Re: tall and small

  • I'm 5'10" and having a girl as well. I can't tell you how many people have told me I'm "tiny"! We just have more room! I'll be 25 weeks on Thursday and I've gotten noticeably bigger in the last few days. It seems to come on overnight so give it some time.

  • I had someone tell me I don't look pregnant until my shirt is pulled tight over my stomach. I am 5'11 I tell people baby has a lot of room to grow up before I grow out.
  • #nursewho omg ill be 25 on wednesday lol
and thanks for the helpful words ladies I knew she had extra room in there lol
  • I'm 6ft tall I just take it as a compliment, at month 8/9 and I feel like a freakin house I will be honest I LOVE those comments :)

Lurking from December, but I'm 5'9, too and almost 21 weeks and I get the same comments. I just look bloated.

I just remind myself that the less time I carry "out", the less chance of stretch marks!

You may also have strong abs. Don't fret!
  • Everyone is different, guys. Everyone carries different, every pregnancy is different. I'm 5'2 and barely showing at 21 weeks. It's all normal. All of it.
  • Be thankful you have the room! I'm 5' tall and am the size of a house! This is also my third so I'm told I'll be bigger this time anyway. Lol I'm already getting that way too full feeling when I eat barley anything! Boooo And with 15weeks to go I'm already getting the "must be any day now" comments. Ummmm Nope I'm just that big! Lol

  • I'm 5'3" and 21 weeks with my second child. I am still getting "you're barely showing" and "are you sure you are that far along?" I'm sad cause I thought I would show sooner with my second, but she's taking her sweet time to make her appearance.

Oh my god! I hate the "are you sure you're that far along?" I got it in the beginning because people thought I'd been pregnant longer than I had because I'd been moody from being off the pill. And now they don't think I'm as far as I say because I'm not showing.

Well be happy that you at not 4'11 and having everyone tell you that you are huge! Lol. I have been showing since 16 weeks. I just popped overnight. But I would also rather be "showing" versus just "looking fat". There are endless pros and cons to everything about pregnancy...

I'm 5'1, feeling huge too and have a lot of people asking if I'm sure there is only one baby. I'm going to be 24 weeks tomorrow :) they are also shocked when I tell them I am only 6 months along, they always assume I'm about to deliver! I just had my monthly prenatal on Thursday and am measuring right on time so I just smile and go along with it.

  • You could be asked by complete strangers if you're "sure there's not two in there". Thank you, not thank you, jerk but you just "politely" told me I'm fat. For the record I'm totally within the average size for this point in pregnancy! Ugh, people annoy me this week lol
  • You're lucky. I'm short and have a very short torso. I'm big and uncomfortable. I have acid reflux for the first time in my life. I can't sleep comfortably. Enjoy your small belly.

I just went off on some random lady at Walmart for that same crap.. She asked if I was having triplets.. I snapped... I was already big before pregnancy and it's always been a touchy subject with me and then some random person had the nerve to say some stuff like that?!?! I went bsc..

And I'm 5' even and was already a little big but now I feel like a whale and I'm incomfortable all the time.. Except sleeping with a body pillow has helped at night..
  • This just makes me want to start a thread titled "short and round" =))

I will join. Long torsos weather tall or short have more room. Also depends on placenta placement. If you have an anterior you will typically show bigger. I had anterior placenta with my girls. I looked like a house. This one I finally have a posterior and to me seems I am smaller than I was at this point with my girls I am also carrying lower this time. I am sure I will have tons of people later commenting how huge I am. I am dreading grocery shopping later in 3rd tri. People have no filters with weight comments when you pregnant your either to big or small ignore them all unless it's your doctor the comments don't matter.
  • Enjoy it! I'm 5'3" & feeling huge! I had a mini meltdown this weekend because nothing fits me anymore. Lol

  • I am 5'10 with my second and I think that in most clothes I still just look like I am pudgy around the middle (22 weeks)...to be honest, I am enjoying it because I know that I still have 18 weeks left AND it gets REAL uncomfortable once the big belly finally comes...and it will! LOL.
  • This was me at 25 weeks with my first and at the very end of the day. I'm 5'9" too. I didn't get an actual bump until I hit 30 weeks and even then everyone always told me "you're too tiny, no way you're that far along, or you'll have such a tiny baby". It was super annoying, but now I'm 23 weeks with number two and I'm huge because I weigh more and I'm carrying differently.

I'd say I'm of average height (5'7") and 22 weeks and barely showing at all. People tell me all the time how I only "look like I ate 1 cheeseburger too many." And of course they are just saying that you can't tell I'm pregnant, but it makes me self conscious because I feel like I'm perpetually in the "is the fat or pregnant?" stage.
Some people just take longer to show. It's normal. Don't be worried or discouraged. It'll come in its own time.
  • I'm 5'11 and 24 weeks with twins. I feel massive but I get are you sure there is two in there!
  • Be thankful you have the room! I'm 5' tall and am the size of a house! This is also my third so I'm told I'll be bigger this time anyway. I'm 5'2". I'm HUGE too. I hear it all the time... "Looks like you're about to pop". Yeah. Pop them in the damn mouth! I'm pretty sure I'll get bigger. I'm a day shy of 25wks and have been unable to "suck it in" since about 12wks. This is also third child. Oy.
  • I am 5'10" and I've had people tell me I look big, and people tell me I am "tiny"! It's funny how it still really matters what I wear, some outfits make me look barely pregnant, and in others I look really big.

My husband the other day commented about a friend of ours who is due a week before me "why does she look so huge and you look so small?" Well, perhaps because she is about 5'2" and has a lot less torso for the baby to hide in... Fortunately he has the sense to only say such things in private!
  • I'm 5'3" and 25 weeks. I literally popped over night. Everyone is different, don't be discouraged! I kept getting told, "you're not really pregnant! You're just looking for attention by pretending you are. If you were pregnant you'd be showing by now"
I'm a first time mom and I will be having a beautiful boy in November! People are just hateful and more or less jealous.
  • I wish I was tall! I'm 5'3" and have an anterior placenta and I am massive! It's all belly but it's a lot of belly. I'm already so uncomfortable at 22 weeks. The look I get when I say I'm due November 21st is pretty comical. I don't even know how I'm supposed to grow for 4 more months, with my daughter I went to 41 weeks and I was insanely huge
  • I'm 5'2 and still small, I just think people pop at their on time.
Someone is always going to have something to say no matter what so I say fuck them all
  • I'm 5'11 and 21 weeks. Some days I look like I just gained some weight and some days it's most deffinetly a baby bump. I think the height does make a difference. Even tho I feel big everywhere, so far all friends and family have mentioned how small I am. Not too worried, I eat healthy and if baby is healthy, I'm happy!
  • yeah i'm 5'5" on a good day i'm a little over 22 wks, and i don't really show at all. i had someone at coldstone stare at me for a good solid 30 minutes before finally asking me how far along i was. and then they said no way there's no way you're pregnant. I suppose i'd rather still be smallish rather than huge during summer.

I'm only 5'4" but I too am carrying super low. With DD1 I didn't show at all the entire pregnancy. This time with DD2 you can't tell unless my shirt is up and I'm laying down, but look at how low she is! Crazy. I'm 24 weeks today.
  • Thats wat my tummy looks like laying down my great uncle told me I still dont look in pregnant just a little fat
  • I'm 5'8 and most days I have to play the "pregnant or fat" game. I think I look fat and that I'm barely showing but people that know me and know I'm pregnant can tell I'm growing (esp DH). What's annoying is some of my maternity shirts that are supposed to hug my bump get really stretched out by halfway thru the day so then I just look like a fat slob.
  • No don't be worried that you are carrying small. I'm having the opposite problem. I'm 5'9" and huge at 22 weeks. If I didn't know any better, I'd say there were more babies in there. Everyone carries differently.
