Where are you?

So, I am waiting out the final days of the dreaded 2ww and trying not to obsess but failing miserably. I see everyone on here and wonder where we are all from...help me think of something else...

1. Where are you? I am in CA.

2. What do you do? I'm a teacher so I have all summer to obsess about making this baby thing happen :-)

3. Favorite summer time activity besides TTC (we all know how much we love that...haha!): I love to sail and I love to read. I am a LA teacher so this time of year I get to read anything I want. Right now I am shamefully reading Down the Rabbit Hole.

4. Where are you in your treatment? (I have been trying to keep up with everyone on the different posts, but there's a lot of us and I want to be excited for all at the right time, which I guess is all the time, really.) For me - I am on IUI #5 with one more to go (if this one doesn't work out). I am waiting very impatiently. I already took a test and it was bfn but I am keeping the faith alive!

Thanks guys! Fingers crossed for all, of course!!

    4.  In the 2ww of my first IUI cycle...blood test on monday at 9dpiui was negative but was taken on a whim and told to come back monday for a true test..feel like AF is coming any min but so far hasn't shown. Debating what to do next assuming this month doesn't work...keep with IUI or move on to mini-ivf
  • Thanks guys! Now I can imagine where you are when I am posting on your thread.

@beckihall 33 eggs is A LOT! That has to make you feel good!

@rachlee2010 I knew we were both waiting for AF, but I didn't know you were also a teacher. What's your subject?

@Cbowden12 Good luck keeping busy (and of course with a bfp too)! I am keeping busy right now by watching Food Network and pinning recipes on Pinterest. I am practicing my cooking this summer...have only had a few take-out back up plan nights so far. What kind of artwork do you do?

@Drove2u I used to be a tech writer at a computer company so I did editing too. I feel like editing math books would take a lot of concentration. Do you work directly with math teachers?

    Thanks guys for answering!
  • I don't actually edit. The math textbooks are all phd and grad level. I help professors with the project management when they write their books.
  • I bet you meet a lot of interesting, intelligent people doing that job!
  • @Drove2u just outside Philadelphia

    @AMT&THC I teach 7th and 8th grade science..waht about you?
p.s. I feel so crampy right now and really feel like AF is on her way..I hate this..I would rather her just come so I can get over the disappointment than just waiting
  • Yes! With no social skills. Lol. So it gets a bit awkward at times. But I do get to travel the world. Going to Germany in September. That will have to stop once I'm super pregnant. If I ever get there. Sigh.
  • @AMT&THC I am excited they got so many, but it means I'm high risk for ohss, so I'm freaking out. I'm also in a lot of pain, and I'm not sure if it's because of how many eggs I had, my endometriosis, or ohss. I keep reminding myself that the outcome will be worth it!
  • @rachlee2010 Boy, do I feel you right now. I hate it today. If AF is coming, I want it to start now. I feel ready to face the pain if I must. I just don't want to wait any more. At least it feels like I am back in control when I make my next doctor's appointment for my next round. I will be sad and I will cry but then I can start the planning again.
I have 10th and 11th grade English. They ask me every year if I have kids and then why I don't have kids. Then they usually tell me (depending on whether they love me or hate me that day...teenagers! humph!) that I'd make a great mom. When they ask "why not?" I always answer I don't know and change the subject ASAP. Does this happen to you?

@Drove2u I can imagine that math professors could be a tad dull. haha! Traveling is certainly a perk but I know what you mean about having to stop if this all works out. Isn't that a weird thing? Everyone you talk to probably tells you how lucky you are to be able to travel when all you really want is to stop and have a family. DH and I do a lot of traveling too because he works for a sailboat company and it has been wonderful, but I'd trade it in for for a BFP any day.
  • @beckihall It will be worth it. I am sorry about the pain and I hope you are able to get as comfortable as possible.
  • @Drove2u where in PA are you?

@AMT&THC yet to everything..yes I just want to wait to be over and get started on the next round, to have that control back.  And yes my students ask about kids all the time. I actually have a 2.5 year old son (who we had no issues getting/staying pregnant with but #2 is sure giving us a run for our money.  I get asked all the time if I want more kids and I just say yes, hopefully one day we will have more.  Most drop it at that.  And before I had my son, even before I was married they would ask about why I didn't have kids yet.  I started teaching at 22 and I was single and I was asked if I had kids yet and was shocked at the question.  But I teach in the city so I had to learn quickly that the kids home lives were very different than what I was used to.
  • @rachlee2010 I worked in a very small farming community when I first started teaching and it was quite an adjustment. They would ask about me having children but at that point it was the farthest thing from my mind. I just figured they thought I was older than I actually was. Now that I am almost 37, I think they just think I am some sort of weirdo for never having children. It's not just the students either, I think some adults have trouble hiding their surprise and/or concern. My husband and I have been married 10 years in September and when people figure that out, they sometimes just flat out ask for an explanation. I gotta laugh at those times! What else can you do?

@AMT&THC I draw pet portraits! i love Pinterest and honestly look there for all of my dinner recipes, I've never been much of a cook, but I can read directions on recipes great! Lol.
Ttc since March 2012 Me: 24 Dh: 25 Mother of many fur/feathered-babies! 3 dogs (Phoenix,Lacey,Piper), 4 cats (Grace,Delilah,Elvira,Birdie), 7 ducks, and 4 hens! • Omg yes exactly!! I would trade in a bfp for travel any day now. The travel actually made me procrastinate on the kids thing for a while. We've been married 6 years and have been trying for 14 months.
  • @rachlee2010 bucks county. :-)
  • @Cbowden12 Do your customers send you a picture of their pet and then you paint it? Do you ever make their pet cuter than it actually is? I have an adorable (to me) cocker spaniel. She has a cherry eye that we have had the vet fix but it popped back out again because she is a rough player. Do you ever have anyone ask you to, for example, leave out the cherry eye?
I have traditionally been a bad cook. So, I have made a little goal to improve. I always think I know better than the recipe and I believe that is from which my issues arrive.

@Drove2u DH and I did the same thing - We procrastinated on the baby train because we loved our life and a big part of that was the traveling. When we found out we had issues TTC we still waited around because we thought it would happen if it was meant to happen AND we were still having fun. I think once I finally get that BFP I won't feel so bad about that, but sometimes it bothers me. We've been married for 10 years and trying for 4. There's times when my leave-it-up-to-fate attitude is a real benefit and other times, like this, when it turns in to a detriment. But, I guess when you think about it, it is still all out of my hands anyway, right?

    3. My favorite summer activity is taking quick trips to the beach.
    4. I just received my BFN recently on my last round of Clomid. This cycle was a rollercoaster of emotions for me and I'm not the biggest fan of Estradiol (hello, mood swings!), so I decided to take a month off from the hormones before moving on to injectables. I'm hoping for my natural miracle this month!

  • Hi @KidShrink and @riveridgional!

Good luck starting your IUI cycle @KidShrink...I think I have seen you post about being a child psychologist before. What age children do you counsel and do you have any children already or are you trying for your first?

@riveridgional You should start your clothing line. That is so exciting. I have a friend who was an attorney and ended up going to culinary school and opening a restaurant after 3 years of practicing law. She has never been happier.
I have mood swings too on the Estridol...I haven't had to take that for the last 2 cycles. My first 3 cycles were Clomid, but now that I am doing injections (Menopur) I haven't take it. I think I was more emo on the Clomid and my body didn't respond as well. I hope you have a successful month off! That will make a wonderful story if it happens. I am rooting for you!

  • Good luck @welovehawaii! Somehow I had you pegged for a Cali gal. It must be the Hawaii name and proximity to CA that lead me to that ludicrous assumption. You're making me want to take a trip to the beach...it is so darn busy in the summer though so parking is miserable. But, it may be worth it to stop worrying. I can curse to myself about the out of town drivers ;)
  • @AMT&THC : trying for my first so clients stop asking me if I have kids (you know, when I give them advice on how to manage their kids' behaviours). I see kids age 2-18, but most of them are within the 5-10 age group. Autism, Learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety (lots of anxious kids). I also work with kids who have health problems (Cancer, chronic pain, feeding problems/picky eaters), but less so now that I'm not in a hospital setting. In the summer, I'm crazy busy as all parents want assessments done for September. And then busy during the school year because kids are anxious.
  • @AMT&THC hahaha!! I wish I lived in California! You should definitely take a trip to the beach and get your mind off of things! FX for a BFP for all!! This two week wait is the worst!!! I'm thinking of testing tomorrow 6dp5dt... So nervous!

  • @rachlee2010 I'm not feeling so hot anymore. The cramps have set in and I have that sinking feeling. Oh no.

@KidShrink I bet you help so many children. That must be a very gratifying job. I can see where you may feel especially inclined to have children of your own. I feel that way even as a teacher. I mean, I work with kids all day, you'd think I'd have some of my own!

@welovehawaii GOOD LUCK ON TESTING!!! I will be so happy for you if it happens!!! I think you're right...at this point, I am not feeling very optimistic about my prospects for this month so some sunshine should help. FX for you!
  • @AMT&THC, I draw with Graphite, charcoal, or pastel pencil. And yes I've had many requests about altering something. Cocker spaniels are pretty cute,, they're like perpetual puppies. • @AMT&THC : I love my job! It's really not as sad and tough as some people imagine it to be (minus the part where I was working with kiddos with cancer who died...couldn't handle it, cried like a baby). And kudos to you on being a teacher. I can handle kids one at a time...I considered being a teacher and was too afraid of being responsible for 30 kids at a time! I also have a 5 years old perpetual puppy! Cockers are the best!
@Cbowden12 : husbands that cook are also the best (mine is away on business, so I'm eating pre-made stuff from the supermarket tonight...)

  • @KidShrink You have a cocker too! I love her so much! She's being my shoulder to cry on right now while waiting for DH to get home. It looks like AF is here, sadly. Well, one more round of IUI to go and then it's on to IVF. I'll miss the insurance coverage. Your job sounds so interesting to me. I considered being a psychologist at one point too. Then I looked at the amount of hours it takes to become one! That is commitment!

@Cbowden12 My DH swears he has no idea how to cook and after a few tries, I believe him! Someone had to learn or we'd starve! I just finished making dinner right now - Spaghetti squash with meat sauce :)
  • Hi @paisleybrown, I love being on the water too. It's so calming. We are going out sailing for my birthday on Saturday! I can't wait.

Good luck with your cycle and the first trigger shot. I was scared the first time, but it has gotten easier. It isn't as bad as it looks! I just hate the sight of the needle.
  • @amt&thc, I was so relieved that the trigger shot was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Hardly even a mosquito bite. I don't know why I was so nervous.
  • Hi everyone!
Great to hear more about each of you.... :)

1.)I currently live in Houston, Tx but my heart is in the Northeast (Connecticut) where I grew up. I came here 6 years ago for my husband's job. I miss the seasons in Connecticut....especially the fall. Here it's just hot, hot, hot! :)

    4) I'm in the 2ww currently. I did a round of injectables-Bravelle and two days of the iui. Waiting as patiently as possible and hoping for the best.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to be able to share and connect with you all. :)

Praying it works!! Doctor wants IVF next, and i'm so scared. Upon doing more research and talking to some people, I don't know if I'm strong enough to handle the needles. I'm beyond petrified! Really praying round 3 IUI works!

I give you ladies who undergoing IVF now a lot of credit! You are superwomen in my eyes!

  • @AdorkablePixie I get asked this question often by clients and to be honest my answer is ALL, they all have their own positive traits that differ from the next, it depends on what your looking to do with dog. But I will say that corgis tend to impress me the most if I were to get another personal dog. I love my job, I have recently went out on my own and started a small dog training buisiness in hopes of working at home when I do have a baby. So far so good except for the baby part haha. Good luck on your iui this month!

    4. Where are you in your treatment? DH and I have been married since 2009 and TTC since Jan 2014.  I have APS (blood clotting disorder) and have been on blood thinners since 2007.  We are also dealing with MFI (motility and morphology).   Starting our first IVF round in ~2 weeks!   I'm very excited and nervous at the same time... am trying to mentally prepare myself for a BFN since it's our first try and the odds just seem so low!  I'm also at high risk for miscarriage were we to get a BFP.  So there's that.   This is my first post and I'm excited to have a place to meet and talk to people going through the same thing!
