3rd Trimester

small areolas during 3rd trimester

I'm 28 weeks/ 7 months pregnant with my first baby. I noticed that breasts have gotten slightly bigger (I'm naturally a small bust) but my areolas are still small (pre-pregnancy size) and haven't increased in size. The only breast changes I've seen are in size (34 to 34C) and change in color in the areolas. My sister is 6 months pregnant also with her first child, but her areolas look like normal pregnancy areolas. Has anyone gone through this? Does it get bigger towards the end of the 3rd trimester? I'm concerned because I want to breastfeed my child.

Not every woman has the same pregnancy symptoms or happenings. I never got the linea nigra for instance. Don't worry about it - areola size has NOTHING to do with ability to BF.
  • There is no such thing as a "normal" areola, pregnant or otherwise.  Some are naturally darker and/or larger, even before pregnancy.  Every body is different, and your body isn't going to handle pregnancy exactly like the next person's.  Don't worry about what your body looks like, especially in comparison to somebody else's.
