Middle name to go with Madison?

edited December 2015 in Baby Names
Anyone have any ideas for a middle name first name Madison? Last name is 8 letters and ends in "elly" so prefer something short.

Edited to add: *for a baby girl*

  • Madison Jane was my first thought.
    Madison Noelle
    Madison Nicole
    Madison Faye
  • Thanks I think we would prefer something more feminine for the middle name though for our little girl.

The boy name suggestions were said in jest. Madison literally means " son of Maud* " so it is traditionally a man's name. For me personally, I think it's now in the same category as Ashley, Courtney, and many others that very few actually use for boys anymore.

*I've also read it means son of Mad or son of Matthew but either way, it definitely is a masculine name in meaning.

Hm I didn't know that thanks for the info. I've never heard it being used for a boy. My DH and I are having a lot of trouble coming up with girl names for this little one.

It's quite trendy in style and to be honest will date your child much like the Ashley's of the 80's. Masculine named used in enormous use on girls for a period of time and then the name itself falls off the charts. Personally I don't think it's that great and would avoid due to the above as well as the nn MAddie is very overdone and likely to happen. Are you up for suggestions? Have any others you have discussed ?

I'm definitely open for suggestions! lol some others we talked about are Danielle, Kylie and Ava.  I'm not that crazy about any of them to be honest. I feel like Ava is too short/common and Danielle is my middle name that's why we choose that and my hubby likes it.

  • Danielle and Daniella are both nice an not common.

Ava while pretty I agree is overdone.

Kylie I feel like it works until she is 10 then sounds too cutesy

    Perhaps

    Miranda
    Gabriella
    Bianca
    Audra
    Lydia
    Corrine
    Vivian
    Rebecca
    Theresa
    Hannah
    Kendra
    Cara
    Jenna
    Helena
    Calista
    Anika
    Camilla
    Penelope
    Isla
    Bridget
    Gretchen
    Dahlia
    Selena
    Lucille
    Nadia

  • Danielle is my MN too! I love Danielle/Daniella. I would so much rather be a girl with the name Daniella than Madison. Madison, aside from being a surname and a traditionally male name, is so trendy. I'm over it. You can call a girl Dani if you like a more masculine sounding NN. Also suggesting these names in the same arena as Madison/Danielle/Kylie/Ava:

    Danica
    Kira
    Ada
    Adele
    Madeline
    Kaia
    Molly
    Ella
    Isobel

  • We have Madelyn Leigh and I love her name!

  • Yeah, I would really not use Madison because it's masculine and super trendy (not in a good way) plus the zillion Maddies running around. Madeline is beautiful though... but you run the Maddie risk there too! Ava is lovely but I agree overdone. I teach elementary school and we have SOOO many girls named Ava. Danielle is pretty, but I prefer Daniella since it's less dated.

  • I love Danielle and Daniella.  My DH doesn't like Danielle but Daniella is definitely on our list!

I also agree that Madeline is a great name and is not as trendy as Madison.

I feel like you're calling me old. That aint right. I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS.      ;) Danielle is still fresh and young...I am still youthful.
