Re: Low AMH Level

  • @wenikilina congrats on the arrival of your twins! I know NICU will be nerve racking, but I am so thankful they are here and in good hands. Sending you all the good vibes as you get through this time until they are home with you.

@Hopeful_mom I am 38. I think I'm a bit worse off than average for my age group, and I have autoimmune issues that probably make it a little harder. I am kicking myself for getting my tubes tied in my 20s - what an idiot I was. Not that it might have made much of a difference, as I didn't even think about trying until about a year ago. I know how tough it is, but hold on to the success stories of so many of the women in this thread. I know it gives me so much hope.

  • Hi ladies so its becoming real i gor my doctors orders today this is what it is looking like

Aygestin is a form of bcp i guess just to quiet down the ovaries i will be on that 2 weeks i believe  once i start af then these are my injections aa anyone have this protocol? Im so anxious but also scared of the aide effects

Follistim (or Gonal-F) 225 units daily

    Menopur 75 units daily

Ganirelix 1 prefilled syringe daily once started

Pregnyl (HCG trigger) 10,000 units, 1 time

  • @Hoping4Success that was very close to my protocol, except I was on estrace instead of BCP, and my dose of Gonal-F was 450 units/day (which they kicked up to 575 in later days of stims) and 150 units of Menopur. Best of luck!
  • @heather041413 yes i am debating on the gonal f or follistim my re recommends follistim so im not sure but what i meant to ask my nurse is when i order my perscription how do i know it isnt enough to befin with like what if i have to bump my dose and blah blah anyone know
  • @hoping4success you'll be fine with the meds they will know and can get the meds to you within 24hrs. They usually order you enough for a cycle.

Ladies as for me, I went to see my RE on Friday and we are going to put two in (even though he's not thrilled to put both healthy embryos in but I'm 36 going on 37 in a few months and I don't want to do this twice especially at 38/39). Anywho we will start estrace when I get my period in three weeks and and probably do the transfer first or second week of September. I'm super excited and nervous even more because I want this to work. We all know the breakdown I had back in February lol. 7 months in the making lol and a year of meds, IUIs and IVFs. Ladies there is hope for you yet. If I can do this for almost a year as of Aug 31st 2015,,, so can you. God Willing it won't take as long for you lol. So I will be keeping everyone posted.

@wenikilina please check your inbox lol

@kp214 I've always wanted twins even though I know it's a lot of work but it will get easier as they get older. Even parties etc will be two for the price of one haha

  • hi all -
One IUI down and one to go
I feel like i'm having cramping that i didn't have as much as the first time, does anyone know how long it lasts for?

The big thing that is concerning me the most is how LOW my OH sperm count was.

First IUI we had 67.5 million count, motile was 99, total motile was 26.8
(i thought those were good and they were happy with those numbers as well.)

    Today IUI
12.9 million count, motile was 43, total motile was 2.2

I'm just shocked at how low it dropped and its 24 hrs from one tme of dtd to the sample he gave. Yes we're stressed but i can't believe it caused that many issues.  They said its not exactly where they would like it to be but still good enough.  I know I only need one BUT those numbers are really upsetting.  Trying to stay positive as I can....with going to acupuncture after the IUI i literally first got to work at almost 1pm.  This is all so time consuming and it kind of hurt too...doing another tomorrow.  I didn't tell my OH i don't want to upset him and really hope that tomorrow will have a better outcome.  Has anyone gotten a positive with these type of numbers.  Maybe its my fault as we dtd mon morning just in case.  It was a few days so they said to make sure it was fresher...if that makes sense...now i'm just concerned.

@lsatturo126 yay!!  so excited for you!!  i would want the twins as well!!  yes yes yes!!!  might be joining you....
@heather041413 i know its tough and frustrating but hopefully our time is now!! I can't believe you had the courage to have your tubes tied so young, g-d bless ya!  I didn't take BC all these years just not to screw up having kids and we see how well that process has gone  :s
@Hoping4Success good luck hoping it  all goes smooth;y for

The clomid alone makes me feel like i'm having hot flashes at night i'm afraid to start the rest of the meds later o:sweat:

Once i get my 2nd IUI done tomorrow i will be making an appt for ivf orientation, i think seeing how low my OH sperm was today means i need to go for it.  Can't believe the drastic difference, its insane to me!!

    hi everyone!!
i'm happy to say 2nd IUI went really well, nurse said it was textbook, so here is praying it is!! OH sperm count was still not great BUT the motility was up to 85 which is great!!  SO technically between both IUI i've got about 4.5million to get the job done.  It concerns me with the previous IUI i had 27million with 99 motility and it didn't take so that is what makes me sad and concerned.  BUT I did go to acupuncture and I'm getting pregnant this month   Really praying my sticky bean is on the way Just relived to have gotten through both IUIs successfully!

  • @Hopeful_mom you've got the right attitude! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
  • @Hopeful_mom best of luck... It only takes one!

@LSatturo126 so exciting! I would also prefer transferring two, but was told it would be based on the grade of my embryos.

    @wenikilina congratulations!!!

Question for you ladies: how many follicles did you have at your baseline? I wasn't very happy with mine and then at my first follow-up I somehow lost two! I go back tomorrow so I'm hoping those two were just hiding and show back up. In the past after stims I always gained a few follicles, so I'm hoping that this month I do the same.
  • @Stars2016 I started off with 10 and by the time ER came, I only had 4 decent follies & retrieved 6 eggs. I had other follicles but their growth wasn't as consistent as the good 4.

  • Thanks @capps42613! I'm hoping that some of my follicles also contain more than one egg.
  • Thank you so much for all of the support! It really does help. The twins are doing well. Each day, so far, they are taking small, positive steps. It makes me so happy to see them. I also have my moments where I cry when I see them because I wish I could hold them and take them home. But I know that this is where they need to be right now and it will happen in time. Even though they are in the NICU, I am getting very little sleep. My husband has me on a very strict pumping schedule, every three hours! Gosh, he is amazing. I would be lost without him right now. We take the babies milk everyday and that makes me feel happy to know I am doing something to help them!

@LSatturo126 Yay!! This is so exciting! I am looking forward to September. :)

@Hopeful_mom Glad both IUIs went well. Hoping for that BFP!!

@Hoping4Success How exciting to get your med list! You are on your way.

@twomommiestobe How is your pregnancy going? I feel like I have cut out early on you! Well, I guess I have... I really did get cut out. Haha. Every now and then I think how I did not even make it to the third trimester and I am in shock all over again!

  • @wenikilina im so exciting yaya

Afm i woke up this morning thinking would a mini ivf be better for me than a full cycle ive read mini ivf gets less eggs but better quality compared to full ivf you get more eggs less quality. Since im youngs and my amh is super low for my age im not doubting myself on what to do its such a challance and in starting to stress as its getting closer. What would you guys recommend i also emailed my ivf nurse to get drs pros and cos to both aaa this stressing never end infertility sucks
  • @Hoping4Success I have no advice to give you when it comes to mini IVF cuz I've never done it nor has it ever been brought to my attention by any Drs. Best of luck.

  • @Hoping4Success We went back and forth between mini ivf and full ivf..the biggest deciding factor for us was my AFC and money.  So my afc was never very high.  My dr said if we did full ivf with mega does of drugs he expected us to get 4-6 eggs.  With mini he expected 2-4.  We both agreed that it was worth it to do the mini and spend way less money (it ended up costing 2/3 less than full ivf) and we ended up with 3 eggs. At retrival we had 5 or 6 follicles but not all had eggs I think.  Anyway I had heard many times that for DOR mini is better as it produced fewer better quality eggs. I have no idea if that is true or not but I have a friend who does not have DOR and did and IVF study and had to take a specific amount of drugs.  She got a ton of eggs but none were graded very well and so far after putting 4 back in or maybe it's been 6 non have worked and her and her dr think the high does meds hurt the quality of her eggs.  She has 2 or 3 still frozen but is starting fresh on a new ivf cycle. She isn't doing mini but they are lowering her dosage of meds for sure.

If your afc is higher I would do the full ivf as you can get more eggs that can be used in the future if some don't take or you want siblings.  If your afc is low I would do mini (or if money is a big factor)
  • @Hoping4Success  sorry I don't have any input, that was not offered to me.

As of now my retrieval is set for Monday, but depending on my bloodwork could be pushed to Tuesday. It looks like I will have 6 mature follicles (although I'm hoping at least one more will catch up). This is so stressful... I'm just hoping for good news after my retrieval!
  • @capps42613 What a beautiful baby boy!! And such a cute nose. :) I am sorry to hear about your pain. That is no fun. But I hope the prenatal yoga is helping you.

@stars2016 Good luck with your retrieval!! Hoping for lots of eggs!

  • @wenikilina I have felt so unsure of what's going on with me so I don't really update haha. I keep getting pre-e symptoms but not enough or constant enough to get a diagnosis.

The mfm keeps warning me I might end up on bed rest and/or deliver early. I found out friday I have gestational diabetes. I am so lost and confused and scared. I am still sick all of the time too. It didn't end for me after the first tri! Lol

I  am so glad the twins are progressing! One day at a time!!

As far as everyone else, I read all the updates but can't manage to reply to each of you. But I am rooting for all of you!

Both my ob and mfm are out of town for a week and a half! Im just flying blindly until then lol So I'm supposed to just take my blood sugar 4x a day. Then Wed after next my mfm will go over a diet plan based on my #s. Hopefully I can keep it under control with diet, or else I'll have to do insulin.

  • How many of you ladies had bcp in your protocol?

  • @twomommiestobe so sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes issues. Does not sound like fun. Hang in there!

@Hoping4Success I think if your AFC is good, talking to your RE about mini-IVF is worth the conversation. After my failed cycle (CP), my doc told me that he thinks we could be successful with my eggs, but high dosage really did impact my egg quality. Yes, we got 9 eggs, but only two fertilized. If we did more cycles, we would go with mini-IVF and try to bank our eggs. RE said that if we had the money for 5-6 cycles, he is certain we would be successful. Alas, even at reduced mini-IVF prices, that is not an option for us. At the end of the day, your RE will give you the best advice. But even he/she doesn't have much data to go from until after your first cycle.

AFM, we had our WTF meeting with the RE earlier this week. I was talking with another friend who is doing IVF right now. She is a few years older than I am, and working with an RE in St. Louis that specializes in over 40 cases. I had considered talking to him, and noticed he also does microsurgical tubal reversals with a decent success rate, as does another doctor in Chapel Hill that I keep running across. I brought this up with my RE, given we only have funds for one more cycle. We can go to either of these docs for a tubal reversal for about 25% of the cost of a cycle, and essentially have 12 shots at it. (With reversals, if you are successful, you will most likely get pregnant within the first year. Otherwise, back to IVF.)

My RE knew of the surgeon in Chapel Hill and had good things to say about his reputation and success rates, and said I would be better off flying across the country than trying with any of the local surgeons in the Pacific Northwest.
Due to finances, our next IVF option is donor eggs (for optimal chances at taking home a baby), and our RE said there would be no impact on our success rate if we waited a year or two (or more) to do that. So a tubal reversal is what we are going to try next, and I'm going to put it in nature's hands for a year. I think is something I can handle, since most people facing IF issues try for at least a year before getting treatment. And because I (stupidly) had a tubal in my 20s, I never did go through that. So this will be my time.

@LSatturo126 I will keep checking in on you here next month, if that is ok with you. I am sending so many positive thoughts your way, and I honestly can't wait to hear your BFP news. You're going to be such a wonderful mother. (Same for checking in on @wenikilina, @twomommiestobe, @Hoping4Successand all of you.) But as for my own journey, I will probably stop sharing so much, as I am not sure how relevant it will be to others who find this thread, or helpful to other low AMH ladies here looking for support. But I have sincere gratitude for the support you all gave me last month, which was a very trying month for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
  • @Hoping4Success I just saw your mention from Aug 2, about Gonal-F vs Follistim. My understanding is they are roughly the same, and I only did Gonal-F because I went with a european pharmacy.
