We don't live in a city where we can walk to stores or restaurants. However, we do live in a beach community area. So we will hopefully go to the beach this week, LO is only 2 weeks and I had a c section so I've been recovering until this point. We also have a 3 year old so now that I am feeling better we will start going to the water park, back to the library, zoo and things like that.
I'm totally following this thread! All we do is go for long walks to the store. I'm getting pretty bored lol we're hitting up the farmers market tomorrow tho
I am sooooo restless, too! Sitting all day trying to get LO fed is enough to make me go crazy; add that to the fact that it's way too hot outside to be there except in early morning and evening, and well, we do a lot of staring at one another as well. This isn't usual for Seattle, but we're having a seriously-hot summer!
Any summer festivals in your area? Next week we are hitting up a street performers festival and the week after a big parade to kick off the summer fair. It's a little nerve racking taking the twins out in case there's a meltdown but the more I do it the more confident I become. Maybe try a picnic at the local park or a matinee of a movie you really want to see? Our local Cineplex offers a movie once a week where they turn the volume way down and keep the lights up. It's meant for people with kids so no one cares if baby fusses a bit or you have to walk around the soothe them.
my little guy LOVES when we are out socializing! he's four weeks tomorrow. we went to dinner with friends tonight during his witching hour, and he was a little angel! just stared at them and listened to us talking the whole time. makes me so happy because it's 97 degrees here and anyway I was sick of just walking alone. he was also enthralled with our office visit earlier in the week. so excited to be social again!!!
We've gone to Target twice in the past 2 weeks. She does well. Tomorrow we are making our bulk shopping trip at Winn Dixie (they are donating ALL profit tomorrow to the Wounded Warrior Project!). So we've mostly just done shopping... Next week MIL & FIL will be in town & I hope to get out some with her! (& put her in some of her cute clothes. - since we're on the couch most of the day {yay @klkonwi I feel ya}, she's been in plain onesies.)
I am so stir crazy! We go for walks, meet people for lunch a few days a week, go to Target a few days a week and yet I feel like I'm tied to my couch, which I hate! Looking forward to this holiday weekend - BBQs, parades, etc!
We've gone to the park a couple of times with DS, errands, and we are headed to a fireworks show tonight and parade tomorrow. I'm going stir crazy at home so I'm pushing the family to go out and about.
I'm so stir crazy too! Always on the couch. And I thought having a baby in early summer would be fun. I'd rather it be winter so I don't feel guilty about staying in. And the hubby works a lot so he loves to be home. Right now he's been playing old video games he took from his parents house. Ugh I swore I'd never let video games into this house!
Took LO for her first hike yesterday at a nearby state park.. I think I pushed myself a liiittle too far recovery-wise but it felt good to be out of the house somewhere besides the ped or grocery store.. I spend lots of time debating about it being too hot for her to go outside and tend to talk myself out of taking her places, I'm hoping the anxiety slows down as she gets older and we can start being outside more!
I'm so jealous! She's 5 weeks 1 day today and the only places we've taken her to since she was born are to doctors appointments, a few walks around the neighborhood because of the heat in middle Tennessee and to church once. Hubs is taking the docs advice too literally when she said she suggested not to take her out into crowded places until she's had her 2 month shots. Going so crazy but I've been able to go out to run errands and leave her home with Gi Gi or hubs occasionally.
I have a 20 month old daughter so LO is getting dragged all over... Children's museum, berry picking, car show, movie, water park, zoo, splash pad. He spends a lot of time in the ergo.

Im so over this heat in seattle what happen to 78 and beautiful! Ugh I had big plans for lo and fur baby to be out walking but the heat is no bueno. I sing to lo read stories we go out on our deck at night when it cools down. She's been to tons of restaurants thoughand there grocery store today she is going to a friends bbq. We also took her to pike place market and she did pretty well but was super hot. We are planning a nice drive tomorrow hopefully going to find someplace cool to hang out.
We live in Houston too and we barely go out. I don't get out of bed early enough and I worry about the mosquitoes at night! I do walk the dog at night when DH gets home...I need to get a net for the stroller. It's my goal to take LO some places this week. We've gone through the drive through at Starbucks (lots of times) and once through Becks Prime. Honestly it helps to just get out and drive around.

I live in the Houston area as well. We go for walks early in the morning. The mosquito net is a huge help! We try to go before it gets to warm. We will take rides in the car to pick up coffee/food and one of us will stay in the car with LO until the other come out. Other than that play and reading when he is awake and Netflix, sleep, cleaning, yoga, and reading when he is asleep.

This is us too! Our DS is 2.5 so hanging out at home 24/7 is not an option. We do parks, library, indoor farmers market, the mall, splash pads, the zoo, hikes, picnics, early years centre, summer festivals, my parents farm etc...
She's great in the stroller thankfully, but we also have an ergo that I use occasionally.
I'm so jealous of you ladies...LO's daytime routine is to eat for 15-20 minutes every 90 minutes...and then rock for 10 minutes plus diaper change etc...by the time one feeding is over I have maybe 20 or 30 minutes before the next one. So I have yet to leave the house with her other than to go to the pedi.
She's 2 weeks today so hopefully in the next few weeks her feedings will become more efficient and last longer...at this point I'd be thrilled with a trip to Wal mart.

DD eats a lot too, but with her being my second, I've mastered nursing on the go! I feed her whereever, whenever. With DS (my first), I spent a couple days practicing BFing (assuming you're BFing) without a comfy set-up (i.e. standing, sitting without a back support, sitting on the floor, no nursing pillow, using a nursing cover etc.) then I made the first few trips to places that a fumbling BFing new mum wouldn't stand out too much (i.e. the park/playground). Once I had the first few out of house feeds out of the way, it was smooth(ish) sailing and I was able to get out and enjoy life again!
We have only been to her two doctor appointments. She will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. We did go to my SO's parent's house with her, but that's nothing much. Maybe when she hits a month old then I will feel more comfortable going out. A friend asked me to meet her for lunch and bring the baby, but my fear is she will start crying and screaming and I won't be able to soothe her and get her to stop lol. So for now we sit out on the screened in back porch and rock when it's cool enough. We are just homebodies for now X_X
I started taking LO out a bit after two weeks. I could take staying home anymore. He is such a good baby- sleeps a lot and does not get fussy unless wet or hungry so I felt good about it. Plus he sleeps so well at night ( was sleeping 4 hours at a time) so I was well rested during the days. We have run errands, been to lunch with friends and gone to a variety of friends houses. It's been great.
