Re: Plus Size Mommies

I lost over 50 pounds last year and gained most of it back after getting married this year mainly from eating bread since I cant eat alot of the junk I use too. Right before I got pregnant I started back eating right and had lost 5 pounds. I havent gained much weight through the pregnancy (not on purpose) but I am noticing my skirts and shirts getting tighter. I usually wear between a 20 and 24, depends on the style and type of fabric and I like my clothes to be loose. I plan to purchase a few maternity tops (maybe 5) and maybe the full panel band so that I can wear my jean skirts (not sure yet though). I'm 17+ weeks and have somewhat of a "B" belly but hoping it smooths out into a "d". Oh and I had no "visible" morning sickness, only nausea and food adversions, good blood pressure, no diabetes, and I see a Midwife which helps with the (positive comments).

• Hi! I'm a size 18 in dresses and 14 in pants (breasts run large in my family). 16 weeks along and am fairly healthy for my size, BP runs a smidgen high (135/80 is average). So happy to hear that other people don't have a bump yet, I look just a big as I did before >_< My family is being nice about it so far though. Anyone else almost halfway and not showing yet?
• I have found old navy maternity works wonders! I'm. 18/20 (or xxl in old navy) and have found the XXL is too big. So I would give it a try and they are pretty cheap too.
• @david&ash84 I was worried about not feeling the movement. I'm 16w4d and have just started feeling the flutters. It almost feels likes wave muscle movement. Good luck and be patient.

Last time I was pregnant, my ob mentioned my weight at every single appt. (I have a new ob this time) I cried a few times. But my BP was normal, passed the glucose test, and even though she said my DS would be 10lbs, he was 8.5lbs. I'm a sz 16 at 197 lbs right now. Lost about 10lbs since finding out I was pregnant, and am now the same size/weight as the last time I was pregnant. I had the cutest baby bump last time, even though my mom (who discouraged me from ever thinking I would) never showed with the four of us, she was also plus sized. I'll have to dig through my pictures to see if I can find the couple of pictures I have from last time. I'm 14w 1d right now, and my pants are starting to get tight and I'm starting to feel flutters... Last time I didn't show or have to buy new pants until around 20w, but this time I'm getting bigger faster. Is anyone else going through this with #2+?

I do have more of a bump with #2, then I ever did with #1. They say our bodies know what's going on this time, and the muscles are looser that's why you show quicker with #2.

• Is anyone else having a hard time coping with the weight gain? I'm not doing as well as I thought I would. Granted, I've had a very hormones fueled emotional pregnancy. I'm 20w and am starting to outgrow my normal clothes. I thought I'd be okay, but it's really hard.
• Mama's I'm a FTM and 19 weeks today and haven't for sure felt the baby move. When did you all start to feel the baby move?
• I am 19 weeks tomorrow and don't think I have felt movement. Maybe a kick once? We are still in the normal range esp since both of us are FTMs are not sure of what to look for.
• I'm glad I'm not the only one not feeling movement yet. Im a FTM 18w2d and am getting kind of bummed I'm not feeling anything yet. :( Everyone keeps saying "oh you must be feeling lots of kicks by now!" I just can't wait to feel that and for my husband to feel kicks from the outside!
• I wore a size 18 before getting pregnant, Now i just wear A LOT of stretchy pants!!! But my latest concern is at 20wks I'm still not feeling baby move much in there. Making me pretty paranoid! Anyone else having this problem?

This is me! 18 wks yesterday and I haven't felt anything and was starting to get scared. This is my third pregnancy and the first two I felt definate movements by 16 weeks.
• I'm a FTM, size 20-22. My weight has not been brought up as a concern at my appointments; however, I am scheduled for a glucose test at 21 weeks on Oct. 6. I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow and have my anatomy scan at 9:15am! I'm new to these boards and glad to see I'm not alone :)
• I'm 21+2 and really only started last feeling her this week. I'm a STM and based on the us she's super wriggly but I'm only feeling her when I'm laying down or if my son sits on the bump and she tends to get kicky.
• I was at about a 20/22 when I got my BFP. I had lost over 40 lbs before that. I'm at 22 weeks now and there is definitely a baby bump happening! Can't wear any of my regular jeans, even from prior to the weight loss ones. I also have Type 1 diabetes. Since I was a child. And Celiac Disease. It's my first baby and it's certainly been challenging with all of that but so far pregnancy is healthy! My baby is growing very well and I'm doing pretty good too.
• @nrstumpf, I am 18 weeks, 6 days and have outgrown normal clothes two weeks ago. I have gained 12 pounds, which the nurse says is normal, but the doctor is worried and wants me to "diet not diet".

If I had gained like 20 pounds, I would be worried, but 12? My goal is 20 for the pregnancy, and I figure if I just cut out the ice cream and butter, I have it made.

Don't worry or feel guilty, own it. The best thing about being plus and pregnant is I can blame my tummy on the baby. Sadly, that won't last forever (or will it???)
• I have been feeling my baby since 13 weeks, which for being a FTM is very unusual but it was confirmed with an ultrasound that that's what I was feeling but my doctor told me at 18 weeks that %20 of women still haven't felt movement at that point so try not to stress too much, I am 21 weeks and 2 days today and the kicks are much stronger now, I have finally really felt him kicking from the outside for the first time today. But don't be afraid to say something to your Dr if something doesn't seem right.
• I have always been self conscious about my weight and never really comfortable in my own skin. I am currently 28 weeks and starting to feel huge. With the holiday's coming up, I know my family is going to be excited to see me and my belly. They love to take pictures, which just makes me uncomfortable. I know they don't care or judge me - its just me judging myself. I am just having a hard time coping with this new size. Anyone else feeling this way? Im thinking a new haircut might help make me feel a little more glamorous but also worried shorter hair will make me look even heavier.

I am! I am having a really hard time with family touching me. I know they are just so excited for us because we struggled getting pregnant and they are just excited in general to have a baby in the family. But I cringe every time someone touches my belly...even my mom. I'm a FTM and don't have that big of a bump yet so I just feel like I just look extra fat. And I still have my chub so I just think it's weird they are touching that and don't care! Cause if I wasn't pregnant people wouldn't be coming up and rubbing my fat. Haha I'm sure it's just in my head and how I feel about myself but I think it's weird.
I also get what you mean about the pictures. I'm a huge picture person in general and know this is time that I won't get back so I want pictures, but I just feel not attractive and don't like any pictures of myself! So the holidays will be tough with that. But I also have only seen one picture of my mom pregnant with me and that sucks, so I don't want to do that either.
• I'm a size 20/22 and am currently 26 weeks. I have had a super active little girl since week 14 or so. Nowadays she is moving non stop all day... I haven't purchased any maternity jeans- I just leave the button undone, but I did make my own version of a 'bella band' to cover where my uniform work shirts don't quite cover. Luckily our shirts are a rayon type stretchy material that gives. I'm hopeful I can make the whole way through like this... Only time will tell. I'm a little scared I'm going to look like a freak show if my shirt gets any snugger and she keeps moving the way she does!! I know it's a good thing to know she's doing great, but a little down time would be greatly appreciated at this point!!
• I'm 29 weeks today and didn't start to recognize what I was feeling as baby movement until about 21-22 weeks. At first it felt like a gas bubble or something but then I never had any other signs pointing to gas and the more frequent the movements became is when I finally realized what it was.

Weight-wise I haven't gained more than 2lbs since losing about 21 but like PP said, my normal clothes are starting to get a little tighter so I'm definitely going to have to find some maternity clothes online since all local stores don't have anything that fits me right.
