Re: TTTC Checkin - 11/02/2015

  • You guys, it's finally November!! My RE appointment is next Thursday. I'm getting more anxious about it now - I've been waiting so long for it to get here, and now it feels like there is a lot hinging on this one appointment and I'm so nervous.

November is my birthday month! it is also the month DH really starts interviewing for residency programs.

  • Currently waiting to test.  I POAS Wednesday.  Temp starting to drop so AF is probably around the corner.

QOTW: DH Bday is in November and we always go camping for Thanksgiving
  • Loading the player...
  • 7 days until our RE appt. I wish we didn't have to reschedule and it was still today. AF came Sat for DW and I know there is testing they like to do at the beginning of your cycle. I feel like this will set us back :(
I have put off (for no good reason except I procrastinate) requesting all of our records, again will probably delay us as well. Def feel down and out today.

This month is crunch time for my schoolwork. I need to finish a class and pass the test and also write a lab manual. All by Dec 1. A little stressful but it is a byproduct of my procrastination I mentioned earlier lol So for me, November=last minute school work.

RE DX for me: Anovulatory cycles/Mild PCOS  RE DX for DW: Endometrioma on left Ovary.

Good luck on your RE appt @twomommiestobe
  • @ceclarlinetlo and @twomommiestobe Good luck at your RE appointments!

    @agriffin92013 FX for you!

Today is CD1 for me so IUI officially didn't work. I'll be getting a hysteroscopy next week and H has to do another SA. We're trying to get all of our pre-IVF tests done before the end of the year since my OOP is met.

Question of the Week:  Anything interesting (outside of TTC) happening for you in November?
Not much is going on this month outside of TTC. I'll be doing some holiday shopping soon.

  • Hello! I am new to the Check ins. My DH and I have been TTC since October 2014. Everything seems to be fine with me, but my DH has low morphology (4). We are currently saving up for the OOP costs for IUI.

Outside of TTC, this month is my hubbys birthday and we have lots of plans for him!
  • Hi! I am also new to the check in board. :) This is our 17th cycle TTC, I'm 31, DH is 33. I am diagnosed with high FSH of 12-16, and he had low morphology (5%) on his first SA in 2014.

    Previous treatments:
    Clomid 100mg + IUI#1: 4/2015 4 follies, failed
IVF/ICSI#1: 5/2015 failed due to poor ovarian response; 4 follicles (2 over mature, 1 under mature, one fertilized but gone after 24 hours).
I started DHEA, CoQ10, and flax oil 6/2015.
    DHEA+Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 10/2015 failed, 2 perfect follies 21mm each.

Current treatment: DHEA+ Clomid 50mg and IUI #3. Hubs will get another full SA this cycle too, so we're hoping for some improvement in his morphology. I'm on CD 10 and going in to trigger tomorrow AM for IUI on CD12. Yesterday's scan showed two follicles at 16 & 17 mm, so we're hoping that the third time's the charm. I'm pretty sick of getting more action from my RE than my DH at this point, so we're taking a couple months off if it doesn't work ;)

As for November, we've been planning a week-long trip to Cape Town for the past six months and it falls during my 2ww, so I'll be grateful for the distraction!
  • I want to start by thanking everyone for their support this last weekend. It meant a lot to me! While, I'm proud I held off on testing, I was literally busting out into tears constantly the entire day and night of mt BFN. It was bad. So, now I'm not quite sure which is worse. I'll probably test early this month. Anyway, today is CD1. I have my baseline appointment tomorrow morning and to check for cysts. Really hoping no cysts this time around. If so, I'm definitely not going back on BC, but will just wait for them to resolve on their own and ask the dr. If I should get a lap done to check for endo before starting another injects round. If no cysts, I will start another round of injects, which will definitely be our last. Hopefully, with a BFP.

  • I called the RE to see if DW could go ahead and come in for testing since she is on cd3. They said no and to wait for our appt next Mon and that we will just have to wait until next month to start testing. I am so upset. It is an extra month of waiting. It makes me bitter at my bosses bc it was scheduled for today (which is perfect timing) and they wouldn't let me off. I am in tears. :(( I am still so confused about how long it takes for the testing, when we will start bcp, and how long (and even how) they will sync our cycles. So I just feel like this was an unnecessary set back.

  • @twomommiestobe I'm sorry! That is so incredibly frustrating.

Whenever I start to get frustrated with the timing I like to think that maybe this is the universe's way of timing our baby's arrival with another event in the future. For example maybe there is a person you are supposed to meet in the future, and you meet them because you both have kids in the same class. Or maybe your baby is going to grow up and do something epically amazingly that's some how dependent on it being born a specific month. Kind weird I know, but it helps me stay a little more sane when I'm going crazy from impatience.

I know the waiting is terrible but I know when you get your baby in your arms it will be worth it.

    New to the board/check in:

TTC since summer 2014.  I had clear HSG & bw, DH has low morphology score.  Currently trying Clomid + IUI.  I'm 31.  Had my second IUI on Saturday, and if there is a next time (which FX there won't be), I am going to take the whole day off from work.  The first IUI, I went into work afterwards (I have a desk job), but being able to relax, physically and emotionally, afterwards, was so much better.

Not much going on in November.  I don't love Thanksgiving, and I'm hoping we'll just have a small meal at home and not make a big deal.  I do love sweet potatoes w/marshmallow, though, and when I'm cooking for not too many people, I just make all my and DH's favorites.

  • We just finished medicated cycle #3 (femara/gonal-f/ hsg trigger) with TI which ended in bfn and I anticipate AF will be right around the corner although she hasn't arrived yet. We have a meeting with my re on Thursday as I'm not sure what our next direction will be. Possibly iui but DH's SA just came back with low morph so not sure what she will recommend. May just take the month off to regroup.

QOTW: My DH's grandmother is turning 100 this weekend so we are headed to Long Island for her birthday party! She's funny...he called her yesterday to tell her we were coming and she goes "Listen, if I'm still alive...ill be there!" She's in amazing health for her age. its definitely a cause for a party!

  • Hey ladies--FX for all you ladies in the next step in our journies. I got my clear hsg and will either start clomid or go through an endometrial biopsy. More information from then tomorrow.

November is nothing big, just holiday shopping and hosting holidays at our house.
  • Today is 9dpiui for me. I am trying this cycle not to symptom spot or test early. This evening threw me for a loop though when I went to the bathroom and noticed some pink discharge on the toilet paper. My gut was AF is coming, but I'm only 9dpiui which is way too early for spotting for AF to happen. So maybe implantation bleeding? I really don't know what to think, and honestly both options seem unrealistic to me. I will officially test on Saturday which will be 14dpiui so I will know at that point! Thanks for listening to my rant!!

QOTW: Other than Thanksgiving and lots of family time, that's about it for November!

  • I'm currently on CD15 and just waiting for CD1 to start ultrasounds and injections (my cycles are typically 26-27 days). I'm expecting my IUI to be around the week of Thanksgiving. This month DH and I have just been shooting for some good timing just in case we get lucky and get KU au naturel... Definitely not getting my hopes up on that though knowing how poor our chances are!

Question of the Week: Anything interesting (outside of TTC) happening for you in November?

Today is our first wedding anniversary... so there's that! :)

So so so sorry to those of you recovering from BFNs and just to everyone on here dealing with the struggles of TTC!
    ***BFP & Child Warning***

    Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
    IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs

  • I am so disappointed in myself. I got our medical records requests done (yeah, talk about waiting until the last moment) and left them at home. I feel so scatterbrained lately. And to make matters worse, I get on Facebook (roll your eyes ladies because we all know that was stupid to do) and of course, ex donor's wife complaining about her pregnancy again! If she wasn't family, I would just defriend her.

RE DX for me: Anovulatory cycles/Mild PCOS  RE DX for DW: Endometrioma on left Ovary.
Reciprocal Ivf Feb 2016. DW eggs and I am carrying. EDD: 10/27/16

  • So, I was able to talk to my doctor about my spotting today and now I'm mad at myself for losing track of everything I wanted to say! Initially, I met with the nurse and explained my concerns about spotting. She mentioned how with me being on prometrium, she wasn't sure why it was happening and that possibly my estrogen could be dropping and causing it. I mentioned how that makes sense since the only time I didn't spot was when I was on estrace and prometrium. She was going to check with the doctor to see if he wanted to put me on estrace after trigger this cycle. When we walked out, a nurse said my RE wanted to talk to me to just check in on how I'm doing with everything (nice of him). I heard the nurse talk to my RE about estrace oit side the door. He came in and we discussed the spotting. He said that we can't identify where it is coming from to know if it is an issue. If it's coming from spots on my cervix, that wouldn't impact anything. But, if it's from the uterus, it may affect my chances. He then wanted to know how many dptrigger I was spotting. This threw me off since i was used to rhinking of it in dpo terms. Then, I mentioned how on my good response to injects round, it started much earlier. He responded, well that's not good, so we can put you on progesterone suppositories this time since it's stronger. I completely blanked on the estrogen question, left the office, then remembered it as I sat in my car. Now, I'm going crazy cause I missed my chance to ask him in person. I guess I just got thrown off or distracted. Ugh.... instead of calling back, I decided I will wait until my Saturday appointment and ask the nurse or him when I'm there just to double check a drop in estrogen may not be the problem. Or, if I could come in for bloodwork post-O to see. If I can take estrace and the suppository with no concerns of negative effects, I want to do that.

Ugh. I don't know why I get so nervous around my RE. He's such a nice guy and not intimidating, condescending, or rude at all.

  • CD 3 here. I've been an emotional terrorist to DH today. I think I really needed to come off all the meds for the month to get my raging hormones under control. All I want is something spicy covered in chocolate and crawl back into bed. This cycle I'm still going to temp and use opk strips with timed bd. Next cycle it's back to meds.

Qotw: It's the final month of nursing school so I will start applying for jobs.
  • @riverigional I do the same thing around my re...go in with a bunch of questions then blank once she's talking to me. I go in on Thursday and I'm bringing notes with me this time so I don't forget anything!

  • @riveridgional and @emgem819 I am the opposite. I went in thinking I knew everything, so didn't try to think of questions (from the bump and Google of course hahaha) then just sat there dumbfounded with a blank stare on my face the whole time! =))

  • I always blank out too during appointments. Every appointment or phone call is so much information to process. Plus all the different names of meds and the testing procedures, cycle day numbers, etc - it just becomes overwhelming! Now I have a folder with all RE documents on one side and my Q & A notepad on the other, and take it with me to all appointments.

  • @riveridgional start writing questions down to take with you. I have to so I don't forget.

I am on CD23 and in the 2nd half of the 2ww. This is the hardest part because I just want to test and I'm impatient.

QOTW: I have a job interview tomorrow. Other than that family time with thanksgiving coming up.
  • I have been so busy at work that this is the first time I can sit down and check in. Warning that this is a rant.

Yesterday sucked. Had early RE appt before long work day. RE apparently couldn't be bothered to read my chart before he came in room because as soon as he started US and looked at my lining he said "Oh, a 6, that's good because it's still early." I said I'm CD20! He said oh. Then both ovaries had nothing measurable. WTH. Argh I'm so mad.
I did Letrozole this cycle after the debacle over the Gonal F costs. Well after BW revealed that my estrogen number is the same as last week, RE called to put me on progesterone to restart period. I am refusing. I am done with this RE. This was my last cycle before a break anyway and my plan to switch to new RE.
What annoys me too is that I haven't been temping because of drugs and now I'm just so angry.
I'm gonna take this time to try to get healthy, get my mind straight, and then plan is to make an appt at new RE (who was recommended by a friend) for end of February. Will be saving my December bonus at work and continue saving for future ivf in early spring.

Qotw: I'm planning a baby shower. Yep you read that right. My bff since middle school is pregnant. She too had fertility issues and wound up getting a bfp after a chemical. I'm very excited for her but it still kinda hurts because of everything I'm going through.
      • TTC #1 since August 2014

  • @Whiggrrl65 That sounds incredibly frustrating, and I'm so sorry you had to experience and deal with that! I hope you have a great break from treatments and are really able to focus on you and enjoy you and your relationship with DH. If this round doesn't work, I'll be doing the same until late Feb or early March while my coworker is on maternity leave. I hope your new RE works out better for you!!

Have a surprise birthday party planned for DH grandma this weekend, and ending the month with camping and then thanksgiving. Still debating on Black Friday shopping or sleeping in!

Hi! I'm new to the checkin board, sorry for being so tardy! I've been TTC for about 16 months, diagnosed with anovulation/amenorrhea, plan is prometrium and clomid. Hopefully meeting with RE soon!
  • HSG test Monday. Freaking myself out researching about it. Unfortunately that's the health care worker in me.

I was also super nervous about the HSG. I guess it can really vary for each woman! Mine was fine.. It felt like bad AF cramps for 2-3 minutes (which seems like ages at the time!) Ask you Dr if you can take any advil or tylenol in advance! Good luck and fx for open tubes!!
  • I wish I could give everyone hugs! It's so nice to feel like we are all in this together, even if the struggles are so hard.

I am probably going to O today or tomorrow. Not sure if I'll catch my surge if it happens today, because I'll be home late and forgot to bring OPKs to work. I am sitting in my GI doctor's office right now to talk about how my Celiac might be impacting my fertility, even though I've been GF for years. Then this afternoon I am seeing an acupuncturist, and I have another appointment with her next week. It'll be interesting to see what the Chinese medicine diagnosis might be. Then our infertility consult visit is early Dec. Finally moving along into some of these appointments!

GTKY: I have a work conference in Washington DC the week before Thanksgiving. I'm excited to spend the week in DC, and especially am excited for DH to join me for the weekend after the conference! He's never been to DC before, so I'm super excited to show him the monuments, the white house, the National Portrait Gallery, etc.

I would love to know how your appt goes today. I have been slowly transitioning to GF and I feel better already! Even though I have GAINED 2 POUNDS (yes, I suck at losing weight) I still feel like I have lost 5 bc my stomach doesn't feel bloated!
