November 2013 Moms

When are you hoping to have your nursery done by?

The goal in my head is September 1st.  But we have a ton of work to do in our nursery.  I finished stripping off all the wallpaper and getting all the glue off the walls (finally!!).  We are having a new window installed next week and then we (well, not me, DH) can work on the painting.  Then having someone install the ceiling fan, getting carpet installed, and of course buying the furniture.I'm a crazy organizer so I want to have time in there organizing the clothes, diapers, books, etc.  I can't wait to see what it will look like when it is an actual room!

Re: When are you hoping to have your nursery done by?

  • I needed to finish before it's my turn to teach summer school (next week). I finished last week! I didn't have too much to do since we still had the nursery furniture. I just redecorated, bought a few new things (no way I was hanging baby clothes again, baskets and bins all the way), put the crib back together, ect. I think it took about two weeks.

  • Hoping we can get it all done by the end of October. We are actually moving my boys into the spare room (they share) because it's bigger, but we've got to paint and put new carpet in that one first before we can move them and then we can get going on the nursery. So essentially we've got to redo 2 rooms. As long as it's all done in October, I think I can breathe easy.

  • Our plan is to have all the big items, decorations done by week 30 (Sept 20 for me), so that I can just add details, organize stuff and all that in the last few weeks.

  • I'm shooting for the end of September since I'm having a scheduled C-section on November 18th.

But I really just wanted to point out how much I love your Ryan Gosling meme Party!!!

  • I'm thinking not until a few months after the baby arrives.  We really just need to get a new crib and move furniture, but our budget has been tight lately and LO will sleep in our room for the first 6 months anyway.
  • Sometime in the beginning of September as well. It's the biggest thing (ok, really the only thing) we need to do to prepare the second time around. I'd feel more relaxed knowing it's done.

I'd like to have the bones done by the end of the summer- paint, furniture, curtains, rug.  Then I'll wait until after our shower to do anything else (mid-Sept.).  I don't want to run out and buy more until I see what we actually end up with. That'll hopefully give us another 6 weeks to put the finishing touches on before baby comes.

I become high risk at 30 weeks so I am hoping by week 30 it will be done. My baby shower will not be until I am closer to 33 weeks but I am hoping painting and such will be done and then we can just fill the room after the shower.

  • I'm shooting for before she gets here. She'll be in our room for several months so it'll probably be after she's born. Poor second kid, DD1's room was ready super early. My H is on a crappy shift at work so we rarely see each other and won't be both here often for painting, new carpet, and all the other things we need to do this time around.

  • I'd like to have the big things, (paint, closet organizer in, furniture up, etc.), by September, but, the furniture may end up not happening until later because when we purchased it we were told it could take up to 18 weeks to come in. That was back in May too, but not much later than I wanted it done. Then finish up after the baby shower, which is also in September, but taking my time after all the big things are done.
  • Anna was born at 35 weeks 5 days, so my late preemie brain would like have everything ready to go by 32 weeks, so the end of August.

I'm thinking sometime before delivery would be ideal. We aren't allowed to do much to the room (renting), so just having the basics set up is my goal.

Yep, pretty much this for me too.  We are moving to a new apartment in mid-August...so...that makes doing much "nesting" pretty difficult right now :/

  • I am hoping to have the room done by mid august when we go back to school.  My son and baby #2 will be sharing a room so I want my son to have time getting used to the idea of his big boy bed before we introduce a new kid.

If that doesn't happen no big deal I would just rather it get done when I am not working!

  • I'd like to have our baby boy's room done by the end of September. We had it painted a neutral color when we bought the house and will add accent colors, crown moulding, and maybe some board and batten (if my dad will help!)

Our baby shower is August 24 so that should be plenty of time to get everything organized and ready for his arrival with some wiggle room Big Smile

So thankfully my husband is a contractor and he can do a lot of the stuff on his own.  However, we decided about a couple weeks or so ago that we want to tear the dry wall down in our upstairs and so currently our living quarters is not a pleasant one as we are very crammed.  However, it is a very good thing that we decided to do this and start early as he came across an electrical issue that needs correcting.  but then on the downside of that things are pushed back even further.  I am hoping by middle of August things will be competed or at least livable in the upstairs but then again that may be wishful thinking.

How long does it take to get carpet--I have heard that sometimes carpet people have lists long so I need to figure out if I should be put on a waiting list.

  • We're building our house right now. I'm just hoping to have that finished before the baby arrives. I'll worry about the nursery once it exists.

  • I have no specific date in mind. I just keep working on it. We are trying to squish the baby into our 1 bedroom garden style condo until they are more mobile and we REALLY out grow the space. So we have been just getting rid of excess stuff, organizing the cluttered areas, etc. The inlaws are getting her her crib but I don't know when. Her small closet is currently half hers and half blankets and pillows so I need to eventually figure out where the blankets are going to go. Fortunately even though I am super lazy in general my nesting urge is so strong that I haven't been lazy at all and have been tackling one project after another! It feels amazing. My house is the cleanest it's ever been lol.
  • Lol. We didn't finish the nursery for DD1 until she was like 9 months old. It takes me a long time to make decisions.

Fortunately, we don't have anything to do this time around. DD2 will be sharing a room w DD1 and the big girl bed is already set up and being slept in.

  • Mine's done.  We're moving my daughter out of her room into another room and all the furniture and decorations will stay.  Her room is close to being done, too.

Sometime in September is what I plan on. Already painted her room and have glider, crib, and dresser. Will wait till after shower for the rest of the things. Ordered decals for the wall as well..so it's coming along.
  • My goal is the end of August, but hoping sooner. I want to get it done while I still have the energy and drive to do it. I hate waiting to do things in general, because you never know what the future will bring.

  • We'll find out what we're having end of this month so I'd like to get the major stuff done by end of August at the latest. My mom has already been super generous and got our crib/dresser/changing table dresser so those are already in the room and ready to go. My dad's anxious to paint so I'm pretty sure that will be weekend after the reveal party :) That way come September/October if I have a baby shower then I'll be able to just put things away.
