The last few days my little one has had really bad gas. She kicks her legs and her face turns red and she will start to cry. Once she passes gas she is a happy baby. However, it seems like the gas is getting more frequent. I can usually get her to burp in the middle of feedings but at the end she doesn't burp. I have tried the baby gas drops a few times and it seems like they are hit or miss as to whether or not they work. I was going to try gripe water but was wondering if these are things I should get an okay for from her pediatrician first? Thoughts? What have you all done to help baby with gas? I read somewhere that gas production symptoms peak at 4-6 weeks then decrease...anyone experience that?
Re: Gas pain in 5 week old...what worked for you?
She started at 4-5 weeks with gas pain. Gripe water twice a day (although not convinced it works) and gas drops which I feel helped and works within 5 mins (although she continues to be gassy only passes it a bit easier with the drops)
If you are formula feeding try switching (I started on enfamil then similac sensitive and now similac organic because sensitive made it worse lol)
Also we tummy massages and bicycle her legs with every diaper change - I use coconut or almond oil and made circles around her belly button. It seems to help a little in between feeds too.
I hear it gets better by 3 months ... Here's to hoping that's true!
