It's a great name! Ages well, strong sounding, cute for a kid, easy to spell and professional later. Plus you can give him Calvin and Hobbes books and that will be awesome! I always wanted a fun book/movie character with my name as a kid :-(
DH's #1 right now. I'm not sold. It's not one I'd straight up veto, but there are so many I like better, mostly because of the nicknames (NAF of Cal or Vinny) and the meaning (bald).

Our son is Calvin Jonah and it fits him perfectly. We haven't met another one, but people know how to spell and pronounce it. Of course, having the opportunity for this photo shoot doesn't hurt, either. (so excited to get the pro pics back!)
The only Calvin I knew for years, is in his 20's now (he goes by Cal). It wasn't something that I heard everyday. Now I know several little boys with the name (one of them was born this week), and they all go strictly by Calvin and no nicknames.
