are my lazy go tos when I'm out of my routine or on vacation:.: so pack those up and my weights. We are gone for a week and a half so I'll have to do my best! And by best I mean no excuses!
  • What have your workouts looked like lately? Cardio, yoga, and classes. I recently joined a gym with a lot of options and am hoping it leaves me with little opportunity for excuses.

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines? I have been craving tomatoes and soups. Nothing bad...yet.

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now? I got a bit nauseated today during an intense class. I couldn't tell if it was morning sickness or the class was a little to intense for my skill level. Probably little of both.

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise? See above. Nothing too bad yet.

How do you plan to stay on track theough holidays? I will still incorporate workouts into my daily routine. It's my me time and I try to do something once a day if I am not working.
  • What have your workouts looked like lately?
Trying to get back into a routine.  I walk a lot (5-6 miles a day) and try to fit in Zumba 2 -3 times a week.

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines?
General nausea causes me to binge eat.  I am really trying to get that under control.  I lost 44 lbs before I got pregnant and am still considered Obese.  I want to have minimal weight gain with this pregnancy.

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now?
I noticed I do get winded a lot easier.  Will need to buy a heart rate monitor to so I can make sure I'm not overdoing it.

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise?
Just push through it.  Certainly feel the exhaustion!

How do you plan to stay on track through holidays?
Will try to get in some long walks and go to zumba on the weekend.  Really need to watch what I eat.
  • All I've been doing is a ton of walking. No running. I will start again second tri after my doctor says it's ok. Also I've not been eating so healthy. Just crave salt.
  • What have your workouts looked like lately? So far, I'm sticking to my routine. I'm not running anything more than 6 miles. And I have noticed I'm a little bit slower, but I don't know if that's because of my pregnancy or because I'm still rehabbing from my last marathon. I really messed up my hip so I'm slowly trying to get back in the swing of things.

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines? All I want is carbs. And if they're covered in cheese, even better. Meat doesn't sound appealing at all but I can usually choke down some. I have to snack every couple of hours or else nausea hits me like a truck. I've gone through 2 bags of Skinny Pop popcorn in a week--it's only about 650 calories a bag, so it's not a huge hit to my diet, and the carby salty combo satisfies my cravings.

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now? I get winded way easier. I definitely notice my heartrate spiking easily too, even during my warmup.

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise? I build in rest and water breaks. My CrossFit coach recommended doing EMOMs (every minute on the minute) or tabatas (8 rounds of 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off) as exhaustion gets to me more. I haven't had to do that yet, but I like that he can modify the workouts for me.

How do you plan to stay on track through holidays? My CrossFit coach will post body weight workouts every day, so I plan on doing those and running as much as I can. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Food will be interesting, because I've been freaking starving nonstop. Maybe not drinking alcohol will help curb the holiday weight gain?

  • What have your workouts looked like lately?  Sticking with my normal routine.  Cycling, Lifting and glad to still be running.  I had such horrible all day sickness, that started so early, with my dd that I had to quit running and had to switch to walking.

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines?  Food doesn't sound or taste good right now so I guess I'm lucky.

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now?  I did have a harder time breathing/talking when I taught spin yesterday but I'm also fighting a nasty cold.  I'm hoping it was just the cold.

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise? Luckily I am an instructor so I am forced to show up.

How do you plan to stay on track theough holidays?  I picked up a couple extra classes for the next couple weeks so that will definitely help.
  • Blah I've been feeling so yucky!! I haven't been been able to walk. Walking the mall to shop with my dad was a massive feat the other day. I'm hating all smells, especially mint, perfume, eggs, peanut butter. I need to find a window to do something. This is my 3rd it shouldn't be this hard!

  • Love the idea of this thread!  We had a similar one in TTC. Can I join in?  Only 4 weeks along and got my BFP a few days ago.  :)

What have your workouts looked like lately?  I am a runner and just started kickboxing this month. I hope to keep it up!  Actually hope to do my pregnancy announcement at a half marathon I have in early February...

Any aversions or cravings that are hurting or helping your healthy routines?  None yet.

Are you noticing any new physical or physiological responses to working out now?  Not yet, and hope it stays that way!

If nausea or exhaustion has hit you, how are you coping to stay on track fitness-wise?  I am just going to take my time and listen to my body. If I need to walk when running, then I will walk.

How do you plan to stay on track theough holidays?  I think that will be the hardest part this week, but that's tough even when you aren't pregnant!  Going to limit myself to one "guilty treat" a day.
