What do you think of the name Philip? I'm having my 3rd child and it's a boy.  Older sisters are Gabriella and Juliet.  We call them Gabby and Jules about half the time.  Philip is the boy name we keep going back to but I feel like not many people really like the name.  Do you think Philip fits in with older sister's names? We would call him Philip, I don't want it shorted to Phil.  Any other name suggestions?

I like it but I would be prepared to handle Phil as a nickname at times.  We have generally avoided boy names that we like but can't stand the nicknames for, ex. Oliver(love) Ollie (dislike).

This is my stepson's name and one of his nicknames, that I never would've even considered, is Philth (pronounced "filth"). And no, he's not dirty.

I like this name so much that I used it for my LO born this past May. I liked it because everyone knows it but it's not very common anymore. I've gotten a bunch of compliments on it but of course it's hard to know if people are just saying they like it to be nice. That being said, I wasn't really a fan of Phil as a NN but lots of people call him that now. It's generally people we don't hang out with very often. Closer family and friends know to call him Philip.

Philip is a great name. If you love it then don't be afraid to use it. When people try to call him Phil (and they will) just correct them immediately.

I like it, but I'm biased because my DH is a Philip (it's technically his middle name, but it's what he's gone by since birth).  His mom is the only one who calls him Philip though, everyone else calls him Phil because that's how he introduces himself.

It's a solid name, and it doesn't sound out of place with the siblings. If you like it, use it!

Philip is a solid name that fits in well with your sib set. Phil will be an inevitable nickname, but as PPs said, just be firm. Or you could call him Pip for short.

Just because a name is traditional does not make it "boring". I'd much rather have a boring name than a made up name! If you like Philip, use it! It fits fine with your girls. I would think it was very refreshing to meet a tiny Philip!

I really like Philip, it's a recognizable name but not common. I do think the nickname Phil is unavoidable, though. You can be strict all you want but he will get older and you won't be able to control it!

Dislike Philip. I don't think it goes with the sib set. Also, you can't control what he goes by later so if you hate Phil name him something else. I knew a mother who was upset that her Benjamin went by Ben as a teenager. Ummm that's a natural and a given.
