Feeling overwhelmed need crib advice...

So I had my last shower today hosted by the grandmother's to be...both grandmother's bought baby's crib. My boyfriends mom bought a crib of her selection that is a 4 in 1 convertible. My mom bought the one I picked off of the registy.
My boyfriends mom had asked my opinion on a different crib a while back and I nicely explained why I picked the one that I did. I thought that she got the point that I would prefer getting the one I had registered for. Because she didn't buy off of the registry my mom waited until last minute and purchased off of the registry.
Now I don't know which one to keep. I want to keep the one my mom bought and of course my boyfriend wants to keep the one his mom bought.
I chose the Jenny Lind DaVinci for my registry. The other one is Epic 4 in 1. Both are grey but are very different.
Everyone I know of never uses the 4 in 1 feature,so I figured why bother. And, I looked at reviews to compare and the Jenny Lind seems better. Any input ladies?
I'm feeling overwhelmed because I feel like it's a control thing for my boyfriends mom...
thanks on advance

  • I'd pick the one you like the best, return the other and use the cash for another piece of furniture for LO's room with your boyfriend and mother-in-law's input. Do you have a rocker/glider already?

  • I'm a practical person so I personally would go with the 4 in 1... value wise it's smarter. But that's just me! Also I'm a little prejudice in the fact that I picked a 4 in 1 life crib.

I would go with what I registered for guilt free. You chose it, you told her it was the one you wanted, and you got it. So now your BF wants the other ( even though I am assuming he agreed on the one you registered for) just because his mom bought it? Tell him it isn't about WHO bought it, it's about keeping the one you wanted all along.

100% this! I'm assuming you and BF did your registry together. If he had preferred a different crib, that would have been the time to discuss it with you. I don't know anything about either of those cribs in particular but it sounds like you did your research and know which one you want.

And as a side note, we just got rid of our old crib even though it could have converted into a toddler or full size bed. We didn't use the conversion feature at all with either of my first two kids.
  • How do you feel about keeping one crib at your MILs home ? She can keep hers in case he stays over. Maybe excessive but if she has the space she might be thrilled to make
    A nursery

I was thinking something like this also. If there's someone who will or might be watching your child often, it could be handy to let them have the extra crib.

Thanks for the advice! MIL lives a few hours away in a fairly small apartment (and she has MS) so it's not practical for her to have a nursery. My boyfriend liked the bigger model cribs but when it came to registering he didn't put up any argument with the one I picked. I do not have a glider/rocker though so that may be an excellent alernative to the crib that MIL bought.
  • I agree that by the time comes to use the 4 in 1 option you will be SO sick of looking at it and will probably want something different by then anyway. I used the toddler bed option for a really short period of time with my DD and decided to let her help pick out her "big girl bed." Don't make your de idiom based on that feature. I agree with PP keep the one that you initially wanted and exchange the other for something else that you need.
  • I love my Jenny Lind, and it does convert to a toddler bed. It's what you registered for, for a reason! Keep it and don't feel bad. I wasn't planning on having a glider until a friend decided to sell hers...can't imagine not having it! Like pixelposey said, exchange MIL crib for a glider.
  • I think exchanging for a glider would be awesome. Make sure to keep mil informed, though.

  • I like the idea of the glider and say it is still something special that will be used with baby. If you really wanted to be nice maybe pick 2 or 3 and ask her opinion
