Feel better sick mommies!!
September Siggy Challenge : Favorite Childhood Movies ( Sorry I have two)
Ugh my seasonal allergies are the worst right now. I wake up with red, itchy eyes and a stuffy nose. So miserable and all the allergy meds in the world aren't helping. I feel like I did when I had to go off my meds for a few days before my allergy skin test... Seriously every day I'm like
March 2016 Moms: January Siggy Challenge "Pregnancy Problems"
Holy crap its cold this morning! 20 degrees!!! I had to kick the furnace on and hit the car starter too. Brrrr....!
It's cold here, too I didn't want to get out of my warm bed where DD and I were snuggling, but I had to pee (of course) and woke her up in the process. So now we are cuddled on the couch under a blanket, watching Toy Story and eating breakfast.
Well...it took forever, but I finally got the crib assembled in the nursery. DH is NOT handy...lol...so if we wanted this crib assembled correctly AND safely I had to do it. I don't mind though. I love doing stuff like this.
Welp baby has found my cervix and has been promptly tap dancing all morning. Such a weird feeling. I just know the bladder trampoline feature is next in the mommy amusement park.
I've decided I might write a book about my 15-month old's antics. It's sure to be a comedy. One chapter will be on the art of cooking with toilet water (definitely found one of the play pots in the toilet last night. Very thankful I always look before I pee. ) Another chapter will be Mastering the Art of LaCroix Theft (he goes crazy if he sees an open LaCroix can - he will go out of his way to steal it and run as fast as he can while chugging it while giggling). Oy I swear he's going to be the reason for all my grey hair - and possibly the lack of weight gain this pregnancy since we're constantly chasing him down.

I'm in a bad mood but I seriously can't stand when people post every single aspect of their pregnancy/after baby on social media. Don't get me wrong, I love pregnancy/sex/birth announcements. I love pictures of your new baby and I like ultrasounds too!
I do not need to know how much you did or did not sleep every night. I don't care how many cm dilated you are or when the last time your kid pooped was. Some people basically give all of Facebook an update on how many breaths their kid takes an hour. I don't want to hear about how you're going to eat your placenta or read your whole birth story. I'm about to start defriending people left and right
@flowerpower5838 - congratulations!! As long as we don't have any unforeseen expenses in the near future, I should be able to pay mine off by the end of this year! And then we get to focus on DH's all next year! Ugh. I keep telling myself it will be worth it when they're gone. Student loans are the worst.
@sarahfoley725 - good luck not losing your shizz. My go-to when I get stressed out is avoiding the to-do list and taking a nap. Haha. Not very helpful, I know . . .

Is anyone else a ridiculous people-pleaser? I got put in this group facebook message that is driving me crazy. A super nice acquaintance of mine invited me and all her other friends to some sewing workshop and everyone keeps responding with what dates work best and where they want to do it, yada, yada. I have zero interest in sewing, but I feel so bad leaving the group. It seems so rude. So I just keep getting all the stupid notifications. I really need to grow a pair.

Id just say something like "this sounds so fun but sewing really isn't my thing! I'm going to pop out of this group so y'all can keep planning" and then peace out. I hate group FB messages.
@mrspepper05 in a sad attempt to appeal to your people pleasing tendencies, I think the Bumpies would like you to have the courage to leave that FB conversation. Does that help? Peer pressure in the right direction? Ha ha!
I really hope everyone who is feeling shitty feels better. Also, every time I read that one of you ladies is sick I think to myself that I'm glad I'm not meeting up with any of you IRL, that may make me a bad person, but I'm a total germaphobe.

This made me legit LOL. Like, my coworkers are giving me looks haha.
The thread on "natural birth" makes me feel so unprepared. I have no birth plan or even have any ideas of where to begin. :-S
My current mantra for everything baby related is "We have plenty of time!" and now that includes a birth plan. Hi, my name is Amanda and I am a habitual procrastinator.

At least I know I'm not the only last minute Larry. The only baby preparation I have done for this child was buy some clothes yesterday at Once Upon a Child. They had onesies for $1-$1.50.....I went crazy.
My DH is like let's do the nursery, let's buy furniture etc. and I just say ehhh we have 21 weeks. Mark my words I will be in labor saying "eh it's only 7 cm"
I totally open the door with my foot as well as flush if its not automatic. I am always telling DS don't touch anything! Why do toddler's feel the need to touch EVERYTHING in a public bathroom?!
Grrr...now I'm not one to usually jump in when someone has posted a duplicate thread. But I swear another one was just created. And its driving me nuts! I always flip through the first 5 pages, then use the search function if my topic isn't there. How hard is this to do!??
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
@SarahFoley725. t&p your way, I've been in the same boat and am one of those that keeps it to myself because I hate airing dirty laundry, and then one day I'm just like "f#ck it, let's move the f#ck on!" And get over it. (Serious potty mouth here)
@bntfroggie ugh, I'm a germaphobe too and love the gifs! I rarely get sick anymore and hate it when I do, and luckily DD tends to be very healthy, but when she catches a bug, I now get it too.

I mean , this maybe should be saved for UO, but I feel like having an extensive birth plan is like asking God/the fates / whatever to throw you a curveball ... I think having preferences and general outlines can help when saying " ok I have hit this thresh hold this is what I want to do" but babies are going to do what babies are going to do. I knew a girl that planned her birthing experience to the minute and it didn't end up anything like what she spent hours upon hours planning for.
My short list for planning was :
Who is in the room
Meds or no meds
And what type of intervention would I be willing to have and when
C-section is scheduled this time so that makes it easier for me.
* I should add I am a habitual list maker and planner by nature , you should see my packing list for vacation next week!

Yeah the whole germaphob thing goes out the window as soon as you have a preschooler. They bring EVERYTHING home. And mom gets everything they bring home.
As far as the last minute stuff goes, honestly you really can't prepare other than this is going to happen. No matter what. One way or another that baby is coming out.

I have to say- even though everyone has complained about my boss lately and I have too tbh (her unorganization is HORRIBLE!), she made my day today I sit here with my b.s. degree and unable to use it. But she is planning this training for this week on educating children in poverty, and asked me to copy handouts. Well duh- this is my area of expertise!!!! So I read through everything she and the social worker could come up with, and I offered suggestions and more resources to add to her presentation. She LOVED it and even took a couple of my powerpoints and a resource quiz I know of online. If she comes back before I leave I'm going to give her the link to https://playspent.org/ so she can share that with the staff too
It feels good to be able to work on something I was meant to
February Siggy Challenge- Post pregnancy indulgences
Birth plan: meds when I can have them, Dh in the room but no other family or friends, do what the dr says in order to have healthy baby and me. That's it. Germs? No biggy, I clean and disinfect when I can, but I don't mind sharing my drink with dh or ds kind-of-thing
As a side note, last night, ds woke up vomiting. One moment, sound asleep, the next crying and making a mess. Then I clean him up in the dark, hand him off to dh while I clean up the mess. I did fine until I turned on the light... then seeing it in the light had me running to the bathroom. I gagged the whole time I was cleaning up. So ick when you are already feeling ick all the time
I go home at lunch because it prevents me from eating crappy fast food or eating out all the time, AND I get to see my furbabies in the middle of the work day this way. I have been doing this for 7+ years or so. Every time I come in the door (whether its lunch, or after work, etc..) my dogs are SUPER happy and one of them gives what I like to call "happy howls" (he throws his little head back and howls like a wolf....super cute). I have noticed recently when he is giving me happy howls that I can feel the baby move. It happens almost EVERY time he howls for me. Coincidence???? Maybe baby is already an animal lover like his/her parents
Eeeeekkkkk I forgot I was talking to our HR lady at 2 today to disclose my "condition" lol and find out about our maternity leave policy (or likely lack there of...) since we don't have a handbook or anything. Also was going to broach the subject of possibly working from home a couple of days a week post-leave. I don't know why I am nervous, but I am! Wish me luck!
good luck @flowerpower5838! I have no idea if this is what you're looking to do, but may be worth asking... my company allows 16 weeks of FMLA, but they do not need to be taken all at once. So I'm going to use the first 12 weeks, and then take the last 4 weeks and spread them out over the next 16 weeks. So I'll have every Friday off for 16 weeks. That will mean those Fridays are either unpaid, or I use a vacation day, but definitely will help to ease back into work! And quite honestly, I may not do that for 16 weeks, but at least for the first month or two back. If your WFH idea isn't approved, perhaps something like this would be!? Just a thought!
