Jaxon vs. Jackson !

(sorry can't find the baby name thread)

I'm torn between the two..,

I have less than 7 weeks to make such a permanent decision, I'm super obsessed with Jaxon but everyone around me hates the spelling. Is it that bad?

Middle name Alexander is set in stone, but I really need help deciding the first name..

Suggestions please.

  • I'm not a big fan of this for a first name, but if given a choice between the two, I would vote Jackson.

  • Hate Jaxon, go with jackson
  • Love Jackson! Actually my first choice if we have a boy but hubby isn't on board.
  • It really is that bad...
  • Another vote for Jackson. I can't picture a grown man named Jaxon. I just can't.

  • I am the oddball, I love Jaxon and would call him Jax.

Jackson is good to, and will be shortened to Jack.
  • Jackson is nice :)
    Jaxon will be dated
  • Please spell it correctly and use Jackson. You can even still use the nickname Jax (spelled that way) if you want. No adult ,or child for that matter, should have to be putting a misspelled name on formal paperwork.

Jaxson is a mispelled trendy version of Jackson. Jackson is timeless.

This. Jaxon is a total misspelling.
I'm Not a fan of the name spelled be right way - it's too trendy. But if you're going to name him that spell it right.
  • I concur with all of the traditional spelling votes.
  • Thanks Ladies !!
  • Jaxon for sure.
  • Jackson. Jaxon Alexander has too many x's IMO.
  • Jackson. No ifs ands or buts.

  • I'm beyond tired of the name Jackson at this point. I loved it when the trend was first starting, but now I swear that is every other little boys name these days. But, that's just my personal preference.

I would also vote for Jackson versus Jaxon. But at least Jaxson wasn't a spelling option, because that one just drives me up a wall.
  • Jackson for the win! Jaxon is awful.

I like this idea. I don't really think of Jaxon as being spelled incorrectly (it's a name--there are Sarahs and Saras and the Saras names aren't
wrong even if I don't like it) BUT I agree that traditional spellings are probably better long term.  But if you really like having the "x" Jax is a nice nickname compromise. When he's older he can decide if he wants to go by his nickname or the more traditional name.

    Edit: quote fail
  • Jaxon! I'm naming my baby Jaxon Walker. Jaxon is an English name meaning "God has been gracious; has shown favor"
  • We are naming our baby boy Jackson Thomas and maybe we'll call him Jax for a nickname.
  • Jackson!! Classic never goes out of style.

Our little one will be named Jack :)
  • Jackson is classic! Plus it reminds me of one of my favorite movies, "Steel Magnolias". And I'm pretty sure his name in the movie was spelled "correctly."
  • I'm having a boy and his name will be Jaxon Taylor. I love Jax but I don't like Jack which is obviously why I went with Jaxon. It's different and I like it!

It's not at all "different" anymore, sadly. It's been in the top 100 for 5 years. Also, just found out Justin Beiber has a brother named Jaxson. That says enough for me!
  • In New Zealand Jaxon is very popular with the nick name jax totally personal preference I love the name but I think if it were my son I would spell it Jackson
