Jumper play sets

my little man is 6 months old and has been trying to stand up a lot more lately. We bought a jumper play set for him but I've been kind of weary putting him in it because he is still on the smaller side. Has anyone started using jumpers or walkers with their little ones? How have they done with them?

Re: Jumper play sets

  • DS loves his walker. I took the wheels off so I don't have to worry about the stairs. He likes to look around and make faces at his brothers.

  • My LO is on the larger side but I've been using a jumper set with her since about 4 months, around the same time she started sitting on her own. As long as your LO can reach the ground in it, it should be fine. And, of course, good head and neck control and almost sitting, but if your LO is already trying to stand I would assume he's already meeting that criteria. She really loves it and I love that I can put her in it to be entertained for a bit while I fold laundry or do some other tasks at home.
  • I'm gonna try it out. It would be really nice to have a few moments to get some stuff done. Lately it's been when he's asleep that I can even get the dishes done. When I'm not in his sight he's been freaking out lately. So hopefully this will give him enough height to see me so I can get some stuff done and take a nap when he does.
  • Yes!! Put him in it! My son loves his! He is on the smaller side too... He has a super tiny butt but he can touch the bottom with his feet and LOVES it. I call him a "big boy" and he cracks up and smiles.
  • I agree with pp's - if he has good head and neck control, give it a try! I was hesitant to put my little guy (who is just shy of 15 lbs now) in one at first but he loooves it! We were gifted a jolly jumper which he likes for about ten minutes max but he loves his exersaucer the best. We have the Evenflo triple fun one that converts as he grows (https://www.evenflo.com/Products/ExerSaucer/Saucers/Life_in_the_Amazon/) and keep it on its legs so it is stable at the moment.

Give it a go and be sure to have your camera handy for his reactions!!
  • The jumper is the best! My 5 month old plays in his for almost 30 minutes and then takes the best nap. Plus watching his little feet is hilarious.
  • My LO loves hers! We have a doorway jumper and the standing activity centers I started putting her in them around 4 months I think. I put a little blanket or towel around her belly for padding since she was a little too small for it, but now at 6 months she fits just fine and loves it.

Sidenote, my 4 year old always had the most giant poops after a particularly rowdy jump session in the doorway jumper ;) Just in case anyone's sweet baby needs a little help in that area... give it a try!

  • @honkytonk_kid yes!! I agree with the pooping after bouncing! It's so funny! He will bounce for a while then there will be a nice big poop ready for me!
  • I'm thinking of getting a jumper for my very active 6 month old. He crawls all over the place, tries to pull up on us, and jumps in our laps when we hold him. What kinds of jumpers do you all use?
  • I actually went and got the baby Einstein neighborhood friends activity jumper from Walmart and after putting him in it he loves it. He crawls towards it now when he wants to play. I was afraid to put him in it at first because he's so small but he does great.
  • That's similar to the one I have. Except I got mine at a garage sale for $10, so it doesn't really light up or make noise. But my daughter loves it!
