Name advice

I'm having a boy. Me and my husband love the name Jax and I also want to name him after my father, Russell... so Jax Russell. Everyone says it sounds like the dog 'jack russell'. So embarrassing! but hubs isn't budging on Jax. Is it horrible or am I over thinking this? I mean those are pretty good dogs. Haha joke!

I definitely see that being a life long joke for anyone who knows his middle name.

Jack is eye roll worthy at this point anyhow. Seriously Jackson/jaxon/jaxxson/jax whatever was overdone a couple years ago. Russell is fantastic but paired with Jax its one of those names people mention on OMG look at this name threads. Why not Russell Jackson? Russell is far more uncommon.

Jax is pretty bad in and of itself. Adding Russell just makes it sound comical.

Jax screams trying to hard. And it's a nick name.

Russell Jackson is a far better choice.

Jude Russell is infinitely better than Jax Russell.  Jax just screams uneducated to me and is so overdone, same with Jack/Jackson.

If your husband really won't budge and accept Jude, maybe Dax Russell? Dax sounds like Jax, isn't as overdone, and doesn't make the kid sound like a dog breed. I don't love it but it's better than Jax, for several reasons.

Here's the name meaning for Jax and Russell actually means "fox" or "red haired". I believe name meaning is just as important as actual name.

I get the dog joke, but who cares. I am going to name my son Benson, and people keep saying they are going to think of an 80s show where Benson was a butler. If you like it don't worry what people say. Also you won't be calling him Jax Russell you will call him Jax. People won't know his middle name unless you tell them. Go with your heart....people name their kids horrible things, and Jax Russell is not one of them.

Ok ok. I will agree. I also like Jude. Dreamed of naming my son Jude since forever but my husband and nobody in his family like it. Jude Russell. So much better I think. Maybe if I just start calling him Jude in the womb my husband will slowly get use to it....

I mean, I should hope she at least cares about what her son may have to deal with when he gets older. For me, I think naming a child not only includes what DH and I like but also how that name will affect my child. If it's going to cause him/her to constantly have to correct people's spelling, pronunciation, be the butt of jokes, or hinder his/her ability to get a job, I'm going to think twice about it.
