My husband and I were talking over lunch about which traits we want to come from each of us.
I was born without 9 of my adult teeth and had a horrible experience with braces and subsequent fake teeth. I really want our baby to get his/her teeth from my husband who never had braces and has a gorgeous smile.
However, the baby deserves my hair. Poor husband has been balding for as long as he can remember, with stringy, fine hair. I have thick, wavy hair that I can do anything with.
Anything you can think of that you really hope your baby gets from you and not your s/o (or vice versa)?
Re: From which parent do you want traits to come?
My FH had a horrible jaw surgery/reconstruction when he was 21 years old after dealing with mouth issues his whole life. I, on the other hand, (supposedly) have nearly perfect teeth with no braces, retainers or any issues at all, ever, not even cavities (knock on wood). SOOO he's already hoping LO gets that from me.
I however, LOOOOVE his eyes (gorgeous blue) and his nose (slightly tips up at the end) and just adore it, so hopefully LO gets that from him.
I am very dark complected and tan easily, no burning and have always loved that so I hope LO gets that from me. That's all I can think of. For now.
I, too, hope that our kids get my DH's teeth. He never had braces and has a very nice smile.
I do know that the balding trait... is actually something that I remember learning in biology that the offspring get from the mother. Apparently we carry something that decides whether or not they will bald?? I don't know, but I always remember learning that!
I am short (5'0) and DH is tall (6'0) so I hope the boys get his height and the girls get mine height genes; I mean I hope my kids are taller than me anyway, but I would hate for the boys to be short.
When it comes to personality, I hope they get his social tendencies (I'm really shy compared to him), but I hope they develop my forethought! He can be a little reckless...
I hope the baby gets DH's intelligence ! Also- his blue eyes.
I hope he/she gets my complexion!
We both have a good sense of humor- so hopefully that will be inherent!
Definitely the teeth from my husband! I had just about every mouth appliance known to man + horrible gums... He has perfectly straight teeth with no braces.
I hope our children inherit his metabolism, his wavy hair, and his photographic memory (although not so much his ADHD).
I hope they inherit my good skin, sense of humor, and glass-half-full demeanor.

This is an interesting question. Just discussed it with DH. There is probably no way our LO will get around having bad teeth and poor eyesight since we both do. I was born without one adult tooth too, so I am hopeing the LO at least gets DH's full set of teeth. LO will hopefully not get my DH's scoliosis. As for personality, we hope that LO gets DH's social skills (I'm shy) and my organizational skills.
I'd love to have at least one little boy with blue eyes.
DH has blue and I know I carry the recessive gene for them, so I'm pretty hopeful. I definitely hope that the baby doesn't inherit my teeth... ugh, four years of braces and many tooth extractions.
This probably isn't genetic, but I also hope the baby inherits my ability to stay calm and patient in traffic.
From DH: complexion (never breaks out and tans beautifully), strong teeth, great immune system, good eye sight, height if it's a boy (all the men in my family are short)
From me: everything else
From DH: skin tone (tans, doesn't burn- I burn in 20min), hair (if it's a boy), and immune system (never been sick once in the almost 5 years we've been together), his out-going nature
From me: teeth (only one cavity. DH and his mom have bad teeth problems. He has had $14K in work so far), intelligence, hair (if it's a girl)
Either of our eyes are nice and we're both kinda short. Maybe baby can out-grow us? We both have a good sense of humor too.
I just really hope the baby gets my teeth. I have never had a cavity in my life, and DH has a horrible track record with dentistry. That's all I really care about, lol.
DH does have a dimple in one cheek that I really hope our baby gets. It's adorable.
From me: teeth, curly hair, love of learning
From him: perfect vision, calm demeanor, height, metabolism
