The decision makes me so happy. One of the perks of living in New England and having family mostly from the area is a lack of Facebook posts condemning the SCOTUS decision (except from that one aunt!).
My confession: I secretly hope one of my FB friends makes a negative comment about the SCOTUS decision so I can let out some eloquent rage followed by a swift unfriending. So far, I think my filters are working too well though, because I've gotten nothing but happiness on that front. Yay!
I had a Lamar's donut this morning and it was DELICIOUS!
I was just about to go grab a couple of donut holes for my late morning snack and then realized Skanky McSkankston has just stuck her grimy paws in the bag(seriously she's the grossest person I've ever met) but I guess I should thank her. Its not like I really needed Round 2 of fried sugary bread.
1). I will get seriously ragey if I go on Facebook today and might end up having to block some people. I can't deal with the comments coming from the news that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. I believe in free speech and all but this is one area where I think the "if you don't have anything nice to say, shut the eff up" adage applies.
2). I'm seriously considering going to Krispy Kreme for some donuts.
This week, to save my sanity, I have used the lovely "hide but remain friends" feature of facebook many times for this reason and for the countless ignorant confederate flag posts (God bless the South).
Your "God bless the south" comment made me laugh. I live in South Carolina, so I've been pretending I live in a bubble recently and have frequented this board so much more than Facebook so I don't have to deal with it all....like maybe if I hide out, it will all go away! Facebook just doesn't have enough filters for me to use to avoid all of the annoying and ignorant comments....
Idk if this qualifies as a confession but going through this thread I was paying attention to names and feel like I didn't recognize half the people on here (which is my own fault as I don't do that normally I just glance at the profile picture). Like those ladies that have actual pictures and not the rotating bump drawings I recognize. Way to pay attention self!
I've done my fair share of unfollowing on FB this month. Before Charleston happened, I was itching to get back down South to be near family and better food. DH has a job offer in Mississippi and I'm like "Do we have to move down there RIGHT NOW?!" Ugh. I don't want to deal with the racism and hatred when I'm about to bring a new life into the world.
My sister gave me her hbo go account so i could watch game of thrones and that's all i have done. 3 days, 2.5 seasons. I left the house just so i would do something yesterday and today I'm walking and swimming with the kids. I've been a horrible care giver, but damn that show is gooooood.
This feels a little non sequitur given today's posts, but here it goes: I love frosted shredded mini wheats and for the last week my son has been asking for bites in the morning. I don't want him eating sugary cereal (yes, I'm sometimes a hypocrite) so I bought a box of regular mini wheats, mixed it with the shredded mini wheats and tried to fool him. It didn't work and now I'm stuck with a mixed bag of 2/3 unfrosted 1/3 frosted shredded wheat.
I'm really opposed to eating baby animals. I don't go around protesting or anything or ever making others feel bad. Just, personally, makes me tear up thinking about cute baby animals being eaten. ANYWAYS I'm totally cooking a leg of lamb for my husband tonight for our anniversary and I feel nothing but love while doing it. If I only cook lamb once every 5 years, I think my feels will survive.
I talk about it all the time so I think everyone on here knows I've been craving sweets like a mad woman. On the way home from my OB appointment yesterday, DH took me to get a chocolate dipped ice cream cone at Dairy Queen. It's been 90-100 degrees all week and even with the AC on in the car it's super hot. So as you can imagine, the ice cream started to melt and the chocolate shell was falling off faster than I could keep up with it. I can just imagine what the people in the car next to us at the stop light thought seeing this pregnant woman frantically try to eat an ice cream cone while it drips down her arms and all over her shirt and seat belt. We were laughing our heads off all the way home. I'm not gonna lie it was the best thing I've eaten all week and I have no shame.

@Casserole27, thanks for the visual. It's adorable. I'm glad it was a good treat, too!
Had to share this while we're talking facebook and marriage equality. Unfortunately, this gem of a person is the MIL of a close friend of mine. Makes me appreciate my passive aggressive MIL.
I'm sorry to all the wonderful teachers.....but ....fffc: I didn't send my sons teacher a last day of school present. A: she didn't do much w the kids this year but watch movies, I did most of the work with him to get him to understand the work and the leasons, she never had time! B: idk y but 3 times during the year it happened that they asked for $ because "other grades" were selling pencils and all 3 times the kids in the class never got anything 2 of those times she kept the $ , the last time I asked for it bck and for the record it wasn't about the $ but don't get kids hopes up and then disregard them C: she lost my sons report card on the last day of school (today) she tells me not to worry its not a big deal!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..there are a lot of things wrong w the teacher this year ...but I'm not going to get into all of them I'm sooo maddd!!!!! Can't that person understand not everyone practices the same belief system as her? We are not a theocracy, and we fought for that right.
I don't think she understands her own native language so probably not.

I cringed reading that. Not just because of the topic, but gosh, the errors! Have to say I always find it somewhat funny when me (foreigner that dropped out of high school) makes less mistakes than someone that's been speaking English all their life.
@MelMel92 my husband says the same thing. English is his second language and he speaks/writes it better than 75% of Americans. He gets so mad and annoyed with them!
What really makes me cringe with regards to the whole marriage equality thing is that THIS is what some people are saying is causing the "unraveling of America."
Not the obesity epidemic, or the prevalence of racism that continues in our 21st century society, or the number of Americans living in poverty, or the national debt. But this, a decision by the Supreme Court to let same sex couples enter the same legal contract that heterosexual couples are allowed to . . . Despite the fact that this decision will have zero impact on those of us who are in traditional opposite-sex marriages already (or plan to be in the future).
Ha I was talking to a mom in the park and she said she now has no excuse to not marry her s/o....I said well didn't they allow this from a while back in NYC....her answer was that she had told her s/o that until every one could so it she would not ,you know in support... She goes now I am totally screwd!!!! .... I agree @mamaowl15 beautifully put!

That's funny. I told my husband sometime last year I wonder how many people in same sex relationships had told there SO "OH babe, I would TOTALLY marry you if it were legal." thinking that it wouldn't be legal anytime soon. Now they are on the spot!
Work has been so busy yesterday and today, I haven't had ANY time to check out the Bump. It makes me cranky!!!! I need this to make me happy and laugh!!
I don't want to start a new thread and bug people, but does anyone ever feel like their baby is trying to escape out of their stomach? She seems to think there is an exit somewhere near my belly button.
Oh my gosh yes. She'll kick right upwards and its already very visible when she does. She'll be at for at least 10 minutes at a time, too.
Yeesss my baby thinks by yanking on the umbilical cord he can escape!!!!! It hurts and tickles at the same time! Or it feels like he jump roping in there, sure looks like it too!

And i have so much action near my cervix already and it's creeping me out. I sat down to pee and i swear a hand was going to come out. This baby is so strong already!
Yes it's a sin according to scripture but so is divorce, drunkenness, premarital sex, even lustful thoughts. It's America, you should have the right to make that decision. Not everyone practices the same beliefs.
Earlier today this baby was kicking up a storm right by my belly button. My toddlers looked a little concerned when I told them it was the baby kicking.

I'd like to go a step further and say: It's a world we all share, we should all have the right to make these decisions regardless of where we're from! Very glad America is now one of these places. The Netherlands legalised same sex marriage back in 2001, and now I get to be proud of both my homes! Very important step in equality for sure.

Couldn't agree more!
It's also a sin to tie an ox and a horse together together for purpose of ploughing but I doubt there would be a similar outcry from the bible bashers if someone was found doing that. I'm sorry if this offends anyone but I find people who quote the bible to back up their beliefs rather silly and hypocritical in the context of the modern world, especially when they tend to pick and choose which parts of the bible to kick up a fuss about.

This is EXACTLY why I support same-sex marriage even though many of my fellow Christians don't. Well, this and the fact that I don't hear much complaint from the church about heterosexual marriages that go against "biblical" principals.

Isn't it the best?!!! I'm so sad the season just ended. Keep watching it gets good!

Totally agree. The irony of them cherry picking which scripture to adhere to is that they say us socially liberal Christians are doing just that when we support LGBTQ rights. Pot kettle black. I also don't buy the "hate the sin, love the sinner" defense. That's just a smokescreen for homophobia.

Hooray for socially liberal Christians! I come from a very conservative Christian family, as does my husband. It's pretty embarrassing the amount of hate they spew and pretend it's love.
Eta: I mean my family, not christians.
We do, too. DH has some family who believe that gay people have demons in them, and that blacks have the mark of the beast. One of his aunts paints murals and she was asked to do one for a local black church in their rec room. She told us about the "little jiggaboo cherubs" she painted, and I go "But I guess you draw the line at black Jesus, huh?", rolled my eyes, and walked away. Some people amaze me. If she knew that Jesus was Jewish, her head might explode.
My confession: My husband is out of town til Tuesday and I really wish my 20 month old would hurry up and go to bed so I can break out the Oreo ice cream I bought at the grocery store while I watch all the chick flicks my husband won't watch with me.

Usually this tends to be the case from my experiences, the more uneducated the person the more narrow minded they are sadly.
