Baby Names

DD #2 due in a week! No name yet!

I'm getting pretty concerned that we are still only lukewarm about the names on our short list with only a week to go! Right now we have Charlotte Julia, Ella Julianne, and Mia Juliette. DD1 is Ava, so we want to stay with a somewhat popular name. Any other simple, classic names? There are many we like but can't use because we know someone else with that name. Out are Emma, Isabella, Sophia, Amelia, Abigail, Lily, Avery, Olivia, Emily...list goes on and on unfortunately.

Thank you!

  • Ava and Ella are pretty close. I am not a huge fan of Mia. Ava and Charlotte feel a little mismatched in length, although I do love the name. I think that would be your best bet of the three.

    Claire
    Cora
    Lucy
    Esme
    Thea
    Ruby

DH isn't on board with any of those names. We are willing to compromise, but I wouldn't want to push for a name he doesn't like at all. I would totally name her Lily or Julia but he doesn't like either of those. His favorite is Emily, but not only is Emily popular now, it's been popular since the 70's.

  • I love Ava and Charlotte together. It's my favorite from your list. I'd stay away with names ending in a. I just don't like when ending sounds are the same.

Grace or Claire would be nice.

  • I like Charlotte the best from your list. I don't think it's a big deal if both names end in an A if the names are a different length but Ella and Mia are way too close to Ava. I love the suggestions of Claire and Lucy. Some other suggestions:

    Natalie
    Sadie
    Noelle
    Marie
    Lauren
    Bethany
Kate (I know it's technically a nn but it sounds so cute with Ava)

I consider something that's been popular since the 70's a good thing. That means it is more classic and won't date your child like many names.

I like Julia as the first name
  • Charlotte is so overdone and not pretty or feminine imo.
Julianne or julienne is very pretty. Ella is great, mia, fine.

  • Emily and Charlotte would be my choices. I think you're thinking of this wrong. Emily has been used for hundreds of years. (Emily Post, Emily Bronte, Emily Dickinsom) It's truly a classic. And while I love the name Ava and I think it's very beautiful, the popularity has surged in the last 10 or so years. Give Emily a fair shake! I think it pairs well with Ava.

Thank you for your suggestions! We decided on Hannah Juliette! It wasn't originally on our list, but two days away from my induction it just sounds right.

  • I haven't read any replies, but we have similar name style! Charlotte and Julia are our final 2 choices!

Here are some we've thought about:

    Caroline (our oldest' name)
    Eleanor
    Claire or Clara
    Genevieve
    Violet
    Margot
