Belly binder, best thing ever if you have a c section. I was shopping at 72 hours.
Some babies never sleep through the night, my baby is 19 months and has only just stopped getting up 8 or more times a night.
For me a crib was worthless and never used.
I also wish we skipped a toddler bed. We used it about 6 months and the entire time i thought wow i wish he had a big mattress on the floor instead.
Coconut oil with every diaper change, we have never had diaper rash
You can buy all the expensive toys and they will still prefer an empty box and a phone cord

Eating never happened for me. I worked and pretty much if i wanted to eat it happened at work. There is so much to do when you get home from work, wash and clean bottles, feed and bathe the kid, feed the dogs etc . Food sometimes doesn't happen til the baby is asleep

C sections are a possibility! I went in saying there was no way I'd get one, they couldn't make me. I ended up getting and and wish I'd better prepared for it. IF you have to have one, it's no big deal.
The hardest part of having a newborn is no sleep. Don't let BRU suck you in... You need hardly any of the "must haves". You don't need to buy super ahead (ie: toys, a jumperoo, etc stuff they won't use for months). Don't buy what is impractical clothing wise. Tiny skinny jeans are adorable, yes, but a bad idea for babies much less newborns. How many occasions will a 3 m/o have to wear a blouse?! (The answer is zero)

My advice would be to keep a pack of wipes and few diapers in glove box. You forget they are there until your desperate and BAM... Life saver. Don't waste your money on expensive shoes before size 5... They NEVER keep them on. Arms Reach Co Sleeper Bassinet was the best $99 I have ever spent. If you are breast feeding... You will never sleep again. Lol j/k but seriously for the first year I had to get up and pump while my sweet boy was snoozing. Needless to say I had grocery sacks FULL of milk . My son did not have a diaper rash until he was over 1 (daycare) cause I would dab aquaphor on his bottom EVERY change. Literally is the BEST thing I could have done because 1. He never had a rash and 2. Way easier to clean after a poopy. The first 4 days you will OBSESS over how many poopy and pee diapers. I kept a log to make sure I didn't miss one and freak out. Johnson baby lotion smells good but is useless on the dry peeling feets. Don't waste your time or money. Aveeno works way better. Munkin diaper pales are 100% worth it. Loved Tommee Tippie bottles for BF babies. When you are out in public, the trunk makes an awesome changing table. Even though people stare at you. Haha. First few rides in the car with new baby are SOOOO scary! Def feeling the pressure of precious cargo! Night sweats first week or so are normal! You will feel like you peed the bed and will have to change sheets. Ew! Oxy clean spray stain treater works MIRACLES. Video as much as you can! I LOVE going back and listening to my sweet boy coo! Video his/her first bath ect. Nothing will make you cry more! Before you know it they are turning 2! It FLIES!

That whole "it shouldn't hurt if the baby has a good latch". No, the first two weeks of breastfeeding are terrible. After that you will be ok. Enjoy it because after this baby you will never have one on one time with another child like this. Breastfeeding doesn't mean eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's EVERYNIGHT. Crock pot bags.
I love all the advice everyone has given! I came up with 3 main things I wish I knew, but I'm pretty much just echoing what people have already said. 1. Just because you are pregnant/postpartum and hormonal, does not mean your feelings are any less valid!!! It's okay if you are feeling really angry or sad or happy over stupid little things, or even really big things. Let the tears flow, let the feelings out. You will feel so much better if you do that than if you try to bottle everything up and analyze every feeling to see if it's "real" or not like I did. And if you need help, get it. 2. Take it easy in your last trimester, and take your recovery slowly. I stayed way too busy right up til the end, and rushed to get back on a schedule after. It took me over 12 weeks to heal, it was bad. 3. Take time for yourself. Even if it's just half an hour to make yourself feel pretty or to look at clothes while shopping at Target, don't forget to take care of you! You will be much more able to take great care of your sweet baby if you feel taken care of yourself.
If labor doesn't go as planned, don't beat yourself up over it. I felt so much guilt for blacking in and out of dd birth, but it happened and nothing can change that.
If you have a section... it is possible to have a good recovery. Seriously, walk as much as possible. My recovery was a breeze after walking back and forth to the NICU for 10 days. Move move move. It helps immensely.
