Your fertile window is 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation, though that 5th day is pretty sketchy.

You are probably going to get some criticism for this type of question. You could easily find the answer to this question by doing a quick search. Sperm can live up to 5 days depending on the "conditions", some sites I've read say longer (7 days) and some say less (3 days). Do a quick search to find the more concise answer.
Come on ya'll. I don't like these questions any more than the rest of us but maybe she really doesnt fully understand the idea of fertile days vs ovulation? Fertile days are literally the days before you ovulate and accounts for the average 3-5 days that sperm can live. If you BD Before the fertile time then chances are you will not get pregnant unless you ovulated earlier than expected. My advice is to temp and once you see the ovulation count back 5 days. If you BDed in that time then there is a chance.

If she doesn't understand the process of getting pregnant while TTC... There's a BIG issue.

Hey, we all started somewhere, right? Haha
Very true, I give you that, but a good start is reading up on the process and gaining knowledge. This is like, step one of TTC.

Yes and no. I get what you're saying but we are not your (general you) personal Google. As adults, we are responsible for our own knowledge. I think it's lazy and annoying to come in here asking a question that could have easily been answered by a 3 second Google search. Most of the regulars use this for what it is, a community of women going through something similar, not just as a way to get our questions answered because we don't feel like trying to figure them out.
I feel like if you are serious about TTC, you would've spent the last 4 days (you joined on 9/3/15), lurking, reading the TOU and the guidelines. Instead you have ignored Dr. Google, did not look into TCOYF and clearly did not lurk into the previous posts.
Please do you research and take this advice.
eta: also, if you are not temping, then you have absolutely no idea when your FW is. Which I'm assuming you aren't since you haven't lurked and this is your first question.

FWIW OP, I had no idea what a FW was when I joined (or even started TTC). I'm also lazy, so I've not read very much & have not educated myself as much as I should have. That said, I know enough not to ask this board if I'm pregnant (I'm not). Believe me, there's a lot of wisdom on this board but lurk and learn the board culture before posting something like that. Trust me, you don't want someone like me giving you advice b/c I don't know shit.
Also in addition to the info provided by all the pp's, maybe you should watch The Great Sperm Race documentary on YouTube. It will give you all the info and more than you'll ever need to know about sperm.

It might. How do you know when your fertile days start?
Your body doesn't read a calendar-- so you could be completely missing your window if you are just guessing with a calendar.
