2nd Trimester

Baby is not kicking for almost a week...!?

Hi,

I'm 21 week pregnant with my 1st and he stopped moving for almost a week by now...I'm freaking out a little bit, I'm sure it's my hormones, but do you think it's ok? Or I better call the doctor?

  • If you are uncomfortable call.  In general especially with FTM's consistent kicks and kick counts start at 28 weeks but if you feel something is off call.

Its too early to expect regular movement, dear. Baby is probably just positioned in a way where your internal organs are taking the kicks and you can't feel them as well.

  • If ever you are concerned about yourself or your baby I would suggest a call to your OB. They are familiar with you and your pregnancy and could give you better advice.
  • I talked to my doc about this because I went about 10 days without feeling anything. She said that's perfectly normal at this stage. but you should always call and ask if you have concerns.
  • I would definitely call. Once you start feeling consistent kicks, you shouldn't be going for an entire week feeling nothing.

  • Trust your body. My baby girl would have moments when she wouldn't move because her positioning just made it so I couldn't feel it. But trust your gut. I did and I'm thankful I did because I got the most amazing 2 hours and 32 minutes of my life with my baby girl. She was 21 weeks and didn't make it. But my boyfriend and I am thankful for every single second we had with her. Not trying to scare you and every baby is different but if your baby is acting different or your gut says something, be safe. Calling your doctor isn't a bad thing, that's what they're there for.
  • Definitely ring & get checked, it's probably nothing but better to be safe than sorry

You prob didn't mean it this way but there's nothing more condescending then being called "dear" imo.

She meant it in a comforting way from a experienced mother to a scared ftm, @PrimRoseMama is not a bitchy poster.

Its really amazing how even when you TRY to be nice you can't win and someone has to give you crap. I wasn't trying to be condescending, and I was attempting to put a nice thing in there so I wouldn't be accused to being a meanie-head. I should just do what I always do because even when I try to be nice someone has to say something.

  • I'm 28 weeks now but around this time my baby girl would go 2-4 days without almost any movement. I got scared and called in, they told me as long as I feel something even the tiniest something very now and then-it's ok. They advised the whole drink something cold and sweet and lay on your left side. I was told to go in if I felt nothing for over 48 hours despite the sweet cold thing. Hope things are ok for you.
