Bactrim and breastfeeding

has anyone else been prescribed Bactrim while breastfeeding? My baby is only two weeks old. The dr told me it was okay to take and continue breastfeeding, but I read on the Internet it wasn't safe for babies under 2 months.

If you are doubting your doctor, you should get a second opinion from another doctor. I wouldn't rely on the internet.

I was almost prescribed that by an infection specialist but the OB would not approve .... The head of lactation said it is not really acceptable for use unless the baby is over a month but is "most likely OK" for short term (week) use... Talk to the pediatrician too as try are interested in the effects on baby more than treating your condition... They ended up giving me alternative antibiotics that were approved by everyone, including the lactation consultant.
  • Check out the app mommy meds. It's run by the infant risk center and it's very useful! Seriously! Get it!
  • @SammeMotley my breastfeeding class talked about that too.
