@FutureMrsCaesar I think light green works with most colour schemes, you could probably work it in with a cute pillow with most designs. If it really bugs you I'd check out discount rocker/recliners that could be repurposed elsewhere later. The usual wooden ones don't work that well design-wise in living rooms so we opted for a stylish lazy-boy style one that we could transition to the living room later. Totally less guilt because we'll have it for decades.
Here's what we have so far. My husband and I drew and painted the mural. He also refinished the mid-century dresser and made the shelving units. We made those shutters out of pine and stained them with a non-toxic homemade stain.
This is what my nursery looks like so far.... At least we bought the paint and the furniture already! Of course, it's just been sitting there for two months...
Thanks for the suggestions on having the chair reupholstered. I'm just wondering if that will cost just as much as buying a new one though. I've only ever had one estimate to have something reupholstered (large ottoman for our couch) and it was basically the same cost as just purchasing a new one. I thought maybe if I sold our current chair on Craigslist or something maybe DH would give me less grief about buying a new one.

I'm in the same situation. I have a khaki colored chair, but am doing the nursery in grey with pops of color. I'm going to buy a throw blanket and pillow to put over the back of the chair to down play the "khakiness" of it. It's not reupholstery (which is just as expensive) but it should make it livable for the time being. You could also look into the prefab covers they make and sell at places like Bed, Bath, & Beyond. They have stretchy sides like a fitted sheet that goes over the whole chair, and then they get tucked in to the seat and cushions. Like this one: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/sure-fit-reg-stretch-suede-3-piece-chair-cover/3247451?Keyword=slip+covers
@FutureMrsCaesar - is it an option to find a throw blanket in the color/theme you like and just use it to cover the chair? DH had a hideous 80's-patterned chair that there was no way I was having out in our apartment, but I had a plain beige throw blanket we weren't using that was big enough to cover it and it's worked like a charm.
I feel like such a slacker. Our nursery is almost completely done painted. We just need to buy one more bucket to finish the closets. However, I got laid off about a month ago, and that set back our nursery plans. It's been sitting mostly painted for the past month. We haven't been able to buy anything yet. We've been getting a bunch of hand me downs, and I plan on going to our local Goodwill warehouse and yard sales to find furniture other than the crib (which we are getting from a family member).
Haven't even started yet, and it is highly likely this baby will be here early Feb. I'm in the middle of moving both my older DDs to new rooms first. After that, a nursery can happen. DH made me promise we'll get started as soon as all the Christmas crap is put away.

We moved into a new house in August. We are trying to get ds1's room ready to go before we even think about the nursery because he is sleeping in the "nursery" while his room is under construction. We are so far behind!! Not to mention the cost of putting together two new rooms!
Well I was hoping to post a few pic here tonight, but our crib was missing some key screws (it's a hand me down crib that we painted). DH and dad went to 3 hardware stores to try and find the proper screws and there are none that match. My dad said he would bring one to a metal shop to try and get them to make a few more from scratch. What a pain in the butt!!!
We set up our crib today!!! Starting to feel very real, and I had a moment of realizing how much I still have left to do. For some reason this was a lot easier the first time around lol
I too feel like a slacker and that I should have more done. The holidays have certainly put a wrench into the prep schedule. Our nursery will be our previous guest bedroom which some things still need to be cleared out and put into another room (previously our office which will now be dual purpose). I do have a crib and dresser sitting in the garage, but my biggest hiccup is choosing a paint scheme. I chose a woodland themed nursery and my colors are going to be white, navy and grey. I'm so indecisive on what color(s) to paint the walls (grey on top or white, or vis versa of chair rail, navy on the wall or is it too dark, birch tree wallpaper)? I think once I choose my paint scheme the rest will fill in pretty easily for me.
I've been laid off since August (had an interview last week, wish me luck). So most of the items in our nursery we either stole from other rooms in the house (the rocking chair) or they were free and we painted (the dresser and shelving unit) or mom bought it (the crib). Since we have no money, the dresser is almost completely empty. But this is our first baby and my SIL is throwing a baby shower. MIL offered to purchase a carseat. YAY! So I think we will get by okay.
I'm sitting here listening to DH rip the paneling off the walls in the room we're redoing for DS. He'll get to move into that room and LO will get the nursery. On the upside, he has discovered nice sheetrock underneath the paneling, so hooray money saver!
@jstanton0822 Our dresser was empty too until after the shower for DS. I only allowed myself to buy one little outfit I got on sale that I thought was just the cutest, but beyond that, we've survived on hand me downs from friends and what we got at the shower (plus MIL likes to buy clothes from time to time). You'll be fine! There's nothing people have more fun with than buying baby clothes
@ecwk no super easy I actually made them out of molding pieces they cost me about $20 all together... I def recommend it super easy project... Thank you everyone I worked my butt off on it would love to get a new rug but that's ok... It will do for now
Ours is a mess. We moved into our current house about the time we found out I was pregnant. We still don't have most of the house ready let alone the nursery. But my dad did stop over today and get the ceiling fan installed. I want that room ready to go by the shower before I load even more stuff in there!!
Some of the older posts I can't see the pictures (they are small but when I click on them nothing opens) @bntfroggie and @Cassie57 pictures were large and I didn't have to click on them. (I'm on mobile).
Need an opinion (or several) on paint color. These are very similar, I know, but I want light and neutral because the carpet color you see is what stays. Which one do you prefer?
@cmerribury That carpet matches mine!!! Could you do three walls in the light color and an accent wall in that beautiful teal? I love the teal but I think it would be over powering for all the walls.
@cmerribury i agree with JLaVO888; maybe you can combine both colors...one with blue and the others grey...are you going to put some furniture against the blue wall? Maybe you can paint that in the grey color...(or am i exaggerating right now...;)
Thanks, everyone! They are two greige options...and are really similar. My husband wants more grey, and I think we need more beige because the chair we are keeping from our first is full on khaki. I'm leaning toward the one on the left, too, @flowerpower5838!
The teal is beautiful, but (though you can't see it in the photos) it totally clashes with the carpet (the carpet reads really green, and the teal reads deep blue, to top it off the previous owners accented with baby blue curtain finials and gold and maroon brocade curtains...I think they may have been color blind). Our master has that paint set up, though, beige walls and then one accent wall for the headboard in a beautiful teal.
Oooo...I see now! I would go with the one on the left if you have white or black furniture and the one on the right if you have wood furnature becuase it's more beige.
I love seeing everyone's pictures! We have started buying furniture but haven't painted yet. We still need to paint the walls and furniture, and have the carpets cleaned. Our walls will be light grey with white trim. The theme is TMNT (the original look, not the new cartoon). I can't wait to get started on his nursery!
Since the master is in the basement & the 2 bedrooms are upstairs LO will be starting in our room in a bassinet. LO will then move to the crib that is in a nook outside the master & eventually upstairs to the guest room. So here's photos of the crib in the nook, baby's dresser/changing table in the master, & bassinet. We have a second living room downstairs that we've added a rocker/recliner to as well, so I think we're good to go but will find out when LO arrives!
Still only in a one bedroom and still don't have furniture (waiting till after shower b/c a lot of family is buying stuff for us) but I set up the pack n play that my dad got us for Christmas!! I was impatient and wanted to see something for baby besides the few little pieces of clothing I've bought. Needless to say I don't think DH was as excited and giddy as me, haha.
Mine is done because we are having another boy. All I have to do is convert the toddler bed back into a crib, put up a photo board that fell down (the missing space by the other three boards), make a new board with the letter C, and another board with Camden written out. Most of my work will be painting and setting up DS1's new room.
Baby Girl #2 - We are doing a demin and bright white with Fuchsia/Magenta accents and I am so excited for it! Nothing done yet but my inspiration came from these pillows at Target.
Still need the small things like changing mat on top of dresser and more storage, but Maddie's room is done! Wanted to avoid pink overload, so we did a minty hue with lavender touches.
I have been avoiding this thread like the plague. I have nothing ready, no idea when we will have it ready... so not ready for them this time. Last time, we were ready by 30 weeks.

I love me a good accent wall. Maybe put the crib on the accent wall and hang some neat things behind it.
