Thoughts on Mira

Up until yesterday we were set on the name Samira, but due to a couple of people's reaction we are in an unsure status now. I found the name Mira and it sounds nice as well even though it's not as close to my Persian roots. American husband says he's fine with either.

The pros is that people can say it easier.
The only con I see is that I was hoping for a name that was somewhat close to my roots?

What do you think?

I would still name her Samira and just call her Mira if that's the case.  Not everyone will love any name you pick.  Samira is so pretty and gives you options.

I know a Mira. She's nice. I'm afraid with the popularity of Myra she's going to get mispronounced. You like Samira. Is it Suh-my-ruh or suh meer uh?

I prefer it as a nn but it's alright standalone. I truly wouldn't let a couple IMO ridiculous comments ruin it. I would use Samira and you can use the nn Mira.

Samira is beautiful and I think passing down your heritage to your child is awesome. People will always have a negative opinion for any name you choose. We picked Adeline and already have heard at least 4 times that someone doesn't like it. Tough shit...

(We have also heard 10+ times that its a beautiful name)

I know Miras and Meras. I think it's a beautiful name.
