No to Macks. It sounds just like Max, so why not spell it as such. Maxwell with the nn Max is nice.

Hahahaha I read it to myself and still didn't get that it's just "Max." I thought it was an actual name that I had just never heard of. I guess it's time for me to go to bed.

Macks makes me think of the teenage slang word for making out. "They were macking on each other all night"

I know a Mack but his full name is Mackenzie.

I have a Mc last name and often go by Ms. Mack, so that could be odd if your child marries and takes the name of a Mc. Why Macks and not just Mack?

Mack is worse than Macks. Macks looks like you wanted to spell it differently, but Mack is like the truck. Both aren't great in my opinion.

I think you should go with Maxwell NN Max. Or even just Max as full name. Assuming your baby is a boy...
