so I'm digging through posts and realize that a lot of us have found out a little extra surprise! Were you expecting twins? Does it run in your family? Post US pics if you have them! Would love to see how many of us got the surprise of a lifetime!
Btw: it does not run in my family, and we are still so shocked! Babies are doing great both have a heartbeat about 170 and measuring 8 weeks!!
Re: How many of us are having twins?
The first ultrasound just showed 2 cute little sacs! Which was actually scary since there wasn't any activity yet. Anyway, it was weird - I wasn't even surprised.
This ultrasound was done at 6+6, they were measuring 6+5 and 7+1, with heart rates of 140 and 141. ❤️❤️
We have not twins in the family, but we are old -lol- so I keep joking that this was my old eggs doing weird things....these will be #3 and #4.
It's pretty freaking amazing.
Twins does run in my family though. My sisters are even fraternal twins, so family members that don't know about our ivf might not suspect it.
I am very excited and am praying they both make it. But I can't help but wonder, how the heck does one even go to Target with two babies and a toddler in tow? Oh my! This should be an adventure!
My mom was a twin
I'm unsure of how far I am because I have very irregular cycles. That being said I estimate I'm somewhere around 6 weeks. If that's true, that means I would have gotten my positive pregnancy test around 4 weeks. Isn't that early?
The nurse used the stupid wheel thing and insists that I'm 8 weeks. I can't have an ultrasound until the end of July (my dr doesn't do them before 10wks).
Anyway so I'm guessing I'm 6 weeks but without morning sickness and no change in diet, I've gained 10lbs already. My doctor doesn't seem to be concerned and I haven't heard anything about my bloodwork, then again they think I'm 2 weeks further than I think I am. I dunno.
This is my 3rd pregnancy. It's different from my other two. I don't know how to explain it but it's different. My symptoms are different and I just feel different.
I keep having dreams about twins and can't get twins off my mind. I'm trying as hard as I can not to think about it. I'm not sure how I would feel about twins. Terrified probably but also blessed.
(My moms grandpa was a twin and hubby has twin aunts)
Thoughts?
So just hang in there until your ultrasound. Don't start worrying until you have to (which you shouldn't worry if you end up pregnant with twins! You will learn how to handle it! And they really are a blessing!) Also, husbands family doesn't have anything say in having twins. It's the mothers side!
First ultrasound at 6 weeks, 2 days! Saw two little flickering lights and was told that it was 2 little heartmuscles starting up! That was kind off a shock. Went back for another ultrasound with 8 weeks, 3 days and i could see that one of the bags was empty and it had nothing in it... Other baby was doing fine tho. Good heartbeat and about the size one should expect at this term!
Mine specifically told me she wants me to plan on setting aside time to rest each day between 20-30 weeks, when the risks of preterm delivery would mean the worst. I wonder if any specific amount of rest has really been shown to lessen risks?
Get them their own crib.
Chicco Keyfit 30 seats fit preemies great. Even if you have two 7lb babies, MANY seats have harness heights that are too high despite them being rated for a 5lb baby. The baby trend flex loc is an AWFUL choice
I would go with a snap n go stroller for the first 6ish months or so. You can usually get them used (or new) for under $100. The baby trend double snap n go with stadium seating OR the joovy double snap n go is a great choice. Otherwise if you're looking for a forever stroller, the baby jogger city mini double with two car seat adapters is a great option.
Prams I would advise would be the out and about nipper or mountain buggy.
The city select is also great if your looking for tandam. I originally had a icandy with my first twins. It go so heavy and I found all the money spent was a waste.
I am only buying 1 Moses basket this time, they share. And they share a cot until 1 year. Although I plan on getting a co sleeper this time, I have one that will hold twins until 6 months. There great for space saving.
You will definitely need to bouncers/swings and I would recommend a double sling, the many wrap sort.
Also, I'm stocking up on 5lb baby grows. Most twins are between 4/6lbs born.
Would be lovely to chat to all you mummy's. Twin mummy's have a bond without even trying. They just understand each other.
Most of my good friends now are mummy's of twins xxxx
My mums cousins have also had twins.
I'm a double yolker!
