Mixing Italian and German?

My family is Italian and DH's is German-- Surname is similar to Schneider. I've always imagined having a Giorgio, Lorenzo, Antonia, Giuliana, etc but am afraid the Italian FN + German LN sounds strange. Would you side eye a Giuliana Schneider? Thanks for your opinions!

  • It would depend on the flow, but I would not side-eye Giuliana Schneider. Beautiful name!

  • I would probably expect those names to have an Italian last name.  THat being said I am Italian and with our last name and where we live it's just what I would naturally expect.  I think mainstream names wouldn't seem out of place at all with Schneider.  Giuliana Schneider is fine.

  • Yeah, depends on how it all flows together, but there's nothing wrong with an Italian first name and a very German last name.

I wouldn't side-eye Giuliana Schneider...l love Giuliana..some names might not flow as well though
  • This is called the melting pot for a reason! Go for it!
  • Nope, it's fine. Our last name is Hispanic and our kids don't have traditionally Spanish names.

  • I am Spanish American and my husband is from Germany. Our kids have Spanish first names and German last names. No biggie!
  • You wouldn't be able to control her married name either, I wouldn't worry about it as long as the name itself sounds nice!
  • Thanks, everyone! I really like the way Giuliana Elise flows, and DH's favorite is FN Lauren, MN either Elise, Alexis or Penelope. All good names I think, I'm just hung up on Giuliana ;)
