What are some things you haven't given up even though you are pregnant? For me it is cold cut sandwiches. I still eat maybe one every few days. I can't give up my ham! I do still get coffee, albeit decaf these days. What about you?
I gave up caffeine cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant (5w; came down with pneumonia and found out then). I've been having sips of DH's diet soda when out at a restaurant and of his sugar-free energy drinks for the past month or so and am now 23w5d. I don't eat meat (only seafood) and not even they really ever sounds good so the whole sushi/hot dog/deli meat "ban" never applied to me.
I still drink one cup of black coffee each morning - I was an absolute caffeine fiend before I was pregnant, and it was hard enough just to cut down to one cup! Other than that, I've been pretty good - other than the occasional hot dog. I do still eat deli meat, but I heat it up beforehand.
I drink caffeinated coffee every day. I keep it under 200 mg of caffeine but it is delicious!
This, I have my 1 cup in the morning and I keep it at 8 ounces. I do occasionally get a medium iced coffee from Dunkin, but I checked the nutrition information and have gotten from several sites, that the caffeine amount is less than 200 mg. I've also eaten blue cheese maybe 7-8 times during this pregnancy and have had a cold cut sandwich twice.
I eat burgers medium and steak medium rare, eggs with runny yolks, deli meat, hotdogs, any cheese as long as it is pasteurized, caffeine once in a while, and have had a few sips of wine and champagne here and there.
I gave up coffee in October, as I was highly addicted all my life (over 8 cups a day) and wanted to start trying to get pregnant. I didn't want to be pregnant while suffering from coffee withdrawals so I started early. I still do have caffeine though. I drink one cup of tea every day in the afternoon and the occasional iced tea, but I have been trying to switch out iced tea for apple juice and that has worked! I do not eat raw fish anymore even though I was a weekly purchaser of sushi prior to pregnancy, I now have no desire to eat it. Occasionally I have vegetarian rolls. I do still like the every-now-and-then runny egg yolk on my eggs Benny!
The only things I have given up completely are liquor, high-mercury fish, raw oysters and we turned the temp down on the hot tub.
Just use your judgement on where you're eating to minimize the risks. I'm not eating gas station subs or buffet sushi, but have no concerns about eating fresh sliced deli meat or low mercury raw fish.
I still eat sushi (I've been going to the same sushi place for 23 years and have never gotten sick. I'm not going to get sick now), drink coffee, have the occasional glass of wine or half a beer, and have eaten soft cheeses. I have food aversions to all meat, fish (unless raw and wrapped in rice), eggs, and cheese so that's really not an issue for me.
The only thing I've given up is alcohol. I still eat all the things whenever I want (you can have my rare/med-rare steak when you pry it from my cold, dead hands) and I still drink all the caffeine. I never liked sushi to begin with.
Most of the things to avoid during pregnancy never applied to me anyways. My biggest one was caffeine. Cut out coffee completely for almost 5 months and just this week had my first decaf latte (o.m.g! Life just changed)
Oh and I still eat cold cut sammichs, but I am trying to be careful..
I tried to give up coffee the first few weeks but had terrible headaches. I would drink at least 24 Oz of Wawa coffee a day. Now I'll get a dunkin donuts medium iced coffee or a 16 Oz hot coffee from wawa. My doctor said 2 cups a day or under 200 mg is fine. I'll have iced tea or a soda every once in a while but only if I haven't had coffee that day.
I do eat chicken Ceasar wraps about once a week or so but I checked with the place I get them and it is Ken's dressing like your get in the grocery store, so it's fine (homemade Ceasar dressing is made with raw egg)
I have cut out alcohol, lunch meat and sushi bUT that's really it

This. I'm just being sensible. The chemicals in heavily processed cheese whizz are going to do more harm to my baby than a bit of unpasteurized goats cheese from a reputable source.
There is nothing i consumed before that i have given up, I just use my brain about it. So instead of a glass of wine a day, i might have one every two weeks. Instead of eating goat cheese on every salad i consume, i have it on the occasional salad. I have eaten fish sushi twice maybe and two corndogs recently. I drink green tea as before.
I don't do drugs or eat fast food like McDonald's so those things i didn't have to give up because i didn't consume them before. But while i might have had the occasional social smoke at a bar or something, I do not do ever now. Smoking is absolute poison with zero benefits. So this is the only thing that i might have had as a treat once or twice a year before - that i wouldn't dream of consuming now.
My doctor says my consumption is very sensible and that most rules are in place for people who can't control their portions. I do my best to control mine and i find that my diet, while maybe a bit sparse still, is very healthy.
My Frappuccinos, Dr. Pepper, and lunch meats. And at times, tuna, hotdogs, and grilled cheese (Velveeta cheese...Oh my gosh! ) I have issues with having Dr. Pepper and my Frapps in moderation, though. But the little one is dping great, and looks and sounds healthy. And no complaints from my doctor about having all of that. None so far, that is. )
I still do everything I did before I was pregnant except drink alcohol and take Excedrin. Coffee, hot dogs, cold cuts, soda, raw eggs... I'm just not worried about any of it.
Ah yes there is one thing - ibuprofen. I was on naproxin for joint pain and now i can't take anything. That kind of sucks. But my body has been surprisingly cooperative.

THIS!!!! I am right there with you!! my MR steak will go nowhere but to my stomach!!! I could live off steak...i'll never give it up! I don't drink pop just a tea every now and then but sushi...oh man...I only eat it maybe once a month anyways so it's not that bad!
Hmmm...sushi, tuna, coffee (I stick to the limit), half a glass of wine or beer every now and then....
Made the best bolognese sauce tonight and dropped soft goat cheese over it, so lots of soft cheeses here...Brie, Camembert, et. All.
Smoked salmon and deli meats. I do stay away from prepared salads and cull it at buffets lol.
I haven't given up exercising, I still work out five days days a week focusing on legs and booty. My doctor said I can still do anything I did (exercise) before I got pregnant except for an stuff and high intensity stuff. I still do squats, lunges, and other work outs to target those areas because I want to continue to tone those muscles and keep fit while putting on weight. I don't take protein powder or any supplements for working out but I still love the feeling of keeping active I have asked my doctor about a few pregnancy work outs I have seen on YouTube and webpages which he gave me the all clear for.
honestly apart from alcohol there isn't much I've given up. I've definitely made an effort to eat the unhealthy things less than i did before, & add a little more fruits & veggies into the diet. I've also traded my medium rare steaks for medium well, dont eat any raw egg/meat, & try to stay away from any deli products. i did give up coffee, pop, & caffinated teas. honestly i like the dietary changes tho.. i feel a little more energized & i went from 133 to a stable 129.

And sushi but that's only because I haven't lived around here long enough to know which places to trust.
