I've been suffering since fri with a headache and woke up Saturday with a full blown migraine (feels like I partied for a wks straight!) Layed in bed for pretty much all day (in the dark and no tv), taking Tylenol every 4 hours, drinking water, had a little bit of black coffee and had an ice pack on my head...this is complete torture. Read that lemon water with Himalayan salt helps - not for me! Woke up this morning and nothing has changed. Don't want to make an appt with my doc being that I have one in the 7th...any tricks you moms know about and can pass on? I would LOVE any suggestions...thanks! (Searched other boards but couldn't find home remedies)

Re: Def don't miss hangovers!

  • I am so sorry you're going through this. I too do not miss hangovers and am just starting to get into headache realm. If I drink too much water for the headache, I become nauseas. I have found that using essential oils on my temples/pulse points is helpful. In particular I use chamomile or eucalyptus. Also, making sure I eat helps even though I don't want to.
Good luck, sweet girl! Sorry you are suffering.

  • @roziek WHAT IS GOING ON I HAD THE SAME THING THURS-SAT!!  My girlfriend who lives down the street, also 12 weeks pregnant, had the EXACT same thing.  I felt so super hung over, threw up stomach acid all morning on Friday and legit couldn't see out of my left eye.  I also thought my left ear drum was going to explode.  We thought maybe there was something going on with the pressure changes here in North Carolina as we have a storm front coming through, but after seeing your post I'm thinking this is a pregnancy conspiracy.

I wish I had some good advice but I just had to ride it out.  Ate lots of toast, slept when I could (although sleep really didn't help) and I kept a cool washcloth over my eye for a couple days.  I ended up breaking down and taking tylenol saturday morning.  I have two case studies due tonight and I just couldn't get through them.  Honestly, it did help....but that's probably just compared to cold turkey.  All I can say is chug water, morning noon night until you feel like you're drowning.  That is the ONLY thing that seemed to help.  I also watered down a lot of gatorade and pedialite.

Ug, I'm so sorry....I legit feel you.  What the hell is going on with our brains?!
  • Oh and FYI- coffee didn't help either. My go to for a normal hangover... Not sure if you've ever tried this but I have my husband squeeze my head with his two hands like I'm stuck in a clamp (not to the point where it hurts, just pressure). That seems to distract the brain for a little while.

Thanks @jem8407 I'll have to get some of those oils you mentioned and keep them handy for next time (sadly there will prob be more headaches in the future). I only have lavender oil and I tried that...smells good but didn't help. Usually after I eat I feel a bit better too...I def feel for peeps that have migraines often! Thanks for replying :)

@mcrane8 I was starting to feel alone in the left side of my head migraine head pounding! Sorry you went through that too :( seriously it's been so hard but I as long as our little munchkins are ok it's all right. I'm gonna try the oils that @jem8407 mentioned for next time but I'll have my hubby squeeze my head later and try that! Until then it's ice packs and hydrating...I'm gonna nix the coffee bc that didn't help the last few days & sleep! Thanks for responding and hope you have a healthy pregnancy and no more migraines!!!

I have had many headaches as well. Mine are all sinus related and can't take anything to break up congestion. Tylenol never does anything to relieve my headaches.

    Hope you feel better soon!!

Thanks, @adcc43 I feel your pain as Tylenol does nothing for me...haven't had the congestion but have you tried Vicks? I believe it's on the safe list...
  • I had a horrible sinus infection which lead to two days of full blown migraines. I tried Tylenol and it's like a joke!!! The pressure point between your thumb and fore finger does help but it's only temporary relief, though for a moment - beautiful!!! Coffee also barely did anything. Try warm/cold compresses, gatorade (nomally I would never), and the best bowl of soup around...for me Vietnamese noodle soup - pho. That was the only thing....... @adcc43 My doctor told me to take Robitussen DM with my cold because he said the congestion needed to be releived to avoid a worse infection which could lead to pnuemonia. I've also been told mucinex is ok too.

  • My home remedies are lots of water, mint tea, laying down in a quiet and dark room, heat packs on my forehead. If you don't have a heat pack you can put rice in an old sock and put it in the microwave for 1.5 min. Good luck and feel better!
