How to dry up milk

DS won't nurse & pumping I'm only getting barely 1oz total every 3hrs, therefore I've found a donor & I'm going to stop pumping. What is the best way to dry up the little bit of milk I do have?

Re: How to dry up milk

  • Sudafed or birth control pills.

  • I did peppermint essential oil in my tea, altoids, peppermint and sage tea, cabbage leaves, and cold compresses.
  • With my first when my supply dropped that low I didn't have to do anything. My breasts stopped gettingsuper full within a day or two. I still lactated for a few weeks but it wasn't painful and didn't bother me. If you are getting engorged just hand express to comfort and let your body do its thing. If there's no demand it'll stop supplying.
  • Benadryl worked for me.
  • Frozen cabbage leaves and ace bandage for me..9 years ago
  • Benadryl, sudafed, cold cabbage leaves, 1/4 tsp sage 3x's/day (i mixed it in a spoonful of peanut butter or yogurt), alternste tylenol and motrin for discomfort first 48 hrs. That's what I did for three days after 4 weeks of ebf
  • I'm going to try the cabbage leaves. Will the cold compress help with the soreness in the o e breast? It almost feels like when I had a clogged duct.
  • I did cabbage leaves/ice packs. It did help with the soreness. I only got super engorged for a couple days and I started BC. I still got mastitis though and ended up having to take an antibotic. So just watch out for that!
