What's left on your to-do list?

I know we had an older thread about this but since many of us are getting so close to our due date, I figured an updated one was in order. What do you still have left to do before baby's arrival?
Here's our situation:
DH and I finished assembling everything this last week (swing, bouncer, pack n play)
This week we are going to install the car seat bases in our cars.
As far as her nursery, everything is ordered and we are just waiting for it to get here. The main things are here, waiting on rug, lamp and pouf.
I still need to finish getting my after delivery needs, pack our hospital bag, get a few nursery decorations and get her a coming home outfit.

After that, we will be completely ready! I'll be 34 weeks on Monday and we plan to have everything ready by 36 weeks. Not much time left, but I want to be prepared in case she makes an early debut.
What's left on your to-do list?

Re: What's left on your to-do list?

  • Hmmmm... The is baby #2 for me so I pretty much had everything. All of the clothes are washed and put away. Furniture is set up and nursery is done besides decor. I need to get some wall decor and a throw rug. I have to clean up DS swing and RNP. I need to sterilize the bottles. (Not in a rush because I'll be nursing the first months). I need diapers. I need to install car seat. Hospital bags are packed.
  • Loading the player...
  • We have insurance coming Tuesday to see if they will pay for the repairs that need done (roof and windows) then I have a little bit of painting left, need to get someone to come in and measure the carpet and put the new carpet in, buy a pac n play, stock up on diapers, pack the "extra" things in the hospital bag and wait for the hospital to call to discuss the testing I need to go in for my section which won't be until the week before that they call lol.
  • Clothes are washed and put away... and her room is pretty much good to go... except the crib, lol. DH still seems to think we have forever to go - but we've got 6 weeks ish before she makes her appearance.
I haven't even started on a hospital bag, but I probably should sometime soon. And we need to put the base in my car. I'll probably have DH do that tomorrow for me.
I'm procrastinating because it's keeping me from panicking with how close it's getting.

oh my gosh, so many things left on my list!!

    -finish sanding and painting crib
    -assemble everything! PNP, swing, stroller
    -install car seat
-stock up on some freezer meals
    -train my replacement at work
-tie up some legal stuff: will, guardianship, etc
-tour the hospital, pack bags for me and husband
    -pick a name!!!!!
    -deep clean the house
-buy a new mattress (for me and husband, we've needed one for a while and keep putting it off)
-a million other random things I'd like to get done to treat myself before baby, like pay someone to detail my car, get the tires rotated, clean out the garage so I can park my car in it this winter (it's supposed to be a snowy one), finish chanukah/christmas shopping, etc

Time was moving so slow for me in the first two trimesters (and I felt like crap!) that I put a lot of stuff off thinking it would help the last few weeks go by faster. Boy was I right, I've got 6 weeks left to do all this stuff and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I'm pretty type-A, but since I've been pregnant I've been feeling a little more laid back, like this baby is not going to give a crap if my baseboards are clean, haha, that thinking is helping take the stress level down a notch.

  • OMG we are so screwed! I'm 33 weeks and we moved into a new house in June so we've been focused on getting the downstairs done, so now I have a list the size of @bellie1223. Basically the nursery hasn't even been started and we would also like to get my son's room finished too. But, we do have a bassinet so the baby has a place to sleep so we will survive. Seems like it's possible to get everything done but with 3rd trimester fatigue, a 2yr old, and the fact that my son came at 37 weeks I'm not so sure.
  • I need to stock up on diapers/ wipes.
    I still need cradle sheets.
I need to pack me and SOs hospital bag.
I need to make our shared room somehow expand.
I need/want to sand and paint rocking chair and cradle where my pups chewed.
I need to do more laundry.
I want to get a basic first aid/ medicine kit for baby.
We have a hospital tour next week.
    Find a pediatrician.
Baby shower when I'm 36 weeks.
    Car seat and swing assembly.
I'm sure there's some other little things here and there.

But as for stuff around the house, I need to finish painting bathroom, the kitchen, and touch ups on the living and dining room. I need to clean everything since no one else in this house does. I want to make some freezer meals because if I don't it'll just be burgers and takeout and meatmeatmeat. I wanted to painted back patio but psh. There is also a lot in the garden I want to get done so that at first I can just tell someone to go water it and that'll be all.

Only a handful of actual necessities, but I want to do it all.
Whew. That was more for me, it's all been a mental list.
  • I need to sterilize the breast pump, clean the car and install the carseat and pack everyone's bags. And find a pediatrician for DS1 and the baby. I have a scheduled c section in 4 weeks so I'm slowing down a lot on what I'm doing.
  • Not too much left on my list. Got to back hospital bag and pick up a few remaining little items. We have a sprinkle tomorrow so I will be able to get the final list of what we need together after that. We go on Tuesday to see if she is still breech if she is we will be scheduling our c section. Sorta waiting on that to finalize plans for my other kiddos and put together some freezer meals. DH doesn't want to put the base in until after she is here just in case the van is in an accident he doesn't want to buy a new one lol that's about it
  • We just moved last Friday! I felt like I was going crazy because I couldn't do much to prepare. Especially since I just had my baby shower a week ago and my family kept telling me to hold off on buying anything until I got my gifts. So, as of this past week, we have a crib. My DH just doesn't seem to think I need to worry about assembling it right away (Then I reminded him that babies are considered full term at 37 weeks. I'm 35. Reality hopefully set in.) We just bought the stroller/car seat this week too and I probably sound like a crazy person, but I'm making my DH get his car cleaned before we install that. Hospital checklist is printed and I've ordered all of the items I didn't have on hand...nursing bras, tucks pads, stool softener etc (Pinterest hospital bag checklists have been extremely helpful!). All of the baby clothes are washed and my first order of diapers/wipes from the honest company is on its way (40% off the first order...figured I'd try it for a month). We still don't have any other furniture for the nursery, so it's hard to organize everything, but I figured I'd concentrate on finishing the important stuff first like getting the crib and car seat installed this weekend and tackle the rest of stuff as I can. Really looking forward to my maternity leave. It's been so difficult to get stuff accomplished working 50 & 60 hours a week, hence why I do pretty much everything online!
  • Love this because it forced me to think about what I have to do!! Not much, but I have to pack hospital bags, finish washing clothing, put together swing and PNP, hang up decor in nursery, make some freezer meals, install car seats in both cars.... I think thats it!!
  • Oh gosh! You ladies are getting into detail, and reminding me of things I still need to do lol. So here's my brain dump of even more tasks to accomplish.
Wash and sort new born outfits
DH needs to finish touch up paint upstairs
I want to do some freezer meals but DH doesn't want to... I might just let him win that battle :)
Deep clean as much as my third trimester self will allow
Make sure all of our storage places are organized... closets, garages and attics
Ok I think I'm done! I'm sure more stuff will get added. This list seems to never end!

I was going to do freezer meals at first, but I've decided to just do crock pot meals for the first month. Less prep time required and less storage space required. I'll probably stock up on meat at Sam's before Nov and then just have to get the extras as I meal plan.
  • Perfect timing for this thread. My EDD is 1 month from today so I'm really starting to take stock of what still needs to be done!!

    - Install car seat (this weekend!)
    - Purchases a few more things for the nursery (lamp, hamper waterproof mattress pad)
    - Lots of around the house stuff we wont want to do when baby is a newborn (paint the deck, various repairs, etc.)
  • Finish packing hospital bag. I keep taking stuff out and putting other stuff in cause I have no idea what I'll need lol. Finish finding and putting up wall stuff in the nursery. I'm deep cleaning my house today so hopefully just small tidying up here and there from now until B-Day. Baby shower next weekend. Otherwise I think I'm good? I probably just jinxed myself lol
  • Finish washing and putting away his clothes, put up the crib, do the car seat and hospital bag, from there it's just wait and incubate until he's ready. ;)
  • We have the big stuff done, just need to get down to the little stuff:

    Set up diaper service
    Wash newborn/0-3 clothes
    Finish packing birth center bag
Finish picking up post-partum care items
    Get haircut
Clean and organize non-nursery areas of house (nursery is done)
  • I have everything to do. DH hasn't painted Ellie's new room so Maddie's bed is still in the box. None of the clothes have been gone through nor washed/organized. The car seat base probably won't be installed until the day we leave.

I'm kinda pissed about it....no, I'm really pissed about it because this means I will have to do it all myself once I get home. I can ask him to do it until my face turns blue but he will never get out of his procrastination rut. I blame his mother. She is in the same rut. She's offered to help but when it comes to it, something always comes up and they put it off another week. I have 20 DAYS MAX until Maddie's arrival. I don't want to organize 2 kid rooms when I get home.

    Sorry for the rant..

  • I have nothing baby related but it's all baby related to me... Makes sense?! I started painting my front room and I want/neeeeeed that finished. Need a chest of drawers for the kids clothes to go in. Need to google my tens machine to see how I should use it. Nothing important really but stuff I really want done!
  • The biggest thing I still need to do is make my baby carrier. I have a Baby Bjorn that was a gift, but am making a Ring Sling for when the baby is still small and swaddled. I have the fabric and rings, just need to get over to my grandma's to use her sewing machine.

I also need to finish my hospital bag, but many things that will go in it are last-minute (the comfy pajama pants I'll be wearing home, but am currently wearing right now!). I am going to buy a travel toiletry set, just so I don't have to try to remember my toothbrush and whatnot
Baby number 1 on the way!

  • I'm done
We need to hang his curtains, but I'm not worried. Everything else is done.

  • I need to get the house cleaned and probably wrap my head around the fact that I'm going to have a child that belongs to me here soon. DH is preparing for deployment so I have been in full on nest mode for the last few weeks. there will always be something to do.
  • Agree with those who said this is helping them think of things! My shower is next Sunday so I am not really what I still "need". I do need to get a few supplies for myself for my hospital bag, I will probably clean the house every single day while I'm out on leave so in not too worried about that. I do need to make a trip to Goodwill to donate items and make room (should do that before shower), get my car serviced, get breastpump ordered through insurance, set up visit with pediatrician to see office, hospital tour on oct 19th. Wash newborn and 0-3 clothes... When is a good time to do that?! I want to go to ikea to get a throw rug, nightstand and lamp for the nursery.
  • wow- you guys are so far ahead of me!! We finally got paint in the nursery!! Hubby has to finish sheet rocking the storage space, and then I can clean the carpets. The closet build out shouldn't take long and then we can get the crib moved upstairs and set up. My co workers and a good friend decided  I needed to have showers, so I am getting two at the end of the month!! So overwhelmed by their kindness!! I have been trying to be patient and wait until after to go buy anything.... but it is hard! I have lots of clothes, but no diapers or wipes. No crib sheets or towels, etc. Patients is so hard right now because I just want to be done!!  Have some of the big basics (swing, boppy, bouncy seat, bassinet, baby tub) because I have awesome friends who have been bringing me things they no longer need and don't want to store. Hubs and I will probably make a trip after my shower to finish up with the car seat. I did go get all of my post delivery mommy stuff at Walgreens last week so I can get my bag started. How are you all doing staying patient??? It is hard!!
  • We re in the process of moving to a new house, have the crib and other stuff. Need to wash the newborn clothes and buy a swing. Feeling somewhat prepared since we re not moving too much stuff and I feel like I still have 3-4 weeks. I should look at pediatricians near the new place
  • Install car seat, pack hospital bags, hang a few more things in the nursery and wash a few more things. Other than that we're pretty much ready. Had two showers and have put it all up. Finished this week getting the things we still needed. Went and got myself two new pair of shoes this morning since I can't wear any of my fall/winter shoes right now. 6 weeks left give or take left. Sitting on go!
  • I still need to install her car seat, assemble her crib and dresser and finish washing her clothes
  • All my showers are next week so I'll have to get everything put away and washed. The nursery is done other than I need my husband home to help me hang the decor (he works always several weeks at a time). Bags packed and essentials have already been purchased so I feel like we are mostly ready at 36 weeks.
  • I have my crib put together but I still need to get her bedding.
I need to paint & organize her closet then wash her clothes.
My baby shower is tomorrow so I can get her carseat & other important things put together that I get.
I need to pack a hospital bag & find a coming home outfit.
I need to call insurance & see how many days are approved for hospital stay.
Last but certainly not least, just get finishing touches for nursery..

Wow this thread was helpful. I haven't even sat down & made a to-do list, just sat around thinking I'll do that tomorrow...
  • Pretty much done. Just need to grab some button down pj's from Walmart since I don't own any. I don't know why I keep putting it off. Maybe it's just the thought of having to go to Walmart. I can survive without them but since I'm attempting to get over my fear/phobia of breastfeeding I figure something new for that particular reason might help. Dumb I know. Other than that bring on baby.
  • Wow. I need to make a list....

    1. Wash and put away baby clothes and sheets.
    2. Go get a breast pump. My insurance covers it so I should really go in soon. Not sure where to go but will figure it out this week.
    3. Fill out and submit papers for maternity leave with work.
    4. Pack husband's bag (doesn't need much, hospital is 5 minutes away).

Okay, so not as much as I thought! #:-S

  • Im all done except for putting a few things back in my hospital bag that i keep taking out
  • This is number two so the biggest things are making an appointment with the police department to have my car seat installed and setting up the cosleeper.... oh and put together lesson plans for my sub and complete a curriculum project for my grad class.... but I'm going to pretend those last two don't exist for now.

    This thread inspired me today!!
I got a bunch of diapers and wipes, on sale at Target. I cleaned and organized our room, like to where I am actually happy with it and things are accessible but not cluttered.
I get such anxiety with clutter.
I went and purchased laundry detergent (with a coupon, I feel like such a mom..) to start laundry tomorrow.
    Thank you ladies.

I found some cute 1/2 button up shirts at Target that would go awesome with leggings (pretty sure you said you love/live in leggings) and would be easy access to breast feeding.  They'd look adorable with a scarf that could be used as a nursing cover. They're cute in general too.  Maybe that would get you excited about breast feeding and get you more comfortable with it.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • I am done with baby showers so I think I know what I have left to get/do.

    Remaining Nursery Purchases:
    - A few more waterproof mattress pads.  Layering FTW!
    - Curtains
    - Shelves
    - Organizing bins/baskets (multiple throughout the house)

    Remaining L&D/Postpartum Purchases
    - Nursing tanks
    - Postpartum clothes
    - Nipple cream
    - Depends/pads
    - Big Sister presents

    To Do
    - Put swing together
    - Install car seat bases
    - Wash and organize clothes
    - Set up diaper/wipe stations (in bins/baskets throughout house)
    - Put up curtains/shelves in nursery
    - Double check on FMLA/Maternity issues with work
    - Get breast pump prescription & breast pump
    - Pack hospital bags
    - Wait impatiently

And have my baby.. I'm pretty much set.. Oh and go on maternity leave.. Yeah I have restrictions but I have still been doing over nights I just make their breakfast and give them there medicine at 7:30am.. Yup $9 an hour to sit and watch tv and then make them scrambled eggs and put medicine in a cup.. Thankfully they moved the one lady who gave me all sorts of trouble and damaged my poor truck..

NP.  The online selection appears to suck, but this is one of the shirts I saw at the store.  They had it in a black and white flannel plaid and a few others too.  https://www.target.com/p/women-s-denim-favorite-tunic-merona/-/A-17106636#prodSlot=_1_5

Hi!! I just went to target pharmacy and they filled my breast pump like a prescription. Pretty smooth. You can call your health plan to see which places are in network!
