2nd Trimester

not your typical support team during l&d

this may seem weird, but I rather have my dad in the delivery room with me than my mom :/ my mom is very emotional and freaks out! which freaks me out! not helpful at all..my dad, on the other hand, has always pushed me to do my best and with him, I know I can accomplish anything without fear!

But. I don't want him looking at my cooter lol although, I know he wouldn't :) he's very respectful

Re: not your typical support team during l&d

  • Go for it if that makes you feel better. My husband stayed up by my head for both births because he didn't want to see anything "gross". My mom had to cut the cord on both kids.

Soooo are you trying to ask a question here or is this just a SS post about your labor plans?
  • Do you want advice on whether or not to invite your Dad in L&D?

I say if you think it will help you while in labour then do it. I would choose my Dad over my Mum as well, although not sure if he would actually want to be there, and ultimately have only ever chosen to have DH present.

I was talking to a guy at work who was present for all 4 of his grandchildren being born, and he was obviously so thrilled and proud to get to witness it (I have no idea how much detail he watched), and it was clearly in no way awkward for him and his family.

There's no right or wrong when it comes to what will help you in labour.
