Infertility

December/January IVF cycle

Hey ladies. So I watch some of the other cycles do this and really form a bond and I was hope to do the same. I'm 33, my dh is 32. This will be our first IVF cycle. We are doing IVF with ICSI. I started taking bc yesterday 12.14.15. Estimated time to start stim is the first week in January. Estimated retrieval the week of January 18. 5 day wait before et, then 2ww. Is anyone else on a December/January IVF? Good luck ladies. ..

Re: December/January IVF cycle

  • I start prometrium to get a period tomorrow. And then start all my medication after that. Plan is to have ivf in January

  • I may be starting BCPs tomorrow but will know more after morning blood work to ensure my HCG has zeroed out. Tentative plan is to start meds when I get back in town after Christmas so either late December/early January. This will be our first round of IVF as well and I keep flip flopping between excited and "oh sh!t what are we getting ourselves into".

I totally feel you, before everything became definite I was sure we'd never get an answer, then we did and I swear everything sped up, and now I'm like wait let me catch up. Lol
  • I just started birth control pills last week, and I'll have my baseline ultrasound 12/30, starting stims 12/31!  Tentative retrieval 1/11-1/13.

I'm crazy nervous.  I can't tell if I'm more nervous about the possibility of BABY finally, or about the incredible amount of money we're spending/debt we're incurring!

I've had 7 unsuccessful medicated IUIs, old lady (38) with low reserve, and maybe an adhesion pulling my right ovary off course.  This is my first and only IVF.  If this doesn't work, we'll do partner IVF using my wife's eggs, my uterus (she's a smidge younger with better AMH/FSH levels).

Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • Good luck, I keep my fingers crossed
  • Good luck everyone! @KLake42 I feel like I have had those same exact thoughts! It's starting to become real finally and I keep asking DH is he is REALLY ready for a baby, lol! Prob a little late in the game to be asking that.

Well, not starting BCPs today, hcg is still at 20 and have to wait for it to get below 5. My nurse wants me back end of next week but I will be out of town so going back Tuesday. I'm keeping my fingers (toes, legs, eyes, etc!) crossed it goes down by then so I can start. Otherwise Im out of town will Jan 4 and wouldn't be able to start BCPs until then.

It seems like this whole process is "hurry up anD wait"!
  • @mtpbadger I felt like that too hurry up and wait. .....hurry up and wait some more ... then it was like okay come sign the consent paperwork and then bam... high gear, 4 appointment dates...ha.... don't worry after the quick high gear it's back to hurry and wait lmao
  • Good luck to everyone. I'm waiting for AF to start, expected hopefully next week and I will start BCP. I totally agree the whole process has been hurry up and wait!
  • I don't post here often, but we are getting ready for IVF #2. I'm currently on BCP and I will start meds Dec. 23. We are doing a Menopur only cycle this time. Has anyone done that before? Last time we did Menopur and Bravelle.
  • So, I'm crazy and figured I'd start torturing myself by testing early (beta is Sunday morning). I tested last night around 5:00 and got a REALLY REALLY faint line after the 2 minute wait. So faint I thought it might possibly be a shadow. I woke up at 2:30 this morning and thought "let's do another!" So I did another of the same brand (same box) and there was a definite faint line; darker than the 5 pm. At 6:30 this morning I did another, different brand, and there was a definite faint 2nd line. I'm 5dp5dt and 13 days past 10,000 Novarel trigger. I'm worried it could still be the trigger (I didn't test it out) but if it was, would the 2:30 am be darker than the 5 pm (same brand)? I know, I'm insane. Thanks for listening to me rant. Off to buy more tests.....
