Parenting fails

Re: Parenting fails

  • Day 4 of antibiotics for LO & I just realized I've been giving her .1 ML instead of 1! I swear I'm not an idiot but I've been so sick too I just misread the syringe. At least DH has given her a few doses so she's gotten some correct doses. So I give her the correct doae tonight & nurse her & she immediately throws it all up. I can't win here.

  • LO rolled off the bed...major fail. But he just cried a little bit and then was fine after and the next day was perfectly happy as if nothing had happened. I seriously thought he might die in that instant I saw him roll off the bed. So scary.
I should have slept with him on the wall side but I'd fallen asleep with him on the outer side while breastfeeding on that side in the middle of the night and my husband wasn't sleeping with us that night so LO woke up and promptly rolled right over the edge:(
We finally bought a floor futon which he's asleep on now and I guess I won't be cosleeping with him on the bed anymore. It makes me sad since I loved sleeping with him. I'd already been worried our cosleeping situation wasn't safe enough anymore...he seems unhurt and unfazed by the incident but I feel terrible! Gah if only we'd ordered that futon earlier. We'd talked about it and I think ordered it before the incident but it only arrived today. I'm not such a fan of getting him to sleep in a crib since we like breastfeeding to sleep. With the futon on the floor I can feed him to sleep and then slip away to the bed leaving him there. Our bed isn't really big enough for the 3 of us and DH likes sleeping in the bed with me. So this way seems like it will probably work for us.
  • This happened to me, too, this week. I am also putting a bed on the floor now and am glad LO wasn't hurt.
  • ah this is such a big fear of mine! I have nightmares of him rolling off onto our wood floors or hitting our bedside table  :/ we went on vacation last year and a small child at the resort was in a cast from fingers to shoulder from rolling out of the bed.

My guy went off this week too, our king bed was on the floor with no box spring but he crawled off head first (diaper change so not sleeping) and landed on his face on the hardwood. Totally sporting a slight black under eye :( I have quilts around the floor bed now

    Edit for giph issue
  • @virginiaunicorn11 We did build a cheap pine frame for under the matress to prevent mold and mildew.
  • @virginiaunicorn11 , thanks for your comment. How is your bed on the floor working out? My LO doesn't seem to mind and crawls happily all over it when awake. He sleeps just as readily on it as the bed. I am not getting as good quality sleep though since I have to get out of bed and go down to the floor to BF him in the night, and sometimes I fall asleep on the floor futon but wake up because it's uncomfortable for me. It's not quite wide enough for me and LO to sleep comfortably and it's harder than our bed. I also wonder if he is waking up more at night, but it is hard to tell.

So actually, we moved over the weekend and our new set up is very different. I do not have a bed in LO's room now, so I have to rock him in a hard rocking chair. Safer for him, but I'm exhausted.

DH and I sleep on a box spring and mattress, so it's not super low, but much lower than the bed that LO fell from. I only put him in bed between us now.

This is temporary housing for us, so I have an air mattress that I plan to put on the floor in LO's room. But your point about it not being comfortable and hard to get on/off the floor is a good point, so maybe I just need to sleep train!! @heidiiwa

I hope you adjust to your set up soon! This is the hard stuff, I find - sleep solutions.
  • Very hard! @virginiaunicorn11 . I put up with a week of poor sleep, getting up every 2 hours it felt like and not feeling rested in the morning, which sucked since it's almost the end of the quarter and I need to be on my game for school. I even considered sleep training. But in the end I went back to sleeping with him in bed, although I'm very careful now to only sleep with him between DH and myself and have DH there with him if I have to leave the bed. So much better sleep. I love sleeping next to him and he sleeps better that way too.

If I need to feed LO on the side that's to the outside of the bed, I tuck my comforter up under him and my arm around him so he can't roll.
