My goal has been 6 months but I'll re evualate once I hit that. My friend said that whenever she hit a rough patch, she would always give it a week. If she was still miserable a week later than she would quit. Usually, the hurdle would disappear after a few days and she would continue breastfeeding. I like this approach.
My goal is a year but I can tell I'm starting to dry up!!! It's totally my fault because I don't pump and I've been totally relying on the bottle. Of course now I'm freaking out and pumping religiously. I need your 100%, fool proof ways of increasing supply!!
I made it to 13 months with my son. With my twin girls, my goal is to hit a year. When I'm at work they get the oldest frozen milk, and I freeze what I pump. Five weeks ago I only had about 170 ounces in my freezer. Now I have 400, and they've eaten probably around 200 ounces already. So thankfully I'm able to pump a lot to keep building on my stash. I pray it continues.
One of our doctors who is always up on the latest research says the newest studies he found say the benefits aren't much past 10 months: A year ago the articles we had up on our floor (OB) were benefits for 6 months.
I'll be happy if he receives some breastmilk up to 6-8 months.. I'm a horrible pumper, I have nothing stashed, so... Yea. Should be interesting when I go back to work. I did however start supplementing for that reason and he's been fine, acts like he doesn't know the difference. My guy likes to EAT.. I pump when needed if it's gone too long in between, I just hate it
