Baby monitor

I need to make this purchase still- wondering which one everyone has and what they like/don't like about theirs! We are hoping to buy from Babies R Us (use up gift cards) and would like a video monitor. I'm aware of the hacker stories- any "safe" monitors out there?

I looked at previous threads on this topic- thought it would be good to repost since our babies have been born and the monitors have been used :)

Re: Baby monitor

  • I can't say much about the hacking, but we ended up getting the Levana Lila from BRU and we love it. The picture is pretty clear, especially during the day. Night mode is great as well. It has a power saver mode so that as long as LO is quiet and sleeping the screen and sound will shut off. As soon as noise is detected it turns back on. My only problem is that the microphone is a little TOO sensitive. The monitor will turn on for just about anything. Overall, though, I'm happy with our choice!

  • We have the summer-something video monitor from babies r us. ( not sure the exact bame)We stared with one that uses an app on your phone and i hated it! This has the camera then a monitor base. I love it. (Not that we use it often since lo doesnt sleep in her crib enough). It can alert you to rom temp and is not overly sesitive. Lo fidgets a lot in her sleep and it doesnt pick up that but will pick up of she starts to cry.
  • We have the infant optics monitor. It has a far range which I like since we have a detached garage with our laundry in it. I heard of some people who used a home security system for a baby monitor which I would have done if we had a bigger house.
  • I use an app called Baby Monitor ($3.99) from the apple App Store. It works great. But you need at least two Apple devices, one as the baby unit and the other as the parent unit.
  • I actually really like our Samsung. Great image even at night tho not sure about the hacking part. I haven't been that concerned...but that's just me :)

  • Second the infant optics monitor. We love ours. Good video, lots of good settings, and has good range as pp mentioned
  • Does anybody know of any apps that can sync different operating systems? I have a Samsung notebook and an iPhone, we traded in our old iPhones when we upgraded so I don't have an extra. Apple really sucks for being able to sync other devices but I scouts hope there is something available.
