Is it normal to continually have uti's during pregnancy? I also have chills, high fever pain in my back and sides. I have taken antibiotics, but days after I've finished them. The symptoms come back a couple days after.
Doesn't sound normal-- and the chills and fever combined with pain sound worrisome. Have you talked with a doctor or medical professional? Been checked for anything more serious than a UTI?
I haven't experienced this myself however my friend has had multiple UTIs during her pregnancy and apparently it's common. Maybe the antibiotics didn't work and you have to be prescribed something else. Definitely call doctor ASAP with a fever.. Could lead to problems with kidneys..
I used to get recurring UTI's before pregnancy. My problem was I wasn't getting rid of it. I had to be on a longer dose and then got yeast infections. I started taking cranberry tablets and haven't had a UTI since. Chills and fever are associated with kidney infection so you definitely need to talk to your OB. Hope you get to feeling better!
Frequent pre-pregnancy UTI sufferer here, so I sympathize with you.
Please go get a urinalysis asap and make sure they are aware of the fever and chills. I've gotten the chills w/ a UTI, but both of those are definitely signs of something more than a UTI.
I got recurrent UTI's before pregnancy, and so did my MIL. She recommended that when you go pee, to sit for an extra 5-10 seconds to get EVERY DROP OUT. It's changed my life! I haven't had as many since! Its amazing what a little patience will do while peeing. Just sit there to make sure I got every drop.
Have they done a urine culture (not just a urinalysis)? Sometimes it is necessary to do a culture so that they treat the infection w/ the correct antibiotics. If you treat an infection w/ the wrong kind of antibiotic you might as well be taking sugar pills. Also, try drinking lots and lots of water to help flush out bacteria, cranberry juice is good because it has a lot of acid to help kill the bacteria. Always wipe from front to back and try to pee after having sex. Good luck hun UTI's suck, I feel your pain.
I'm a frequent sufferer now but never got them before I was pregnant. I had 4 within a 2 month period. So my doctor actually put me on an antibiotic for the rest of the pregnancy as a preventative so I don't get more. It has been helping a lot.

If it really is just a UTI you could try D-Mannose. I have gotten rid of and prevented UTI's just by mixing it in with my water. I would be sure to check with my doctor first and have them do a urinalysis to rule out other things.
