December 2015 Moms

So excited!!

So DH and I have finally agreed on some names!!! For a girl we are loving the name Chazitty Qadira or Key'Lee Graycyn still not for sure which we LOVE the most. And for a boy we are going for Jaxsyn Mykal. We are dead set on the boy name. We are finding out what we are having tomorrow. I plan on having a Gender Reveal party next weekend this is my 4th and I never got to do anything like this with any of my other 3. Oh and my sister finally talked me into a baby shower!! I guess since my youngest is 7 she felt I needed one this time too.

That's great news!!!! I LOVE your name choices! I hated being in school with 13 Jennifers, no one knew which was which, so super unique names are just the right thing to do. I like Chazzity spelling more than Chazitty though, but that's my opinion. For your gender party, have you heard of filling cupcakes with the color of the gender???? I just saw this the other day so I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done too much yet. ANOTHER SHOWER???? You're so blessed! That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm pretty jealous.
OMGEEEEE Congrats honey! I LOVE Chazzity! You can soo call her Chazzi! But I love Graycyn too. Darn..this is such a hard decision. Cyndy or Cyn is a cute nickname also.  I totally agree with @MrsBwIVF another shower rocks! I'm totes jelly!

Is that with a "CH like choo choo" or a "CH like bach?"

I read it with a "sh" sound. So "Sha-zee-tie".

LIke bach. So with the "k" sound.

ETA although sh sounds really pretty too I am going to run that by DH.
  • LIke bach. So with the "k" sound.

    THAT sounds even better!!!!
Would you mind if I messaged you for help on a more unique set of names for our twins?

  • That is so amazing!! You are certainly blessed. How fun that you FINALLY after 3 children get your gender reveal party! I'm going against the main and saying I like Key'Lee Graycyn! I may have to steal Graycyn for my own. It's so fun and unique.
  • Those names border child abuse, IMO.  I do, however, love gender reveal parties.  How are you going to do it?!

And do you mean a "sprinkle" or a full on baby shower? Can't you just dust off your crib, etc. from babies 1-3...?  Just wondering.
Well I'm "just wondering" why you care if she has another full shower? Why is child number 1 more important than child number 4?

  • Hey, it's none of my business, but ya know...public forum and all.  Maybe it's the neat freak in me...why have more "stuff" if you already have it?  I guess I'd just rather spend my money elsewhere than on another piece of furniture if I could avoid it.

The "sh" sound makes it sound like you might be sneezing. I would recommend sticking with the "ch as in bach" sounding version.
  • Well I'm sure a lot of things like SAFETY AND DEVELOPMENTAL HELP have changed with new furniture, swings, and such in the last 7 years. But I guess children's safety and development are more important to me than it is to others.

Wow.  You don't have to be so mean about it...
  • As a teacher, the unconventional spelling of your name choices make me cringe. Your child will have to put their name on legal documents and resumes someday. I had to stare at those names to try and work through them for far too long.
  • Stating my opinion about the safety of our future generation isn't "mean", it's being honest.

  • And stating that her choice of names is borderline child abuse isn't mean?
  • Oh my god. Emphasis on words isn't mean. For goodness sake. How do members of this board function in the real world if you can't handle a dissenting opinion? This is a real question I have- not even about PP specifically, but generally I have seen people get their undies in a twist simply because others don't agree with then or give them their desired feedback.
  • Jaxsyn is an adorable name!! I know some people aren't a fan of non-traditional spelling but come on its 2015...people need to get over themselves.

As far as the shower goes are you throwing it yourself or is she throwing it for you? It's fine either way but if she's throwing it make sure she invites a lot of people...with your youngest being 7 I would imagine starting over would be overwhelming and you'll need as much help gathering baby items as possible. Don't forget to let people know where you're registered too, it's super tacky when people make you dig for that info.

Since her youngest is 7- there's a chance she doesn't have stuff from babies 1-3. This is our 5th child, my youngest is 9, and we haven't had baby stuff in the house for at least 6-7 years. It doesn't look like I'm having a baby shower, but if someone offered to throw one, I would say yes! (I also never had a shower with my other 4- we were their foster parents and none of them were babies by the time we finalized the adoption.)

To the OP- congrats on agreeing on names! We found out today that we are having a girl. We have a list of names that we both kind of liked, but we can't agree on any of them!
  • It's not a joke. Chazitty is pronounced just the same as Cassidy. Qadira is pronounced Ka-die-rah. If you can't pronounce the other names Idk how to help you. And as far as traditional spelling goes who made up the rules on how to spell names? Have you seen the names in the bible?
  • Why spell it Chazitty if it's just Cassidy?

Anyway, not my style.  I don't need help, thanks. I'm not the one who posted baby names and shower ideas.  What does the bible have to do with name spelling?

I was just using it for a reference of how name spelling and pronunciation are not what you would call "traditional" there. So when did it become such a big deal on how a name is spelled or pronounced? I'm not naming my child something that 5098957356 other people have used.

ETA and for your information I like the sound of the "traditional" names but I think changing the spelling to something original gives it more character and isn't so plain ole boring.
  • Kassidee? Kassidy? Cassadee? All alternative spellings that actually read like they sound like Cassidy
  • My sons' names are not super common but have a common spelling. My daughter's name is Zoe. Even though I spelled it in it's original form I still have to spell it for people all the time. And people even mispronounce it too. So I figured why not put a spin on a more traditional name? People obviously can't pronounce the traditional ones either. And saying that a kid won't get a job or isn't going to be smart because of their name is ludicrous. I think an original name or name spelling gives a person a higher self esteem. My sister named her son Tiger. He thinks it's the coolest name ever, even though everyone gave my sister grief about it. So just because YOU don't like a name or how it's spelled doesn't mean my child won't grow up to absolutely love it.
  • And how old is tiger?
  • And how old is tiger?

    He is 14.
  • @spottedginger I suppose that was a little mean, but seriously. No one will ever be able to spell those names. Or pronounce them. Ever. Not even the kid him-or-herself.

I'm a FTM, so I don't know about the safety of things from 7 years ago. If they're really all that different, then go for it.
