1st Trimester

How long does the m/s "peak" last

Hi everyone, Today I am 8 weeks, 2 days. Since a couple days ago, I started feeling like my m/s is peaking. All day nausea and horrible headaches, can't eat anything but white rice and bagels :(
I'm wondering how long the peak lasts before I'll feel better. A few days, a week, a few weeks? Thank you!

Re: How long does the m/s "peak" last

  • It's different for everyone unfortunately. I know here are girls on my BMB who still suffer with sickness (due in March) and others who felt better once second tri came around. Hope it doesn't last long for you!

  • Hope you feel better soon! I was nauseous daily from 6-8 weeks and have been throwin up daily since 8 weeks. I'm now 11. It has gotten better over time. Now I'm throwing up less than I was at week 9 or so. Also, after time, I started getting used to it. Don't get me wrong, it's still super annoying. But I'm trying to embrace the concept of radical acceptance. It is what it is, I'm just here for the ride. Easier said than done, but mentally I'm coping better when I try to be positive vs. when I was feeling so miserable for bein sick. Good luck!!!
  • Thank you both! I read somewhere that after 8-9 weeks it usually starts to subside even if you're still sick. I'm hoping what I feel now is the worst of it and it will decrease soon!

  • I'm 9 weeks today and started to feel better this last week. Still nauseous and gaggy, but I can eat more foods and have more appetite in general.

Ok, sounds promising!! Thanks for sharing!
  • I was sick from around week 11-18. Saltine crackers were great for keeping nausea at bay. I hope your sickness subsides soon!

  • I started getting sick week 6 and now at 12 weeks 5 days I'm still really suck with no end in sight. It just depends on the person. My step mom had great pregnancies where she only threw up a few times and my sister in law and my mom were sick for the whole thing!
  • Lasted till about 18 weeks for me. You may have a long way to go.
  • Started around week 6 for me, slowly easing up now that I'm on week 12. But it still comes and goes every now and then. I hope this means the end of MS is close for me! FX!
  • I started getting sick around 5.5-6 weeks, I'm now 13w2d and have had a few no-puke streaks of a few days to a week long but it keeps coming back.  Hope you start to feel better soon!
  • I was sick until week 14, but the worst was weeks 7-10 i think. Hang in there!
  • Week 12 and 15 were the absolute worst for me, but like others have said its dif for every woman. Unfortunately I'm one who got stuck with it my whole pregnancy this time around. 3 days out from my due date and I'm still vomitting daily and extremely nauseas.

You're welcome.  Just remember everyone person and every pregnancy is different so even though this has been my experience it has no bearing on what you will feel.
