We were going to start actively trying for baby #2 in September after DD turned 1. July we were like eh, let's stop with protection because with DH's travel schedule we figured chances were I wouldn't get pregnant. Guess I should have mathed better about where I was in my cycle. We're super happy though
We planned a first anniversary trip while we were on our honeymoon so we knew we wouldn't try before then. I started taking prenatal vitamins a couple of months before the trip, and we conceived our first try while on our anniversary trip in Jamaica. We didn't think it would happen so soon, but we went ahead and bought a little baby shirt in Jamaica just in case. It worked so I guess he/she will be sporting Jamaican colors at some point!
We decided we were ready to start trying at Christmas this year but were traveling (very long flight from New Zealand) on my actual fertile days that month (over the new years weekend). Got pregnant in February (so technically the first month actually trying). Lost that in March (ectopic) and had to wait 3 months. Conceived this one on the first try as well (June).
With DD we tried for a year and half before we got a positive. With this one we tried in May with no luck, June we were to busy and didn't try. Decided to try in July and if it didn't work we would wait 6 months because we had a lot of stuff coming up and it would be to stressful. Didn't actually think we'd get PG because it took so long with DD but were very surprised and happy to get that positive a couple weeks later.
Stopped BC after July cycle because I was having some negative emotional side effects we finally contributed to that initial med change - had Mirena removed in October and planned to TTC then but my grandma died the next week and so I went back on the pill. Things got funky after that for some time. I quit taking the pill to hopefully regulate hormones naturally.
Nevertheless, wasn't preventing but wasn't trying and BFP came immediately in August. Didn't expect it to be that fast but DS was an 'antibiotics while on BC' baby so..
Took us 8 months to get preggo in April. Lost that in June. Had a D&C June 8th , period July 8th and a BFP on August 8th so I guess this time it was a month.
I was using period tracker to help with my fertile days. How accurate were your trackers if you guys used an app.
My period/fertile frackers were actually spot on. I think the BC I was previously taking actually did its job and mellowed out my cycles to make them more consistent. It allowed very easy tracking of my fertile windows for when DH and I did NOT want to get pg.

Mine were only accurate when I started temping. I ovulate slightly late, so the "window" they gave me would have cut out my fertile days entirely. Without temping, I would not have know this.

Same for me (only accurate after temping), especially after the m/c. Fertility friend was, indeed, my friend.
I was on my first round of Clomid (after trying metaphormen) and it happened. We had been trying to conceive for a year before...over a year if you go back to before the miscarriage. Definitely feeling blessed now at 14w4d!
We tried for 3 years , which is now 2 years ago, and were told we had to do ifv. Turned that offer down, and adopted 3 wonderful boys, and found out we were prego a week before our youngest son came to us, We didn't think it was even possible so guess that counts as not trying right
This is our first semi surprise baby together. I had been charting to prepare for TTC for about 3 months. So technically we were also charting to avoid since our timeline for a baby still had about 3-4 months. My body had different plans. I went from O'ing on CD20-22 to CD9 randomly and TMI but conceived on 4-5 day old sperm. Evidently this baby wanted to be :-)
Me & DH - 2009
Gone but not forgotten: Identical twin boys born at 23 weeks - 2004
It took us a year with our first. Then it took us 2 months, but I miscarried soon after in July and then never got my period. I was pregnant the next month.
DD was a not trying not preventing, but how the stars lined up bc it was a long distance relationship. This one was a lets start trying next month but it's ok if it happens this month and ... It did. I was shocked.
Watching family and friends go through fertility issues makes me almost guilty that it has been so fast to happen for us.
@seasidesweete - I felt a bit "guilty" too, but more relieved that I never accidentally got pregnant when I was younger because of how quickly it happened for us. I got pregnant right away - first month trying. The funny thing is, I had an OB/GYN appointment for my yearly check-up in July and was talking with my doctor about us trying and she recommended I come back in 6 months due to my irregular periods and age if we weren't pregnant by then. First thing she said when she walked in to the room for my appointment at the beginning of September was "Well, THAT was fast!" So funny - didn't think she'd be seeing me again so quickly. I am very thankful and know many friends who have struggled, so I just am happy each day that I can say "I am pregnant today) - 6 months to go!
Re: I'm intrigued - TTC?
So far, so good.
