mine was fine UNTIL I conceived. I'm now on 75mg synthroid a day. haven't had updated bloodwork but I'm doing some friday. hormones messed me all up lol
I have had Hashimotos Thyroiditis and fibromyalgia for almost 8 years and this is my first pregnancy. I knew I was pregnant the second my pain went away 100% and my fatigue changed a whole whole lot. I've been used to feeling so out of it that I feel like I'm walking on clouds every day, now that I'm pregnant I feel like a million bucks. I get sleepy, but a nap actually does the trick. I'm strongly considering talking to my endo and rheum about hormone therapy for treatment once this baby is born.
I have Hashimoto disease (I was diagnosed after DD). The only changes I've had as far as the disease goes is changing from generic meds to name brand and I've (for the first time ever) gone to Hyper instead of Hypo. I'm finally in the range I'm supposed to be. I've been dealing with this for 2 1/2 years. PM is you'd like.

@mrszoess I agree with @doozer1345, I have never heard of that either. All I do know is, for anyone who is new to synthroid or other thyroid medications, be sure to take them EVERY SINGLE DAY. I was very stupid and chose to try to take a homeopathic route to my Hashimotos and I wound up after 10 days of not taking it in the Neurology department at Cedars Sinai with arm seizures and severe migraines (I had never experienced either beforehand). It took me another 10 days after we figured out what was going on to get synthroid back into my system for all of that to stop. Please don't forget your medicine, thyroid disease is very very serious and needs to be treated.

I have lupus so the synthroid being so tiny is my favorite pill out of all of them! also you officially scared the crap out of me and I really won't stop ever ever. (that's what I get for reading bump when I should try and go back to sleep after middle of the night sickness)

Not to scare you further but mine went untreated and they treated me for post partum instead of checking my thyroid. I didn't end up taking the psych meds. DH was about to put me in the nut house. I was hearing voices that weren't there, I felt literally drunk all the time (not in a good way and I was a new FTM), I lost a lot of my hair, and I would talk to people that weren't there. Once I got to someone who would listen to me, we found out my TSH level was 150+. The doctor said had I gone any further untreated I would have gone into a self induced coma which 90% of the time becomes fatal. Missing meds and messing with your levels is no joke.

holy crap! I am glad you're doing better, and I'm going to preach about thyroid checks to every single person I know now.
This is probably a weird thing to say, but I am delighted to finally have an official hypo diagnosis. I had been "borderline" (just a hair over 4) for years and I couldn't get anyone to take me seriously when I complained that I felt sluggish all the time and it was becoming impossible to lose weight unless I engaged in unhealthy ED-type activities like massive restriction, obsessive exercise, or purging. Even though hypo runs in my family and my mom had a partial thyroidectromy a few years back, my GP and a specialist just basically shrugged. But when my TSH came back at a 6.5 around week 5 of pregnancy, suddenly it was a race to get me on Synthroid. Already I am feeling worlds better. The constant fatigue and haziness is gone, weight is coming off (OB says this is ok, I was overweight starting out), and I feel healthy for the first time in forever. My last labs were 1.6. I'm so grateful to my little one for giving me the push into the red zone.
WOW @doozer1345 when I got diagnosed I had gained 80lbs in a year (which now even being on synthroid for 7/8 years AND trying t3 to help with weight and symptoms, still have yet to lose those 80lbs and I eat exceptionally well and I feel just as terrible as before my diagnosis) but at least I know my thyroid levels are in range! My numbers at diagnosis were around 50 and my doctors were SHOCKED! can't imagine 150+, how scary! So glad they got you treatment.

Yeah instead of losing weight when I gave birth I gained more weight. I've never been heavier than 150lbs but got up to 210lbs (I'm 5'4!). This pregnancy I haven't gotten swollen immediately like I did with DD. I feel like I've gained a boatload already though. Maybe it will slow down in the 2nd tri.

I had Graves disease. I had a total thyroidectomy last year. I had regular blood tests and had multiple normals before my endocrinologist gave me the ok to start trying. The month prior to conception, my TSH was 0.8 (our goal is 1.0.) The next month, I was pregnant, it was a 2.7. In 6 weeks, my dose of Levoxl has gone up twice. I get checked every 4 weeks here on out.
I'm so glad I found this thread! I was also borderline hypo for years, and then at 5weeks, I was told I was being put on synthroid. After looking at Dr. Google, I found that it was rare to get hypothyroidism when pregnant, so I was confused. Note to self: Dr. Google is a pregnant woman's worse enemy lol
@RaquelFry To me, it makes perfect sense, especially if you were borderline, to be pushed into the unsafe number zone enough to be put on synthroid now that you are pregnant. Your metabolism, around with practically EVERY other aspect of your body are changing during pregnancy and your hormones are sky rocketing, thyroid controls everything in your body so would make sense that your numbers change. I'm getting blood work done once a month while pregnant to make sure my dose is sufficient, so when/if it is not sufficient, we can increase. @Mumstheword27 similar, to me it sounds about normal for your numbers to be changing as well. The second I got pregnant I just expected to have more endo visits and expect lots more blood work and medication changes, it's just part of the fun!
@mumstheword27 I actually was officially diagnosed with my first pregnancy with hypo so it does happen pretty frequently from what I read back then. Luckily some people go back to normal range afterwards and no longer need meds where others have it long term. We are pretty sure mine was due to weekly cat scans and neck X-rays from breaking my C1-C2 and it just took the pregnancy to throw it full force.
